Beyond a Reasonable Doubt (2009)
Only good thing is the plot
I gave this movie a bit of credit because, what an interesting and unique premise! Then I realized it's a remake, so it can't even take credit for that. Acting is horrible, writing is atrocious, directing choices are downright bizarre (not in a good way). Characters are ALL unlikeable and horribly cast (except Michael Douglas) - I wanted to like it and as I said the plot truly is interesting so I kept watching, but it really was a hate watch. We all know that Hollywood is out of good movie ideas so I'm sure this will get a re-remake soon (if it hasn't already) and I hope they do better next time.
Lakewood (2021)
Offensively bad; Karen 2.0
I'm shocked this was allowed to be made. This movie is the perfect example of how NOT to act in an active shooter situation- do NOT clog up the school lines or 911 with calls; dispatchers are not therapists and every minute she wasted of their time people died - she is so entitled she thinks her feelings are more important than other peoples lives. Do NOT call your child over and over... what if their ringer is on and they're hiding? Bafflingly bad. Do NOT ask an innocent person who works across the street to risk their lives and go onto the property to scope the parking lot... like WHAT? Why!? Just to confirm whether or not your son is there? Why is it worth his life for you to find out what you'll find out in an hour or two anyways!?! Worst I've seen in years. Won't be too eager to see Naomi watts anymore, she should be ashamed.
Love on the Spectrum (2019)
I've never cried so much
With joy and with sadness...I am an emotional wreck from watching this show and I love it with all my heart. I learned so much about people on the spectrum and I just can't recommend it enough!!!
Annihilation (2018)
Very entertaining but ungh plot problems
I loved the idea of this movie and really enjoyed it, in fact I'd have loved it if only they would have had any sane person working on it who could point out the glaringly obvious issues! As many other reviewers stated and what I can NOT understand why the filmmakers thought made sense: only one person comes out of the shimmer and he has some sort of unknown virus, and they send the next team in without hazmat suits, without frikken GLOVES for that matter?! They then proceed to touch everything they see...I mean they say theyve been sending people in for 3 years...and they didn't equip even one of them with any type of protective gear?!? I'm baffled by it and it really ruined a potentially amazing movie.
The Sinner (2017)
Horrible
I wish I hadn't wasted my time! Riddled with plot holes, anti-climactic, not one character is likable or relatable at all! I watched the whole 1st season hoping the ending would explain how all the seemingly pointless scenes make sense to the story, but nothing is relevant. Shock value with no purpose. The main character is an awful person and a moron! Ugh just the worst.
Happy Valley (2014)
Love this show but for a couple plot holes
I completey LOVE this show, very worth watching! But I cannot get over:
Season 1: even though Ryans father is a psychopath and serial killer whose location is unknown, she lets him start biking home from school without a chaperone?!? Knowing Tommy Lee Royce had just found out that he had a son?!? She's smarter than that! Come on!
And Season 2:
Ryan gets a mysterious package for his birthday on the doorstep. For all they know its a bomb, it could be anything from anyone...but she just lets him rip it open and play with it and doesn't even rush to read the card or even consider the possibility it could be from his Dad? It's just silly...
Otherwise this show is super captivating with great actors and I hope there's more to come!
Heatstroke (2013)
Stephen Dorff does not touch a gun
The cover photo of this movie deeply offends me. The guy at no point does anything remotely similar to holding a gun and defending his family. The cover should be his girlfriend holding a gun...that would make sense. Instead shes pictured hiding behind him?! Is that supposed to sell more movies? Are people still that sexist? If you are then don't bother, this movie is about a woman and a girl. Not a very good one either.
What Happened to Monday (2017)
Ridiculous
I wish I loved this like I thought I would...are we supposed to believe that coincidentally the sister named Sunday happened to be the christian type one and Saturday just ended up the wild partying one? Or that this woman is obsessed with finding these girls and has multiple goons rabidly determined to murder them? Why exactly is it so important that these specific girls die so much more than others? Why do they not have any emergency protocol to deal with their sister dying? Why were they not spending the 6 days each a week they had in that apartment preparing for something like that? Why does the child version of her not have an accent but the adults do? What was the sex scene supposed to add? Why does each girl have like one blatantly obvious personality trait? Why does one identical twin need glasses? And so on
