Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)
Well chosen theme, hope many will follow
"Killers of the Flower Moon" is a Western crime drama film co-written and directed by the great master Martin Scorsese and is based on the non-fiction book of the same name by David Grann. Great actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone, play a role in this piece and there acting again touches upon an often overlooked piece of American history. I must say that I am always enchanted by Leonardo Di Caprio's acting and every time I forget that Leonardo Di Caprio is acting instead of living the role, and this time it was no different.
In the early 1920s, the discovery of oil on land belonging to the Native American Osage Nation turns the tribe into some of the richest people in the world. This sudden acquisition of wealth does not only bring good but thanks to white businessmen who ones again are looking to seize the opportunity at stealing as much from the Osage tribe as possible, it also brings bad. The story hides in a way a lot's of lessons but one must want to see..
I am very sparing in giving high scores, but this film well deserved it.
I won't praise the actors too much, with such a budget you can get the best actors, but they really contribute. For me it is mainly the theme, storyline and the progressiveness of Martin Scorsese that mainly influences my high score. I hope that many will follow and these people will be honored in their losses.
Jojo Rabbit (2019)
Beautiful art work
This movie is really a must see...You can watch it over and over again. I really enjoyed every minute of the storyline, acting, images, music, everything. Every time I see it again, I think back to the first time I saw the film... Post-Covid life (my last cinema visit before the lockdown).... I think the high score is also due to this sentiment.
It's nice to tell such a loaded subject in such a non-loading way without detracting from the seriousness of a war. I also find it very beautiful to see it from the eyes of a child and to realize once again what it does to them, but also how resilient they can be. In these rotten times where, before our eyes, children are once again burdened and tortured by a senseless war and murderous people who will never have enough, even if you give them the world.
Oppenheimer (2023)
Delicious
And finally at the end of the film I still don't know what to think of Oppenheimer as a person and that's totally fine. Lots of praise to nolan and of course Cillian Murphy. The main character is so well balanced displayed (like a perfect culinary meal) that as a viewer I felt completely free to make any decision about what I think of Oppenheimer or not. I don't think you can put him in a category, just like you can't in real life with most people. Especially not if one has to live under those circumstances and make choices...and then our ego's also come into play. I would have liked a little more depth in this psychological part.
A lot happens in this film so I will definitely watch it a second time... Now on a 70mm i max screen...
Beckham (2023)
A fine piece of PR work
This documentary series should serve as an example during trainings or courses for PR consultancy. Money is well spent, that's for sure.
Okey, back to 'content'.... you watch the series and kill time without too much effort. But my God... afterwards I realized that I watched a Beckham commercials for almost 5 hours... is all this PR meant to get Beckham a royal title? Then pls mr. Charles give this man that title and safe us from more superficiality, dishonesty and no transparency. The more I type the more I realise that I have probably been seen as a stupid sheep by the makers?
I have nothing against David Beckham, don't get me wrong but thank God Victoria came by every now and then and gave us probably 'unintentionally' some real info.
Still I hope they keep there happiness en joy of course
P. S. I can say from experience: A man who is so focused on cleaning and spends a lot time and energy on it seems nice but it's torture in real life. They seem tot live longer though (scientifically substantiated, go Google it) because it also makes them move more, but I suspect Beckham has already built up considerable reserves.
Spencer (2021)
Sorry, won't do...thank you for your efforts though
I'm having a hard time understanding the hype surrounding this movie. It's boring, there's no depth and the story is hard to follow. It is that I know that the film is based on Diana's life, and draw from my own knowledge to see a storyline. In the beginning I was impressed by the actress's voice...however, at a certain point it irritates me enormously, it becomes monotonous.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018)
A must see western
This movie rates a high score cause it's worth it! A must see and i'm sure you won't get bored. It has the best ingredients for it. Good acting, good storyline, perfect timing and it has a dark side.
And people, AGAIN James Franco is really a good and sexy actor :-)
Also the other actors are good.
Coen Brothers hit another home run definitely.
Roma (2018)
I liked it in every way
For the ones who say there is no story line maybe they should watch it again? If you want to see and feel the story, you will see it....and hopefully feel it too
Legend (2015)
Had a wonderful time watching it!
Don't understand the low average (7) score. Fenomenal Tom Hardy's performances as Ronnie and Reggie Kray. While watching it I completely forgot that these two characters are played by the same man. Nice doses of English humour, good love story and definitly a gangster storyline told in a way we are not used! Well done all, I had a good time watching it.
Good Girls (2018)
Why the high rate?
Way too overrated. Bad acting, predictable storyline, too much trying. Got bored very fast...
