Brassic (2019)
Watch This Immediately.
I almost didn't bother with this, after falling victim to the (massively incorrect) hype of some of the recent output from Sky One (I'm pointing at you, Curfew).
Man, I'm so glad I did.
Joe Gilgun is one incredibly talented guy!
Congratulations, dude - you made something people will be talking about for a bloody long time.
I'm off to watch it again.
Pet Sematary (2019)
Bloody Atrocious.
Why even bother if you're going to remake it into such a fragmented hash? What a crock.
As many others have said, the book is so terrifying because Stephen King makes you feel the grief Louis is suffering - gets you thinking those terrible thoughts of 'what if it was my loved one?'
I didn't give a damn about the characters in the film. There was no connection with them whatsoever, and I was just irritated throughout.
It could have been brilliant. What an absolute waste of an opportunity.
One star for John Lithgow.
Back to Life (2019)
Incredibly Good.
Daisy Haggard is amazing!
I hadn't heard about this until I saw her interviewed on Sunday Brunch and thought it looked interesting. Ended up binging the whole series in one go.
It's hard to describe, as it's so original, it's almost a brand new genre. So, so clever. So funny. So sad.
Also, Miri relaying the conversation she had with her neighbour to a policewoman in episode five had me choking with laughter!
Well, well done!
After Life (2019)
"Happiness is amazing. It's so amazing, it doesn't matter if it's yours or not"
I just watched the entire thing in one go, and honestly think it's the best work he's ever done. Just brilliant.
