Parasyte: The Grey (2024– )
8/10
A thrilling series with suspenseful action and plot
6 April 2024
"Choose your side"

Based on the manga Parasyte by Japanese author Hitoshi Iwaaki, this follows the story of the 17-year-old Shinichi Izumi was partially infected by a Parasyte. Human kind is forced to deal with this and the whole nation is yet to be informed with this threat. As the story progresses, it shows that "parasytes" come to inhabit the world with one mission and it is up to our civilization if we are to co exist with them or exterminateball of their kinds but later on, it is also revealed that not all of them share the same vision.

This sci-fi thriller is a good series binge with interesting plot, action sequences and suspenseful scenes that will take you to the edge of your seat. It is a recommended series to binge.

Parasyte the Grey is 8/10 for me.

Boss Baby x Catzilla: New Meowmpire
5 April 2024
In a generation filled with superhero movies, we take a side trip with this another monster-verse installment featuring... big monsters which typically are also acting as heroes.

As distress calls, the likes of Kong and Godzilla must join forces to stop Scar King and his pet Shimo. From their own world to the country of Brazil, the great battle took place. In the end, Brazil was saved but lots of innocent people died and their city destroyed.

Lesser human screen time in this film is a good decision but perhaps a bit more focus on the monsters (good luck with the CGI budget) however, the story is still good. Not that an amazing film overall but a film packed with action sequences and more more, meow I mean roars!

A good popcorn movie. A good movie in the big screen. A good action packed movie.

Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire is a 7/10 for me PS: I love Godzilla's new Rome, I mean home

"Twisted, Suspenseful, Intense"
2 April 2024
"Twisted" As Netflix releases another series which was said to be from the creators of Game of Thrones and based on best-selling novels, we as viewers can expect too much from it and the result?

The story narrates a scientific encounter that has been faced by generations and every time, there is a mystery yet to be unlocked but are those enough to fix the problem of a worldwide phenomena?

This new series of Netflix takes us to a fictional past, present and a yet to be future wherein there might be another form of life living amongst our own solar system. A story that is full of mysteries, suspense, problem solving and will likely take your brains to another level of thinking. Are we in a simulation? Are we not alone? Are all destined to perish just like that?

Whatever happens, don't let three suns intertwine with each other

A series that is worth the watch. Now I need season 2. Bring the rain

#3BodyProblem is an 8/10 for me. Might need a rewatch.

What happened? Felt like all over the place
22 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Here's my initial review after watching all 8 episodes Cons -Where's the humor?

-Where's Sokka saying "Food!" when they see Momo for the first time?

-No character development from any of them -Where's the fainting fanboy from Kyoshi Island?

-Where's "My name is (sneezes) aang!!!" Or Sokka hitting Aang in the head as they meet him first time -No relationship between characters -Why show Azula, Mai, Ty Lee right away?

-Ozai's face is shown right away -What happened to Iroh's character?

-Bumi's character is also very different -No waterbending training? For real?

-Aang is always MIA -Katara's necklace storyline -June -Appa has literally less than 5 mins screen time -No intro like the series -Showing too much of what should be shown in Season 2 or 3 -How they squeezed episodes from episodes -Where's the unagi?

-Why did Suki removed her makeup?

-Why did Zuko fight Ozai in Agni Kai? He literally did nothing in the series and just took his father's attack -Too much telling, less showing -Butchered the tale of two lovers -Avatar state -and more

Pros -Attack at Southern Air Temple -Fight scenes -Bending scenes -Good visuals -Definitely better than the movie -The BG theme was used

So far this is my initial take. Episode 1 showed that there's a chance that this will be an amazing season. But coming from someone who loved the cartoon series, I felt disappointed. Maybe I have expected too much.

Could've been really better and they really should've focused on Book 1 alone. But hey the cinematic experience was still amazing! The cartoon/anime series will always be better. Sorry but really and should really have been better.

80s and Sweeney Todd vibes and I love it
7 February 2024
"They say 'Time heals wounds' but actually, 'Time is the wound.'"

In the year 1989, one's life is about to change forever because of a storm. This is a strange take on Frankenstein's story with something special about it. A film that is entertaining enough and if you do love the 80s, that "Sweeney Todd" vibes, if you love Kathryn Newton, Jughead Jones / Cole Sprouse, this film is for you. Kudos to Liza Soberano's first appearance in a Hollywood film. She did an amazing job and deserves to have more.

Cole Sprouse and Kathryn Newton did deliver a good performance here too.

A film that I could recommend watching. It was fun to watch!

Loved that they still used When in Rome's The Promise in the film (not just in the trailer).

"Change happens. Tragedy happens."
7 January 2024
Rewind Honest review... If you have another chance to go back to the past and alter the current events of your life to save the one you love, would you do it?

Stories with "time travel" has been one of the common case scenario in today's movies and tv series but how the story tellers pull of that kind of storyline is the question of the day. In this Filipino film entry, the time travel plot is similar to other movies and it was said that the film's plot was somehow similar to the 2004 film "If Only." I could say the same thing about the execution of this film. It is something that we have seen before only with a bit difference.

But as some viewers watch for the plot itself, the lessons learned from this movie is what makes this movie standout. The movie's real story begins when the deal between John and "Lods" took place. This time, there's a chance to alter the reality where John is currently living. Things happen because they have to happen. "Change happens. Tragedy happens. People make choices, and those choices affect everyone else" And those events in our lives ought to change us for the better. To make us a better version of ourselves. Events are truly meant to be a "fixed point in time." But this film reminds us that despite the fact where time can be reversed is truly impossible, our God is God of second chances. -but never make a deal or a promise that you couldn't keep.

It's a family film but if you have already lost someone, you'll feel the emotion more in this film as well.

Cons: -too much ads and some of them are too pushy -funny scenes are added during some emotional scenes (teka kala ko shark) -plot is typical / usual Pros: -the lessons learned -the performance of the lead cast -a movie that reminds us to trust God even during our lowest Rewind film is 7.5/10 for me.

Too many misses, too few hits.

Welcome to Medusa's Lair
28 December 2023
The journey of Percy, Grover and Annabeth begins in episode 3. As they start their quest for the lightning bolt and to save Percy's mother, they come face to face with Medusa and there, she tries to seduce Percy into helping him with his quest.

Episode 3 is a good continuation of the series. This is a reminder that some nook adaptations (or all) should be put in the small screen format as it delivers more story and more character development. It also gives more storyline and more time to tell / show the plot of the book. This series is probably going to be one of the best this year (and next year). Can't wait for episode 4.

Pros -Nora West-Allen, I mean Jessica Parker Kennedy's portrayal of Medusa -The trio building up their relationship together -Clues as to someone will betray Percy in the later episodes (and we know who that would be :( ) -The shoes!!!

Episode 3 is 7/10 Still good 😊

"Please sir, I want some more"
24 December 2023
"If you ever feel you don't fit like the world doesn't make sense, then you might be part of our world so don't give up cause we might need you for the fight ahead"

Season 1 of Rick Riordan's best selling series comes to a close but was it better this time around? The story follows the adventures of the young demigod and son of Poseidon, Percy Jackson. His quest to find the lightning bolt and prevent an all out war between the gods begins in this adaptation for the first book in the series, The Lightning Thief.

This 8 episode season had a slow paced story but was able to give more emphasis on what it is all about especially with Percy's adventures and a good set up to The Sea of Monsters as well as to the other books to come. It gives the audience more time to understand everything needed. While the adaptation leaned more to a serious tone, it was still able to pull off a good execution and that final episode probably was the best. It's a good set up and makes you wanting more.

The ensemble cast was something that may take time for you love especially if you adored the film adaptation. Nevertheless, the actors were great in this adaptation. A little note on what could've it been if Logan Lerman played the role of Poseidon 😅

So was it better than the film adaptation? You find it out but if you're a fan of the books, then the answer will be very clear. A story of adventure and mythology which overall is a very good take of the beloved book series.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians (The Lightning Thief) overall season 1 is 7.5/10 for me. Let's go Sea of Monsters, Titans Curse!

Save the best for last... Another worthy sequel!
20 December 2023
"Save the BEST for last" as the last movie to watch this 2023...

With the films that DC gave us this year, all I can say is that all of them are on an average 5/10 or maybe even lower and it felt like they really can't pull off good movies again until this sequel of Aquaman proves that there are still good superhero films out there.

The story follows the life of Arthur Curry after being helmed as the new king of Asgard, I mean Atlantis. His life as a father is also part of the plot with his family on his side and is a direct sequel to the first Aquaman film. The plot thickens when Black Manta and Jimmy Woo, I mean Dr Shin found the lost city of Necrus. With his plans to avenge his father and the powers of the black Trident, the Black Manta is set to destroy Aquaman and everything he holds dear.

This time, Arthur is being aided by his brother Orm. I must say that their brotherly duo was the MVP of this film. Mera was sidelined but everything feels good. The film has the right amount of balancing the humor, action, drama and overall has a good story.

If you enjoyed the first film, you'll enjoy this more. Watch it in IMAX for a better experience. The movie felt like Thor/Loki and at the same time Black Panther but this film is loads better than the last Thor film.

So if you think superhero films are all bad these days, this film might just restore your faith. Sadly, this probably would be the last time we see Jason Momoa as Aquaman.

Aquaman The Lost Kingdom is a 9/10 for me

Loki: Glorious Purpose (2023)

Glorious Purpose!
10 November 2023
Season 1 was amazing, season 2 was "out of this world"

With the whole timeline dying and its branches at risk of being erased forever, Loki will make the hardest choices and that specific decision will change the course of their time forever.

This series proves that this is the BEST of Marvel in the small screen and even yet one of those top tier projects that they have throughout the course of their cinematic universe. The whole season 2 is full of more possibilities and more questions looming as to what Marvel can still offer. The ending and the whole "Glorious Purpose" of Loki has finally come together in the season finale.

Hoping for season 3 and to seeing Loki again in any future Marvel projects.

Loki Season 2 is 9.5/10 for me.

The Marvels (2023)
7/10
Goose the Cat, the Marvels and the shortest MCU film
9 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Higher.. Further.. Faster.."

With Loki Season 2 having its finale this week, it kinda feels like a back to back Marvel treat for fans with the release of The Marvels, the sequel to 2019's Captain Marvel.

No hate, but here's my review (SPOILERS ahead - well sort of)

The Marvels brings back our cosmic heroes Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan where the three faces quite a problem with the use of their powers but along that, they will also face a not so much of a threat villain who's purpose is to destroy planets that Danvers dear hold in order to save a dying planet - so yeah typical revenge story. During the course of the movie, things were explained why Monica feel off towards Danvers, what was she doing after the events of Wandavision as well as the whereabouts of Danvers, the life of Fury in space, Kamala just living her "not so" ordinary life and some side quests such as visiting different planets, the Flerken family and how the three will use their powers despite the power switch that they were experiencing.

-Technically, the story is fast paced with new characters that I am not so sure if we will be able to remember after this film. But all in all, it is an enjoyable and entertaining film.

As for the character development of the three main, it was good. Good seeing them interact and I agree that Kamala felt like she was the heart of this film. She was able to connect to both Danvers and Monica and strengthen their bond. Danvers' character also felt more established here compared to her previous Marvel films however it kind of felt like she was depowered here but that was explained and showed in the film.

And finally, as for the "fan service" of this film, it was bananas! Though I was spoiled days before watching the film, it was still good seeing it in the actual film.

All I can say, The Marvels felt more like a "filler" or a preparation / setup to what has to come in the future of Marvel Cinematic Universe. The post credits scene(s) are the bridge to the future of MCU. It was a sweet setup but I hope they won't screw this up. Don't ruin the hype Marvel and fans alike.

This is one of those "decent - entertaining" recent MCU films.

The Marvels is a 7/10 for me. I really did enjoy it but as a quality film? See it for yourself. But as for the experience, this was 9/10. One of my best cinema experience (show in another post)

The real MVP was Goose.

Ahsoka (2023– )

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
5 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ahsoka The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, I mean, The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord marks the season finale of the latest installment in the Star Wars saga in the small screen.

With a lot of going on with the Star Wars universe like the stories of Din Djarin, Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker, this story of Ahsoka Tano expands her character arc after the events of Clone Wars and in between Mandalorian. Her adventures alongside Clone Wars characters such as Sabine Wren, Chopper, Hera and Ezra Bridger continues as they keep up with the powers of the dark side with the likes of Baylan and Grand Admiral Thrawn.

What's good with this series is that it continues what we loved about the original and the prequels (and the Clone Wars). This feels like Star Wars again and as how it should be. To be honest, this feels more to be the official sequel to the original trilogy than what we have.

With the good performances of the ensemble cast, and of course the return of Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker (he did return in Kenobi series), this series is a treat for Star Wars fans especially those who love the Prequels and the Clone Wars. Thank you Dave FIloni!

This probably is the BEST live action Star Wars when it comes to small screen - alongside Mandalorian season 2.

Ahsoka season 1 is 7.5/10 for me.

This is a Hit! Let's go Season 2!
2 October 2023
A good series with already a confirmed Season 2 on its end.

When it comes to live action series adapting anime to either the small or big screen, it's gonna be a hit or miss. Hit such as Samurai X, Detective Pikachu and a very, very MISS, awful adaptations like Dragon Ball Evolution and The Last Airbender. But One Piece here is undoubtedly a hit!

This 8 episode series opener provides enough back story to each of the main protagonists throughout all the episodes. It captures some of the great, memorable moments from the anime. Although there are things that are quite obviously changed in the live action, Season 1 shows a great potential that this series may last long - just don't decline on quality.

The pacing is good (as evident to my last remark), the protagonists where well performed, the cinematography could be better and the music is good. Anticipating to see Franky, Chopper and Robin in the next season. So if you are a fan of the anime, if you enjoy binge watching quality series or you just want to watch a random show, you'll enjoy One Piece!

Emily Rudd and Mackenyu Arata are my absolute favorites!

One Piece season 1 is 8/10.

The Nun II (2023)
7/10
Way BETTER than the latest Insidious movie
17 September 2023
When it comes to horror flicks, few things that should be considered aside from the plot and character development are scary scenes, jump scares, the music, the timing and how scary the movie really is. Did this movie live up to those expectations? Yes and no.

No in the sense that some scenes are already expected to be scary and most of the jump scares are already expected to come in like you already know that the next scene will be a jump scare. The whole movie though was quite a scary ride. And it could be better if you'll watch it with a faint of heart.

And yes it did live up to the expectations because the design, the setting, the sound mixing added horror to this movie. The ensemble cast was good too and the story was able to explain how the movie would go. Although one thing to point out is that this movie could have been a mystery movie and not a horror one if the elements of what makes a horror movie was omitted. Overall, it was still a good horror movie and way, way better than the latest chapter of Insidious.

The Nun 2 is 7 (or at this point, 7.5) over 10 for me. Worth watching in the cinema.

Plus notes to seeing Anna Popplewell again and the ending showing that prayer in Christ is the most powerful tool is an amazing touch.

Lady Bird (2017)
7/10
The plot, the coming of age and the "unique one"
18 August 2023
"What if this is the BEST VERSION?"

After being re-recommended to me by a different person, eto na pinanood ko na tlga. So here it goes..

A coming of age story which centralizes Saoirse Ronan's "Lady Bird." Independent as she is, she has to face life or as we know it, "growing up" but with her personality, it was more challenging. She has had a challenging life with her mother who she always disagrees with but deep down, they just have the same characteristics and strong personalities. In the end, love still conquered that (although would have loved to see a scene of her with her family after she accepted her true self).

This film reminds me that all of us will grow up, get old and face challenges in our lives but it'll always be in different ways, different types of lives we live in. Some of us get to go to the university we want to, some of us were just lucky enough to get to college while some have to work and sacrifice their school to continue life (and more scenarios). Despite being different, "Lady Bird" is a reminder that being different isn't a bad thing. We are all unique and lovely as who we are. We have pir differences but our "weirdness" and "uniqueness" makes us who we are. Just because we are different, doesn't mean we don't have a chance to prove ourselves to the world.

It is hard to be the best version if your focus is misleading. But no matter what happens, there will always be people who believe in you and know that you can always be the BEST VERSION of yourself.

"I want you to be the very best version of yourself that you can be."

Lady Bird is a 7/10 for me. In a rewatch, it'll probably get higher as I see this film is better if it is watched more than once.

This is a HORROR MOVIE?
18 August 2023
The story seems to just go on and on. This movie felt more of a family - suspense film than an actual horror film. The og cast is of course still there and look how young Harley from Iron Man grew.

Is this a good movie? -Yes from a certain point of view.

Is it that scary? - Perhaps? But certainly not like the first and second from the series Was it worth watching in the cinema? - Yes. If and only if the cinema house you watched with had that surprise jump scares while you watch Is it a good horror movie? - No. As mentioned, I believe this is more of a low suspense, creepy, family mystery film. Stranger Things felt scarier on certain scenes.

What made this movie good is the cinematography. The jump scare scenes, you'll feel it when they come. The trick is, do not watch it with the idea that it is a scary movie. If you watch it at ease, you're good.

Insidious Red Door is 6/10 for me. Yeah the hype was there but as a movie, just watch it at home, turn off the lights, add some fog effects and perhaps watch it with some flickering lights - solved!

So, -This is the family of agent Moira MacTaggert -This is what happened to Harley after the events of Iron Man 3 -This is Darth Maul in another dimension -This is how other earth uses astral projection

And this is not a multiversal movie?

That was intense!
23 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
That was intense!

When it comes to top notch action and stunts, Tom Cruise is the man for the job. Mission Impossible is back with Dead Reckoning. The movie started with an intense action scene in the deep sea with an enemy that was not expected. As the story progress, Hunt was tasked to retrieve half of the "cruciform" key from his friend Faust who was in the Arabian desert. It was later revealed that this "cruciform" key unlocks the capability of controlling the rogue A. I. called "the Entity." Hunt then continues to find the other half of the key which was later in possession of "Grace" (Hayley Atwell). From there, they must team up and along the rest of the IMF to stop Gabriel from ever having the key.

As the trailer provides, this movie was filled with action, suspense, thrill, ridiculous stunts and more. Probably the best summer blockbuster or the best film of the year thus far (Oppenheimer is waving). A fun and thrilling action film which is not gonna get you bored with almost 3 hours of screen time. Looking forward to part 2 which comes in next year.

Dead Reckoning is a top tier action film, a top tier Mission Impossible film and probably the best yet. 9/10 and it may seem to look better or best to be seen in IMAX.

Barbie (I) (2023)

Come on Barbie let's go party!
23 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Come on Barbie let's go party!"

A comedy fun for audiences. Laugh, laugh, cry and laugh again. The first film I've watched that Greta Gerwig directed and I was impressed on how she was able to pull off a good film.

Probably not the typical toy to live action movie set up but it really has the feels of Toy Story (crossover maybe? Kidding). What the film offers is a lot of comedy which movie viewers will likely to enjoy. It pays homage to the different types of Barbie dolls but that depressed and ordinary Barbie were the best in this film. With Barbie, there comes Ken and Alan? But Ken was not sidelined in this film. In fact, I kinda felt more empathy on Ken's side than on Barbie's. Yeah this is a film based on Barbie who of course we know that without Barbie, there won't be a Ken. However, this film shows its viewers that it shouldn't be that way. Ken is as important as Barbie. On the other hand, that speech of "Gloria" was really moving and very inspiring.

This film takes us to a world where toys and humans interact. Where those who live in a cycle can break the chain and have a decision to make. Where every individual has a choice and every person in this world is as important as the other.

Barbie is 7/10. Enjoyable, fun for family however as my friend have said, there were scenes in this film that felt like "what's next?" or some parts felt like fillers. Still, it was enjoyable and a good film.

On the side note, Greta Gerwig, PLEASE DO WELL ON NARNIA ADAPTATIONS. In the meantime, where to buy that "I am Kenough" shirt?

Oppenheimer (I) (2023)
10/10
"Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds"
23 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds"

Behind the battle of countries during World War II, there was a scientist who made history and ended the war. Unfortunately, he also created a weapon of mass destruction.

Robert Oppenheimer's story was unveiled thoroughly in this Christopher Nolan masterpiece. From how he got the idea to creating that idea and making history. Oppenheimer's success sadly was his tragedy as well. (SPOILERS AHEAD, well if they are) A series of hearings questioning his loyalty became his battle as he made his greatest invention. As a complicated yet a man of science, he made friends with fellow scientists. But his idea of this "ultimate weapon" also made him work with the military which was later used against him. His friends, colleagues soon turned against him. Notably, Lewis Strauss was the villain of his story, hiding in the shadows but already plotting on destroying not only his reputation but his life as a whole. Despite winning on having Oppenheimer lose his security clearance, Strauss still failed to secure the votes he needed to be a part of Eisenhower's cabinet. Thus, Oppenheimer is regarded as "Father of the Atomic Bomb."

The drama, the suspense, the thrill, the story, the science, the execution, everything in this movie is a masterpiece. Nolan knows what he's doing and he did it right. Cillian Murphy's performance as the great scientist was spot on. RDJ being the villain of this story was well executed as well and the whole ensemble cast was amazing in this film.

Shot in IMAX cameras, this movie is really BEST SEEN in IMAX theaters (but it won't be in 3D).

Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer is a 9.5/10 for me. Before or after watching the movie, do research for it to be understood more.

"It won't be for you. It will be for them." -Albert Einstein to J Robert Oppenheimer.

The Summer I Turned Pretty (2022– )
7/10
It's a usual growing of age story yet it is still enjoyable and fun to watch.
12 July 2023
One of those series that made me watch just because I saw the trailer and I was hooked.

Based on the books by Jenny Han, this series is good as its own. There's the summer story, romance, drama and sadly tragedy. At first, it is a simple story of how Belly spent her usual summer until everything is different and how that year changed everything.

It's a usual growing of age story yet it is still enjoyable and fun to watch. Easy to binge with good ensemble cast and really good soundtrack. A romance story with songs from Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo? It's a yes. So if you are looking for a series to easily binge and enjoy, this is a good series to begin with. Season 2 is also about to get released this week. Crossfingers on that Back to December version from the trailer.

At the end of season 1, you're gonna have a question whether you are team Jeremiah or Team Conrad

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 1 is 7/10. It'll make you smile and cry.

Super Worth It! Don't miss this chance!
6 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Now this is the real deal version of Multiverse of Madness SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

As Miles and Gwen continue with their lives after the events of the previous film, Gwen came across a variant of Vulture and later with Spider man 2099. This opened up the entire multiverse showing different versions of Spider man across different earths. It even showed Ben Riley, Pavitr Prabhakar, Spider Punk, even the versions of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire showed up (though they just reused clips from previous films) and more Spider men from comics and animated versions.

This film was a wild ride as it takes the viewers to what being a Spider man truly is. One can argue that this could be the BEST Spider man film to date while others still prefer No Way Home as the BEST. Regardless, this film is one of the BEST, a top tier CBM to date. It has the laughs, the action, the story, the romance (between Miles and Gwen), the pace, the music, the art/illustrations and so on. A very good comic book adaptation. This also joins the list of movies with "better" sequels like Spider man 2, Days of Future Past, The Winter Soldier, The Empire Strikes Back and so on.

Worth watching in the cinema though the colors may make you feel nauseous if you are not in for it. Spider Man Across the Spider-Verse is a gem, definitely a movie made for very Spider man fan and every comic book fan. Multiverse is real!!

Spider Man Across the Spider Verse is a solid 9/10.

A well made rendition of a cartoon classic. The Little Mermaid is made not just for kids but for those with a heart of a kid as well. I wasn't expecting I'd be enjoying this as much as I would but I was wrong.

One of the amazing things they did in this adaptation is that they did not solely focus the story on Ariel but every character got their time to shine. To be honest if it wasn't for Sebastian, I might have a different review on this. To me, he carried this movie. The emotions and the love story wasn't felt forced, it was well executed. Kudos to Halle Bailey for her amazing performance and to Javier Bardem, didn't expect that Blackbeard has a heart for her daughter(s) at all.

Thank you Rob Marshall for this adaptation, from POTC On Stranger Tides to this. And to those who haven't watched it, watch it. Like my boss said, "It's worth your penny"

8/10 for me. The song Part of your World was not overused. But man I love Under the Sea 🤣 🦀

#thelittlemermaid deserves all the compliments it can get. Hope it continues to do well in the big screen.

The Flash: A New World, Part 4: Finale (2023)
Season 9, Episode 13
7/10
See you soon Flash!
26 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
One of the "should be" THE BEST turned out to be one of the most disappointing episodes and finales of this series. The speedster big bads were just defeated by somehow "overpowered" Cecille, Allegra, Khione and XS whereas it took Barry, Cisco, Wally, Jay and the rest of the team to defeat a speedster villain. Makes you question how Barry took 1 season to defeat them.

This ending felt like rush and was not thought of thoroughly. The ending should have had Cisco and Wally. Harrison Wells' cameo as well was felt forced. The ending wherein Joe proposed to Cecille felt it was just added and not really needed. Too many to count.

With the bad stuff from the finale episode of this beloved series, one of the good parts of it was Caitlin being back despite being unnecessary already.

This finale, if they could reshoot it, if there's an alternate / extended edition, I would definitely watch it. The Flash is not complete without Cisco, Wally and Wells. The finale from season 3 felt the best season ending episode to the series.

As a series I have watched for almost a decade, thank you Flash, thank you Grant Gustin for bringing my most favorite superhero to life and doing justice to the greatest speedster ever. Thank you the rest of team Flash. It has been an honor.

See you soon Flash! Our, my only Flash, Grant Gustin!

One of those "better" adventure - fantasy films
9 May 2023
Not bad eh?

As an adventure - fantasy film, I think I kind of expected something more as I am a fan of Middle Earth and Narnia, films like this may give good impression or may disappoint.

I haven't played the game but I am aware of Dungeons and Dragons. This film is fun to watch with good action scenes, adventure and the characters were likeable. The story however of Chris Pine and his family seemed to be pale or it was repetitive but the story of their journey to find the helmet, save his daughter then save the city was fun.

This seemingly is one of those "better" adventure-fantasy films out there. Well of course it can't compare to the titles I have mentioned earlier, still it holds a good amount of fun and excitement to the audiences. Love the characters of Justice Smith and Sophia Lillis.

A 7/10 for me. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it.

Philippines can't do a project like this - NO, this proved all wrong
9 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Philippines can't do a project like this." -Guess what, this proved that statement wrong!

When it comes to Television and Big Screen projects, Philippines is always known for its drama, romance and family related stories but never was known for sci-fi or fantasy with quality effects. And sadly, it is quite possible that Filipinos won't even bother to support projects like this.

Voltes V Legacy: The Cinematic experience showed us that Filipinos can pull a film with quality CGI if just given with proper direction and enough time to make it look real. This is the first time that any local series or film showed a very convincing CGI that will make you feel like "it's real." Some might say that this can equal the effects of Transformers or Star Wars but to me, we are still way behind but Voltes V proves that we can do that soon!

As a film, there are certain moments that you would really feel the editing and the cuts as this was a shortened version of the tv series. The acting was with its ups and downs. Dennis Trillo proved that he is an amazing actor and was able to lead the cast with outstanding performance. Miguel Tanfelix is a good Steve Armstrong and he was quite convincing with his role. The Boazanians were also good as well, felt like the elves from the Hobbit films (just a smidge).

Another thing to consider are the score which was nearly perfect, the performance of Julie Ann San Jose for the theme song was great (but could have been better), the costumes were spot on however the cinematography could have been better.

Overall, the cinematic experience is a fun ride and hopefully the series will be released with its quality not downgrading. One last remark I would want to point out is that of with the hopes that it should have been a weekly release of episode not daily. In that way, audiences and viewers would crave for more and might be more hooked to look forward as to what's gonna happen next.

Voltes V: Legacy The Cinematic Experience is an 8/10 for me. Video review coming soon!
