"OMG THIS IS THE WORST MOVIE I EVER SAW ON MY LIFE. TRASH. 1/10"
  • User LadiesMan217

What's so bad that make this worse than Suicide Squad or the Frankestein of a film that is Justice League? No arguments are wrote, just half-baked criticism in a sentence short of a review. Is there a review bombing? Probably. And the hive mind makes sure that the bad reviews are on top. This is a movie that deserver a 6 or a 7, it's a fun blockbuster after all. But even if you hated it, I would find fishy that ALL the relevant reviews gave the movie either a 1 or a 2.

Wonder Woman (2017)

Another great super-hero origin story by DC
16 February 2020
I didn't remember how good this movie is. This is a fine super-hero origin story. This is clearly inspired by Donner's Superman, and it has the charm of the first Raimi's Spider-Man movie. And Gal Gadot, who would thought, is the ultimate incarnation of Wonder Woman. The first thing that will be in my mind if I hear or see about this character, will be Gal Gadot's face. Patty Jenkins direction is amazing, same thing with the photography. Oh, and Wonder Woman's theme is badass.

If only more super-hero movies could be like this one
5 February 2020
Batman v Superman is the proof that Zack Snyder does comic book adaptations like no one else. From 300 to Watchmen, movies that are very faithful to its source material, and then Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, both inspired by DC's classic stories, but at the same time provides a new look at those iconic characters. BvS is an uncoventional super-hero movie, it is 3 hours long (the Ultimate Edtion, and the only one that counts), and the first half of the movie is kinda slow-burning, and the final half is just megalomaniac, the most Zack Snyder thing Zack Snyder ever done, as good as the final fight sequence between Superman and Zod in Man of Steel. Snyder, Goyer and Terrio also did a great job in making a sequel to Man of Steel, even with the presence of Batman and Wonder Woman, the theme of how Superman would affect us, putting him in the real world, is continued and developed, and we see a conflicted Superman again.

Unfortunetely, this movie is so misunderstood. The themes of hope, fear, power and sacrifice present here are powerful and it's why this movie is so special, at least in the super-hero subgenre, where the majority of the movies have this cartoonish look, while this movie is a mature work, like Watchmen, The Dark Knight and Logan. Here we have a Superm dealing with criticism and fear. People fear his powers, what he can do, and because of that he loses confidence, seeing Superman dealing with that is one of the high points of the movie. We also have the 'controversial' Batman, one of the high points of the movie as well. Zack Snyder's vision for the character is great, his arc is phenomenal. This is an older Batman, embittered, as seen in The Dark Knight Returns of Frank Miller, filled with rage and fearing what Superman could do, he feels powerless, in his nightmares he is haunted by the world engine sound, he has PTSD. His redemption arc is great. He went from "20 years in Gotham Alfred, we've seen what promises are worth, how many good guys are left? How many stay that way." to "Men are still good, we fight, we kill, we betray one another, but we can rebuild we can do better, we will. We have to." And then there is Lex Luthor, who is also controversial, many didn't like this version of the character, but I think this is the best version so far in film. Gene Hackman version can be summed up as a rich guy with a thing for real estate, but here we have a Lex Luthor with a more convicing motivation, that touchs Epicurean Paradox, he seeing Superman as the reflection of his own insecurities, but Luthor hates Superman mainly because he is the embodiment of power. There is so many more great aspects about this movie, the cinematography, the costume design, Batman have a badass and comic accurate suit, as well as Wonder Woman, the incredible coreography, principally in the one shot fight sequence in Batman's Knightmare, the magnificent soundtrack by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL, and so on.

BvS is amazingly well done, the mature tone and themes, terrific character arcs, stunning megalomaniac fight sequences and a great cinematography make this movie one of the best of the superhero subgenre.

Man of Steel (2013)

A fresh take on Superman
4 February 2020
Man of Steel, the first movie of the DCEU, is the attempt of Zack Snyder and David Goyer in reimagining Superman into the real world, and they both did a great job. This is the first time someone tried to do something different with Superman in film, we only had the Reeve era as Superman and Superman Returns, a nostalgic take on that same era. Giving to us a conflicted Superman, bringing him to the real world, and forcing him in situations he hadn't been before in previous movies, is a bold move. I tought every narrative choice, even the polemic ones, were great and it had a purpose, built Superman persona, and prepared us to future arcs, as seen in Batman v Superman. The unique and fresh take on Superman is the outstanding part of this film, plus the cinematography, with the incredible fighting sequences, THE flight sequence, it gave the movie this breath of life, something I hadn't seen on MCU. Zod also added to this movie this fresh look, one of the best villains in comic book movies, his motivations, the passion in Michael Shannon perfomance, the dialogue, he have a purpose that drives him, the survival of his species, and you understand his points. Superman here is fantastic, this is a great incarnation of the character, Henry Cavill does a good job, while some say this is version doesn't show the side of Superman that embodies Truth, Justice and the American Way, this is not truth, Superman is driven by his belief in the human race, even if he is conflicted with his kryptonian side. There are a lot of many aspects, the photography, the casting, the production and the costume design, god tier in the Krypton Prologue, the visual effects, the pacing is good enough, among others. The first chapter of the DCEU show to us a new and daring interpretation of the Man of Steel, distinguish itself from the MCU and delivers one of the best super-hero origin story movies ever made.

Enjoyable
31 January 2020
Yes, it features a rubber-suit monster, but that's the charm. Anything else is done not in a bad, neither in a good, way, an enjoyble film, but forgetable to be sincere.

It is good.
31 January 2020
Sure, it is good, the only problems are the clunky dialogues, poorly developed characters, one of them you just know the name and that he loves the protagonist and he belongs to the main cast, cringeworthy moments, cheap character motivations, some visual effects of questionable nature, some bad acting. Besides that, a good movie.

Fun and better than expected
30 January 2020
That was an awesome film. Keanu Reeves as John Constantine is perfect, even being somewhat different to the comics, which is not a problem. The supernatural tone is incredible, it's not a horror but the elements are there, it give me the vibes of Hellboy, another film I love. Everyone is good here as well, good acting, good sequences, a cool photography, we have Tilda Swinton as an angel and Constantine holding a holy shotgun. It can't get better.

Brilliant and unique
29 January 2020
I think I can't describe what I felt after watching for the first time, I was wasting my time on Youtube videos when I clicked this one for curiosity, and I was caught off guard with this, I didn't expected to have such a experience. I never asked myself what is the fate of the universe, and after seeing what phisycists and scientists 'predict', I was completely blown away. I never cared about cosmology or the universe but after this video I became a space geek, such a interesting topic, a whole new world was showed to me. The ending is tragic and bittersweet, both the video and possibly the universe, but depends on your view. Well maybe you will not have the same experience I had, but watch it, it's not long, it's informative, interesting, has a great soundtrack. For me it was a life changing work, this may sound over dramatic, but after seeing this, I started to see things another way, since the universe will end after billions of trillions of billions of billions of billions of billions years. And now being dramatic, this is one of the best things I've seen for a while.

Great adaptation of Alan Moore's magnum opus
28 January 2020
3 hours and 30 minutes of pure Zack Snyder at his best is the best definition of the Ultimate Cut. I've watch the theatrical cut as well, both have its qualities, but the Ultimate Cut is really something. I've paused sometimes to check the graphic novel and Snyder really captures the tone, the world, the aspect and the messages of the original work. I liked the inclusion of the Tales of the Black Freighter, back on the movie I was thinking about the pacing, not liking it, but after seeing all the movie, the pacing here is good as well. slow-burning, almost hypnotic, I paused sometimes, wish I didn't, seeing this continuously is a experience. Here you can expect fidelity, it looks, walks and talk like the graphic novel, some changes, but I understand why they changed. Expect a great cinematography as well, the gray look of the film fits the narrative, help to create the admosphere of a world without hope, filthy and about to go to war, Zack Snyde directering is great here, he understands the visual medium, he have his own style, unique and kind of megalomaniac. The soundtrack, the edgy gore violence, distinctive action sequences, you know it's a Zack Snyder film. There's so much great things here, a few I didn't like, more subjective things than objective ones. And this film should be released later. After decades of superhero comic books, Alan Moore created THE anti-superhero comic book, which ironically is praised as the best superhero comic book ever made. If this film released with a established MCU, like in 2015 or even now, the impact of this film would be stronger, since it's a very unique comic book movie and different of all films of its kind, even with Logan and Joker out there, but you can use the argument that this film is ahead of its time, because it is.

Green Lantern (2011)
3/10
So much potential ended in a incredibly flawed movie
27 January 2020
Green Lantern is a character with so many good stories, which universe have a rich and unique lore, and they deliver this to the fans. The film feels like a B tier TV series pilot, with mediocre performances, although a good casting, inconsistent visual effects, sometimes beliveable, sometimes horrible, bad to look at, this film is inconsistent as a whole, a bunch of good ideas with a poorly done execution, both in the script and in the bland directing. This film is realy ugly, the gray filter, the absence of vivid colors and the bland shots give us a uninspired cinematography, resulting in a bad movie, unfortunely. There is good points, some designs and moments, but overall this film is bad, and it had so much potential, now the way is wait a worth Green Lantern adaptation.

Why this movie was made?
27 January 2020
The combination of a horrible writing, cringeworthy dialogue, bad acting, a surprisingly amateur directing, a nonsense editing and a questionable soundtrack is this film, the worst comic book movie ever made, possibly, and of the worst films of any genre. It's not even worth the time listing everything that's wrong with this film, everybody knows. But I recommend you to watch, if you didn't, it's so bad that it becomes funny, but in the final 20 minutes I was begging it to end already.

Amazing finale
21 January 2020
The Mandalorian started good, the middle class was a letdown, and the finale is amazing. Taika Waititi is good both as the director and as IG-11. The characters are good, there is so many memorable moments, Giancarlo is good playing bad guys, the soundtrack is memorable as well, Mando theme is unique and classic somehow, I need more space westerns, after seeing this whole season it's now a need. This is the way Star Wars should be.

Fantastic and what this series needed
21 January 2020
Finally we are back to the main plot. After two fillers, unfortunely not so good, things improve in this episode, the best yet. The incredible directing of Deborah Chow make me want see this episode on a big screen. The set design, CG, cinematography, Disney invested heavily here so prepare to see a high level of quality. Writing is great as well, they made me hate the Empire for the first time. And Giancarlo Esposito is such a presence on screen, his appearence here, even short, was so good.

A good filler
21 January 2020
This is really becoming the weekly adentures of Mando featuring super cute Baby Yoda to make your day happier. But this one was fun, a heist story, done before in Star Wars, but it really fits the universe. The bad guys are flat, Mando is a badass fighting them in well directed sequences. Just don't have high expectations and have fun.

What a downgrade
21 January 2020
The first 3 episodes were really good, the fourth was ok and this one is just meaningless. It's a filler, but at least they could have done a interesting story, this is a bad filler. Goes to nothing to nowhere. They waste Ming Na Wen, Jake Callahan isn't convincing as the bad guy, lots of random moments. They started so good, it would be bad if the final half goes downhill.

A mid-season filler
21 January 2020
This episode was a letdown. A cliché storyline, this same plot was already used in Star Wars, in Clone Wars, which Dave Filone is director. The central conflict is forgettable. At least Baby Yoda and the photography saves it.

This series really live up to the hype
20 January 2020
This is why I love Star Wars. The mythology, the lore, the characters. The mandalorian culture being developed here is god tier. The western aesthetic gives this a fresh look, and does it better than Solo. The shooting sequences are well directed, as well the whole episode. I just want that they explore Mando more, his past, they just gived hints. Anyway a great episode, the best so far.

It was really fun. Both Baby Yoda and Mando are great characters, love them. But after this episode, I fear that this series will follow the episodic structure with each episode following a different Mando adventure.

This is true Star Wars. I have spoken.
20 January 2020
After letdowns by the sequel trilogy, Lucasfilm give us some true Star Wars, with something fresh and captivating. Thank you Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. With a amazing start, this series have so much potential. This have the vibes and aesthetics of A New Hope, interesting characters, creative ideas, everything Star Wars deserves. My only complaint is that the episodes are short by today standards and the illumination in interior scenes is dark, but the extern shots are amazing, thanks to the DP Greig Fraser.

20 January 2020
Kudos to HBO, the writers. Damon Lindelof, the actors, everyone involved in this episode. One of the best episodes of TV history, I am not exageratting. Incredibly done and crafted to be a masterpiece. I can have some problems with this series but this episode is good that changed my vision about the past episode. Now the ending and I have no idea of what will happen. They really did a great job, and I expect to see more of that quality in TV series.

The last 3 episodes inclunding this one were great. The beginning of this season didn't lived up to the hype for me, but things are getting really better. This episode is well directed, well written, with good perfomances plus the twist and how megalomaniac this is getting, they are doing something different and that's good.

Best episode so far
19 January 2020
What a spectacular episode. I was a little disappointed with the series, the previous episodes didn't captivated me, I saw everyone praising this series, and I am a fan of the graphic novel, so I was hyped and I didn't see anything special. But this one is a masterclass of good TV, it's captivating, give us answers, it was a character focused episode, black and white for most of the time, kudos to HBO on this one, the photography is superb, and there's nothing more satisfying than see Hooded Justice beat up all the Cyclops members, plus great directing and a fantastic sound design, you can feel the intensity of his punchs. This episode deserves all the stars and the love you can give.

A great episode
18 January 2020
I like when TV series has character focused episodes, centered in his point of view. The advantage of series over films it's that they have much more time to develop characters, even secondary ones. This episode is focused on Looking Glass, my favorite of the series, and fortunetely it's a really good episode, enjoyable and makes you like the Glass guy even more. My only problem is that the series isn't given enough answers and there is few episodes left. This episode gives some answers, things happen, but it is still a character focused episode, so...

But overall, it is a great episode.

The perfect ending to the perfect trilogy
18 January 2020
The last chapter of Nolan's Batman trilogy is phemomenal, remarkable, fun, with solid performances and the freshness and criativity you expect in a Nolan film. Unfortunely, it's so underappreciated. The end of a art work, books and films and other narrative media can be challenging, and many fail, but Nolan nailed it in this one. I know it has its mistakes, but the film delivered what it proposed, and it delivered gloriously.

The score of Hans Zimmer, so memorable, elevates the film and without it the film would lose half of its magic. Bane is iconic, when you stop to think about this film, Bane will be the first thing that you will remember, and part of the charm is his voice, Tom Hardy is great here. Batman of course is great here, his fall and his rise were done in a magnificent way. There's so much good things here, the directing, cinematography, I watched with the IMAX ratio and it was fantastic. The opening, the first fight between Bane and Batman. Everything here is so greatly done. It was the ending this trilogy deserved and needed.
