Saikojiman Gwaenchanha (2020)
Emotionally healed
It is such a breath of fresh air to meet characters like Ms. Ko. To see someone who is so easy to hate, so easy to want to stay away from. To see them in a journey where the saying "there is someone out there for everyone" truly comes to pass. Characters as complex as her deserve equally complex partners and they succeeded in this. Everyone in the show carries emotional burderns, fears, some have hopes and dreams and some are hopeless and broken but begin their journey of finding light in the show.
We see in multiple occasion how the characters in their most vulnerable moments are almost like children, crying out for help, how we all have a child within us, hurt, but that that can heal with "warm food and warm company". The show carries a truly warm message, we all can be loved. We can all heal through love, warmth, food and compassion.
Baby Reindeer (2024)
Unexpectedly soul-shattering
What began as a background show to me became something I had to give my full attention to after 2 episodes. This show isn't what I thought it would be. Thinking that I'd only surround Reindeer and Martha was a mistake. I simply wasn't prepared to meet Donny's past, to see it in all its pain and suffering. To have his hope, spirit, and then have it shattered, manipulated, groomed to abuse.
The abuser, Darrian, is the embodiment of evil, he feels no shame, no guilt, he sees pain but feels no sympathy. We see the events that accrued in his room from his eyes and Donny's, one desensitizes us the other one begs for mercy.
The finally truly was the cherry on top to this self-destructive, self-hating vicious pain circle. I am just so hurt to see there no hope left for Donny.
The Traitors (2023)
Dissapointing finale
S1 Quentin and Andie dissapoint me. Everyone knew there were three traitors from the beginning. And that one was subsequently recruited.
The contestants banished two. Arie reveled he was recruited during the finale, making it obvious there is still one more amongst them. However, Andie and Quentin let this small but crucial part of information just float around.
It was handed to them but the faithfuls failed to see finding the last traitor was a 50% decision.
Winning 250k was a coin flip. Cirie played a wonderful game, she deceived everyone and use their trust on them to make them blind to simple logic to 4 traitors -3 =1 traitor remaining. Brilliant.
Tsuiraku JK to Haijin Kyoshi (2023)
Heartfelt and wholesome
This show is about a depressed high scho girl that sees no point in living and how she regains her will to live by meeting her laid-back gambling addict physics teacher. Their relationship blossoms in a very wholesome romance where both of them have to keep pushing their feelings away due to the nature of their positions. During their time spent together they ponder on why existing can be a positive experience. She realizes there is much she hasn't done or and how she wishes to get to know him better. Knowing him ultimate becomes a driving factor of her wellbeing and leads her to inspire other people suffering just like she did to get better.
This is show is ultimately about how a girl with depression survives thanks to love.
Next in Fashion (2020)
Season 1 was great 2 is disappointing
Season 2 is a joke.
Gigi is a fashion icon but the show is not called Gigi and the designers. The endless fooling around and pointless modelling is redundant.
American TV shows are obsessed with showing the background of the contestant but enough with basing a campetion on a moving sad story.
The contestants left much to expect, some of them could barely sew. It seems like they were casted based only on their stories and not on their abilities.
They amount of time they gave the contestants every episode is simply tragic, how do you expect them to produce anything good with just 4 hours? The fact that they gave the disabled contestant the same amount of time as every one else is just heartbreaking, it is obvious they intentionally saved him several times so that he could actually show his work but regardless of that the forst participant didn't deserve to go home so early. Truly disappointing. It is also very hard to watch all the different celebrities pretending that the costumes they are watching and reviewing are not trash when they actually are. The women swimsuit that Deontre and Nigel produced was horrendous and yet the judges still praised them and we're easy on them. Compare that to how they have been treating Megan calling her outfits too "juvenile" just because it doesn't fit their specific taste, she had better craftsmanship and was judged harshly because her style is so niche. This a contradiction to the last season where niche and unique got to shine and gave Minju Kim the victory. I understand the message behind Deontre's Met gala look is powerful but those fingers and the back of the hand is simple nightmare material. There is clear favouritism in the show. It is an unfair competition. Godoy did not deserve to go home, why would not send anybody home the next episode for no reason? Why did they start bending the competition rules then? Truly disappointing. Bring Chang back, goodbye, thank you for ruining my favourite show.
Green Book (2018)
A must see to restore your heart's warmth
I can't express how much this movie means. At first when I saw the cover picture I though that it was gonna be a boring movie about two friends in the road, but u was wrong. This movie covers on so make aspects whose value we sometimes forget. It touches the theme of race in a very impressive way; it it hard and real which creates an impact on the viewer, bit also subtle and discrete which makes it a factor you learn not to avoid. It shows that oppression is a human thing by this i mean that unlike other movies that show racism and/or colorism, this one makes you see it deeper.that oppression can be done by anyone to anyone and at the same time that pattern are sometimes broken and that some things can only be unexpected. This movie taught me about dignity, something i had long forgotten about as rarely hear the word. It reminded me that like don shirley i should stand for myself and that that action has a value that speaks higher than other things. With tears in my eyes i finished watching the movie, the ending shows the true gestures of friendships and it is a reminder that there is good people there, it is really impressive to see don shirley out himself out there with the risk of being hurt time after times, in that regard i can only look up to him for I like most people lack that courage in the heart. To finalize, please give this movie a chance, you will not regret it, thank you for reading.
