Superintelligence (2020)
Melissa playing Melissa again
Melissa once agains plays more or less the same character as her other movie roles. Her recent efforts such as Genie and the silly super hero movie have been poor considering her highs of Spy, the Boss, and Identify Thief. Maybe she needs a break from her husband and better scripts. This movie is very forgettable in every way. The premise is paper thin which is a shame as it could have been more interesting if it was better developed, and the chemistry between the characters is very flat especially between Melissa and Bobby. I think James Corden drags the movie down too, his voice and personality is grating and annoying; perhaps a different actor could have elevated the character and connection to Melissa's character. Skip this film.
Your Honor (2020)
Absurd
On episode six of season one, I'm shocked this series was initially so highly rated. The first episode is very good and sets up a really intriguing and exciting premise, however as the series progresses it flounders into the absurd and absurder. Bryan Cranston is playing Hal from Malcolm in the Middle it's too hard to take him seriously, furthermore the actions of his character are unbelievable, some of the situations he puts himself into are laughable and too convenient to the story. The criminal gang aspects of the story are interesting at first, however soon become cliche ridden with wide stereotypes. Also, it's disappointing that the setting of New Orleans is so underused in terms of locations and culture. Overall, the series is frustrating as the premise has so much potential that was never utilised and feels under written and poorly acted. Don't waste your time.
Compulsion (2022)
Woeful
This series comes across as almost a parody of gritty and compelling series produced by the BBC and ITV. The main character is very unlikeable with no redeeming traits and the actress playing her fails to bring any warmth to the character. The writing is cringe and the acting is very stilted and over the top at the same time, in fact it is laughable. The writing is pure cringe, with unbelievable character motives and behaviours. Hard to believe they stretched this tripe over four episodes. Do not waste your time, stick to the better English television productions that put this series to shame.
Hollington Drive (2021)
Ridiculous
The acting is stilted and very poor but probably worsened by a silly plot and awkward dialogue. The decisions and behaviour of the main characters are unbelievable. Avoid.
You Don't Know Me (2021)
Boring and unbelievable
Watched all 4 episodes. Episode was very good and set up the premise quite well. I was excited to watch more but with every episode it got duller and felt too dragged out. The main character Hero is very likeable and believable and the actor who plays him really shines. However the story defies logic in many aspects especially why Hero would go to so much effort for Kyra who never shows him any attention, respect or genuine love. He should have kept his head phone in on the bus in episode 1 and would have had a much quieter life! Woild not advise anyone to watch 4 hours of this story.
Survivor: Live Reunion Special (2017)
Obviously fixed from the beginning
It was so obvious half way through the show that the winner was fixed. The eventual winner had most of the screen time and it seemed as they were practically given the hidden immunity idols. The runner up was a worthy winner with strategy, skills and social play. Disappointing. Contrived farce.
