Good Night (2023)
Light-hearted feel good movie
Except being a tiny bit stretched in second half, this movie is a delight to watch. The screenplay, cinematography, art, direction, characters are fantastically done. Manikandan is such a natural actor and the movie is shot so beautifully that one can't help comparing it with the fine movies in malayalam cinema that portrays the plight of a common man in a manner that you feel you are there in it, next to them, and see it happening. Very immersive story with a great acting and portrayal of characters by all the actors. First half is a delight to watch but second half felt lengthy and some segments felt unnecessarily stretched. Songs are less but beautiful and are in sync with the story. One time watch in theater definitely. Sometimes we all need a break from the masala and commercial movies that show unrealistic things. This is good cinema technically and otherwise.
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023)
Avoid! Too much cringe acting by selmon bhoi.
He's old now, he should realize that hang his boots. Face is CGI, how prabhas's face was created for radhe shyam movie. Pooja hegde is the only reason this movie could have been tolerated a bit. Venkatesh also couldn't live up to his grandeur, thanks to the skills of the director. Songs and choreography are cringe and even offending. All side actors were bad. Shweta tiwari's daughter looked and acted really bad. There is one side actor who does so much eyebrow threading that it's the only thing that shows up on his face. Many good actors like Aasif Shaikh, Abhimanyu Singh were wasted. Actions are watchable. Overall, not worth watching on OTT too.
Jahaan Chaar Yaar (2022)
What a.....
This movie shouldn't have been released in theater. It was only fit for a free OTT release. Shikha Talsania does a coolie no. 1 again. Suara is usual, full of overacting. Ambiguous and double meaning dialogues throughout, very predictable. No clue or plot where movie is going. A cliche subject, not offering anything new. There is nothing in the dil beyond it's one-line plot and it's almost excruciating to finish in theater. A 5 Cr budget movie is not gonna offer quality definitely. The gender statement that they were trying to make was lost in oblivion as the movie progressed. Completely avoidable.
Brahmastra Part One: Shiva (2022)
Disappointed, had lots of expectations!
This movie is just a fancy laser and firework show on a big screen. Really disappointing, meaningless and illogical dialogues like "raftaar ki gati", etc. Copying scarlet witch wasn't a wise move and so was trying to ape MCU. The movie is too "RED" for comfortable viewing, like you are in some darkroom with that famous red-lighting, that was once used to develop photos without over-exposing light sensitive photographic paper. The movie is marred by unnecessary romance, which not only lengthens the movie but also dilutes the main plot, where they should have instead focused on the stories and aspects of the Astraverse. Avoid spending on it. One time OTT or TV Premier watch perhaps.
Dobaaraa (2022)
Extremely avoidable movie.
It's a remake of 2018 Spanish film Mirage, whose lead actor was none other than Professor of Money Heist. There were 7 people in the theater on a saturday evening show. Protagonist tries best to communicate the exasperation one feels with time travel and its effects if manipulated, but the storytelling is pedestrian at best. The film follows a woman who gets an opportunity to save the life of a 12-year-old boy who witnessed a death during a thunderstorm which happened 25 years ago, by getting connected through the television set during a similar storm in the present. Watch Mirage on Netflix to understand this.
Shabaash Mithu (2022)
Pathetic movie, disgrace to biographies!
What a colossal failure. Mithali raj is a legend. Taapsee pannu, the director and screen writers, all miserably failed to give her story any kind of justice, by forcing their agenda in the movie than trying to sketch her life. I am sorry Mithali, we love you and you definitely did not deserve this! You should have got what SSR did to MSD's biopic, but they made a '83 in your name. The only thing good was some of the supporting cast, obviously including Vijay Raaz. Avoid the movie, instead read the wikipedia page of Mithali to know about her.
Heropanti 2 (2022)
An assault on senses!
This movie is an assault on senses. Ahmed Khan should be banned from ever directing a movie. Rajat arora and sajid nadiadwala should publicly apologize for writing this story and I've not even reached over-acting, illogical vfx and songs yet. Please do not waste those minutes of your life.
Dhaakad (2022)
Pathetic movie! Very bad, Don't waste your time and money.
A wannabe action movie with scenes copied from around the world! The hand to hand combat looks fake n the lead actress looks physically unfit and unnatural to play the said role. That sword fight scene is the worst.
The writing is bad, the screenplay is the biggest minus. That's 2:30 hours of my life I will never get back. Doesn't even deserve a theatrical experience. NOT AT ALL RECOMMENDED. AVOID!!
Bachchhan Paandey (2022)
Watch the original in telugu instead.
The entire movie rested on the lead actor, who did quite decent acting. Many great actors like sanjay mishra, arshad warsi and pankaj tripathi were wasted. Abhimanyu Singh and Saharsh Shukla did what they can, for their supporting roles. An actor of mohan agashe and seema biswas's caliber was restricted to almost a cameo. Didn't like Kriti's performance. She was a delight to watch in Mimi, but she succumbed to nadiaadwalas. One star for the lead actor and his makeup artist. The movie seemed rushed, like they spent a lot of time in 30% movie and compensated by hurrying up in rest 70%. Songs were unnecessary.
Atrangi Re (2021)
Nihayat bakwaas movie
Except dhanush, there was nothing in the entire movie. Anand Rai ko inter-faith angle ghusedna bilkul zaroori nahi, zabardasti ka laga. Dhanush is the only bright thing to watch in the entire project. Even his friend MS, a supporting actor, was better than akshay kumar and sara ali khan combined.
Dasvi (2022)
Must watch with family, quite enjoyable.
A fine movie for OTT. AB is a gifted talent since Guru. Loved the story, screenplay, cinematography and the characters. Yami is amazing on screen, like always and she doesn't have to prove time and again that she's a fine actor. It was lovely to see her play the character of a jail superintendent. There was a panache in her act. The supporting cast was stupendous and a delight to watch. Nimrat is a great actor and played the part perfectly. It is probably not a movie made for big commercial masala theatrical release, thankfully. Diction of eastern UP or haryanvi jat was not up to the mark by the few characters who speak it, including AB and YG, songs were unnecessary. Plz do watch fine actors, story, screenplay and cinematography at work. Beautiful movie.
Radhe Shyam (2022)
Photoshopped Prabhas?
Was prabhas made by CGI for most of the film? Almost fell from couch in the train coach scenes and when I saw the rooms, interiors made by arts department, literally, out of the world, coz nobody keeps that in the world. Disappointed with how prabhas was made to look.
Dune (2021)
Couldn't finish!
Yes I never read Dune books, yes I never saw Dune (1984) and probably not going to, just 24 mins. In the movie, I started skipping by 10 seconds and got bored of that too. Ended up closing the browser (was watching on Amazon prime) and laptop and ran here on my mobile to rate and write my review. Looking at the reviews, it seems there is an old connection with this movie's story line for many and is probably nostalgic for guys in mid-40s who gave high ratings, which is misleading, as I couldn't even finish the movie!
420 IPC (2021)
Felt incomplete
Wanted to see more of Ranvir Shorey, probably could have added another case after the small one and made the story compete. Rohan mehra was decent in the role. Another hr of story would have made it quiet well.
36 Farmhouse (2022)
Don't waste your time!
Avoid! I don't know why was this movie made at all. Couple of great actors Vijay Raaz and Sanjay Mishra wasted. Bad story, bad script, complete waste of time. No sir, no pair.
The Kashmir Files (2022)
There was an eerie silence in theater!
Jam packed audi. No noisy long queues on food counters of the theater during intermission. Nobody talking a word. Petrified, just looking at each other. Viewers who got their snacks before the movie, in all probability, couldn't eat as I could see trays with almost untouched food in front of chairs when they left. Saw grown ups crying like kids while coming out of the audi at the end of the movie. Eyes wet, lump in the throat. Absolute silence. Never experienced this ever before. That's the review! Not the best screenplay, not the best direction, unanswered questions, loose ends but it takes guts to make such a movie that exposes every such element who tried to tone this narrative down, hid the truth and attempted to alter the history.
Bunty Aur Babli 2 (2021)
Liked the movie.
Minus some "punjabi" overacting, the movie was really good. I was hooked up to the last and curious to know what happens next. Cinematography was first-rate, so was BGM. I'd have loved to see Jr. AB reprising his role. Enjoyed.
Satyameva Jayate 2 (2021)
Absolute waste of time. Avoid!
Horrible direction, cringey 80s jitendra, mithun and bulla kind of dialogues. Extreme overacting or just bad acting by almost everyone, including supporting cast and extras. MM Zhaveri should hang up his boots now. Can't believe people get paid lakhs and crores for doing such a lame job.
Hum Do Hamare Do (2021)
Absolute delight, watch with family!
Loved the movie, very cute, very naive, not a 10/10 but pretty close. Paresh Raval and Ratna Pathak did what they do best - amazing acting. They are living legends. Apar was usual, again best friend of the hero but he can't pull off a sikh from chandigarh, a dilli ka shohda kind of dost ka role should have suited better on him here. Kriti was an eye candy, loved some of her recent performances in other movies too, since Dilwale. She's definitely not just beauty, she's fabulous, takes any character and adapts to it like it's written for her. Movie could've been a bit shorter in my opinion, like office scenes had no relation to the movie's plot or story.
Chehre (2021)
Avoid, not worth even one star!
Absolute time-waste. Last half an hour monologue is unbearable. This film will certainly help insomnia patients though. I slept thrice but kept on going for the climax, bad decision on my part. I can't fathom why this movie was conceived and made.
Panipat (2019)
Who invests in these colossal failures?
Seriously, Arjun Kapoor? Could have put a mannequin instead. Mixing marathi words in dialogues every now and then doesn't help either, to get the viewer experience the situation or culture. Sala, ata, kaay, aani... marathi is much more than that. Could have instead used complete marathi dialogues sparingly, with subtitles for the rest of viewers or used only hindi with some accent. The mix-up is irritating.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Usual Chris Pratt overacting
A badly made movie. If I see my grown up daughter, 30 yrs from now, in the future, would I just hug her or instead, do overacting like Chris Pratt did in his badly written character? He had been great in Jurassic world and Guardians of the Galaxy, and that's it. What's wrong with him in this movie!
Shershaah (2021)
Overacting!!
This movie was a festival of overacting by the main characters. Badly made movie. Actors who played supporting and minor roles did a far better job than the hero and heroine. Even protagonist's mother did better acting than himself. I've no idea why Kiara advani is caste in any movie at all, after her disastrous performance in Kabir Singh (Watch Arjun Reddy with subtitles, you'll know what I'm talking aboutt). Sahil Vaid was as expected, wasted in yet another film. People are yet to see his immense potential. Shiv Pandit did a spectacular role as Lt. Sandeep Jamwal (now Col.), so did Naib Subedar Bansi Lal and Subedar Raghu's portrayals. I'll still keep Abhishek Bachchan's character of Capt. Vikram Batra in LOC (2003) zillion miles above this.
LOL - Hasse Toh Phasse (2021)
It was horrendous except Arshad Warsi!
Rated 2, half star for Sunil Grover's witty one-liners, half for Akash Gupta's face off round with Gaurav Gera and 1 for Arshad Warsi's commentary. Arshad Warsi is a natural, he's fabulous. Boman Irani kind of kept spoiling the mood around with that straight face, hated him there. Avoid!
Tik Tik Tik (2018)
It's a crime to make this movie....
A really bad budgetless attempt to remake an already scientifically pathetic movie Armageddon, that too, worse than its original. Jayam Ravi should be ashamed of himself. The director, who's also the writer should admit himself in mental asylum and the producers need to be audited about where did the money come from to waste on this knowingly.
