Boring Story! Action Sequences were excellent!
26 May 2024
Furiosa. Not sure why her story has not made an emotional impact on me. It was boring. Some nutty leader wants to take over the whole business industry with his army and hasn't done anything but harass other characters. I was hoping for some kind of connection with all of it. However one great reason to watch it is the action sequences and how they maneuver the whole game. Other than that, I was quite bored with Furiosa vengeance. Music, cinematography, and Chris Hemsworth were okay. The whole issue was Furiosa was too focused on her being a child. That took forever just for her to grow up. It could have been shortened but I guess the director and studios wanted it that way.

New Movie Is A Wonderful Day!
12 May 2024
In the latest installment, we meet Noa, a newcomer from the Eagle Clan, in a world 300 years after the reign of Caesar. Despite Caesar's legacy fading, this film presents a stunning post-apocalyptic landscape with breathtaking CGI. Mae, the sole human causing trouble for Noa, embarks on a journey filled with action and suspense. The new antagonist, Proximus Caesar, leads his troops to capture Noa's family, uncovering the forgotten knowledge left behind by humans. While the pacing may lag at times, the thrilling action sequences compensate. Directed by Wes Ball, this movie captivates with its narrative, leaving audiences eager for more from the Planet of the Apes franchise.

The Fall Guy (2024)
9/10
Fun, Chaotic, and Enjoyable
5 May 2024
Entering "The Fall Guy," my expectations were modest. I settled in for the duration without overanalyzing the plot or nitpicking technical aspects. What stood out to me was the remarkable skill and fearlessness of the stunt performers. Their ability to elevate scenes with daring feats deserves applause. The soundtrack further enhanced the experience, infusing it with a sense of exhilarating chaos.

While Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt delivered strong performances, the portrayal of the antagonists left something to be desired. Despite this, the movie provided enjoyable, albeit somewhat formulaic, entertainment. It's the kind of film perfect for a casual night out or a laid-back movie marathon. Although it may not reach the heights of cinematic greatness, its popcorn appeal and moments of excitement make it worthy of a second viewing. In essence, "The Fall Guy" may not be groundbreaking, but it certainly delivers on its promise of fun and escapism.

Challengers: A Seductive Spin on Love and Tennis
28 April 2024
Entering this film, I anticipated a love triangle intertwined with the world of tennis. I found myself drawn to the tension and the allure surrounding Zendaya and the two admirers vying for her affection. The film exuded sensuality, with a palpable eroticism that held my attention. However, I found fault with the excessive use of exposition and the frequent jumps in time, which became a distracting pattern throughout the narrative. These transitions left me rolling my eyes, as I prefer a more seamless storytelling approach. Despite this, the climax had me on the edge of my seat, reminiscent of the intensity of 'Inception', leaving me contemplating its implications long after the credits rolled.

I Gave It A Shot. It Was Fun
21 April 2024
I watched this movie on Saturday evening without knowing what to expect. The cast, especially Henry Cavill, piqued my interest. His British accent caught me off guard. Eiza González was also impressive; at one point, I mistook her for Ana de Armas when she wore a white dress-they look so alike!

The movie claimed to be based on a true story, but the writing and script made it hard for me to believe that claim. This aspect of the film was a big letdown, deducting two stars from my rating. Despite this, the movie had its moments with comedy and a lot of Nazi-killing action.

Overall, it was an enjoyable film with a great musical score. I'd rate it 8 out of 10 stars.

Civil War Might Be Something More
14 April 2024
You might be curious about the title of my post. Alex Garland's "Civil War" seems to be setting the stage for prequels and sequels. There are numerous unanswered questions in this film. Some scenes are quite disturbing, and certain plot choices can be perplexing. Overall, I found it gritty and dark, although the music felt mismatched and almost cartoonish. Kristen Dunst's performance was commendable, portraying her role with great respect. Cailee Spaeny's character is more questionable; a certain decision she made significantly impacted my view of her. Despite this, I think the film is great, and I'm eager for potential prequels or sequels that could shed light on how and why everything unfolded.

Scar King proves Studio Movies is Poor
31 March 2024
I was initially disappointed with Scar King's limited screen time and lack of menace in the movie. It frustrated me how the focus seemed to shift away from the main monsters to human characters, particularly the deaf girl with visionary abilities, making it unclear what the movie's central theme was supposed to be. However, I did appreciate the impressive action sequences and visual effects. Kong's character development was a highlight, with the story revolving around him. Tracker stood out as a well-developed human character who supported Kong's journey. Despite these positives, the movie's mediocrity can be attributed to the insufficient spotlight on the villains, which falls on the studios and writers.

Laughable Ghostbusters
24 March 2024
As the movie unfolded, I found myself initially puzzled. Transitioning Ghostbusters from Oklahoma to New York with a new cast felt abrupt. The inclusion of a mom, a teacher, and two teenagers as Ghostbusters seemed jarring; there was a missed opportunity for character development through a time skip. Among the cast, the strongest performances came from Dan Aykroyd, Patton Oswalt, and Bill Murray. However, the film deviated from its plot with excessive exposition scenes, leading to dull moments. The villain's delayed reveal and limited screen time left the climax feeling anticlimactic. The writing felt lackluster, the comedy fell flat, and the portrayal of Igon's daughter as an annoyance was disappointing. Overall, these flaws made the movie feel laughably boring for a Ghostbusters installment.

Decent Film, Falls Short for Trilogy Worthy Status
10 March 2024
Kung Fu Panda stands out as a remarkable film, credited to its captivating villain arc, the formidable fearsome five, and the character Oogway. Removing these elements would diminish the movie's appeal, leaving it rather ordinary. The absence of charm and personality in the characters is noticeable, raising questions about the decision to strip away the very elements that contribute to the story's greatness.

It's evident that the writers may not have shared the enthusiasm for Kung Fu Panda, and witnessing the once vibrant world of the film diminish in the hands of new creators is disheartening. The exclusion of the fearsome five proves to be a regrettable choice, and the absence of Oogway further compounds the disappointment. Unlike the menacing Tai Lung, Lord Shen, and Kai, the Chameleon lacks the same intimidation and evil presence, resulting in a notable loss of heart. A weakened movie experience indeed!

Pure Entertainment and Epic Battles
3 March 2024
I always anticipated that Dune Part Two would surpass the first, a common trend in movies like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars. Dune, directed by Denis Villeneuve, impressed me with its authenticity, epic storytelling, cinematography, atmosphere, and overall execution. While not flawless, the performances of the actors and actresses make any mishaps negligible. This rendition stands on its own, and I haven't felt the need to watch the 1984 version.

The characters were very interesting. We see the religion, how Paul becomes the next leader, Bardem, I love his character, he speaks with such authenticity and he makes it enjoyable. The duel between Paul vs Feyd in a silent moment with no music was insane. Those were some great moments in the film.

Bob Marley is The Man Of Love
18 February 2024
Bob Marley was an unselfish human being who made the world a better place with the songs of One Love, Exodus, We Jammin, and many others which I can't name them. All he wanted was peace, love, and harmony in Jamaica. Although I wish the movie could inspire the evolution of One Love but in the movie you could see the crowd loving him. I did love the part of how he revolutionize the Song Exodus. Although I wish in the beginning they could have made his backstory a little haunting because I didn't feel like he was having anxiety about the violence he went through. The movie had me in tears when they sang one love. It worked out for me.

Fun Here and There, Mediocre For Adults.
12 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I'm 41 years old and I have seen a lot of great animated movies such as Rio. I'm not sure if I can give Migration a shot. About Ducks and taking on a flying adventure to Jamaica. Only to be thwarted by an executive chef who cooks ducks for his cuisines Migration has a good message but it does have a few laughs. The animation is always beautiful especially seeing the nature of God's creation.

The story and direction is the issue here. Duck family are lost and they take the wrong direction. Travel to a city where dangerous things take place. The father and son character development begins with opening their eyes and seeing the world. Instead of living in stagnant and be a boring slob. Overall it was a fun time no alcohol required.

Hit or A Miss
4 February 2024
This film is a perplexing mix of a fictional spy plot and a writer battling anxiety while crafting a book. The constant shift between Henry Cavill/John Cena and Sam Rockwell/Bryce Dallas Howard feels completely irrelevant. The action sequences are disappointingly subpar, and the unnecessary character switches only add to the confusion. The character development and plot focus are lacking, making the movie a jumble of nonsense. Despite the dizzying twists and turns, there's some enjoyable comedy, resulting in a hit-or-miss viewing experience. Entertaining, but chaotic plot shifts. Did you enjoy watching it?

Anti-Scammer Revenge Movie
21 January 2024
I fell victim to a scam, and it's satisfying to see scammers getting their due in the Beekeeper movie. Jason Statham's action-packed destruction of the building and culprits is glorious. Despite the absurd plot, the theme of justice prevails. The constant investigation of Statham's crimes is annoying, and the movie's direction raises many questions. The initial 30 minutes were captivating, but the eventual disappointment left me perplexed. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed the movie, even with its absurdities.

Beekeeper seems like a John Wick movie - I acknowledge the similarities, but it's purely for entertainment, nothing beyond that!

Wonka's Magical Journey
26 December 2023
"It was purely business. Wonka emerges as a beautifully crafted tale showcasing the journey from rags to riches. Willy Wonka's narrative unfolds, revealing an inspiring character facing challenges from chocolate business cartels and private property owners' imprisonment. Throughout, Wonka forges friendships and creates astonishing chocolate inventions. The musical exudes triumph and magic, offering a fresh and unique storyline. Hugh Grant portraying an Oompa Loompa is a stellar character choice. This film captivates from start to finish. Despite my disdain for the villain, I find the movie charmingly amusing and comedic. Kudos to the remarkable Wonka cast!"

Aquaman Fatigues Its Story
25 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Were you expecting the movie to center on Black Manta seeking revenge against Aquaman? That's what I initially thought, but the film took a different direction, focusing more on Orm's redemption arc. It felt like a story of Aquaman teaming up with his brother, reminiscent of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Captain Planet combined. The movie lacked a strong narrative for Aquaman himself. And yes one character is a disappointment. How can you change the story and make it more boring than usual? Wasting money on useless characters, visual effects, and taking away the narrative that makes Aquaman great. It saddens me how fatigued superhero movies are nowadays.

Wish is Good, Stop Treating it Harshly
17 December 2023
Some viewers seem overly critical of Disney's Wish Movie, but I believe it's unfair to judge it harshly. Personally, I find solace in movies like this, using them as an escape from life's pressures. While it's not a masterpiece, I appreciate the character depth and the world it presents. Wish brought me joy and fulfilled its story well, with commendable music. However, the protagonist and her pet goat lacked a bit of depth and humor, leaving some moments lacking. Nonetheless, the antagonist, the king, was excellently portrayed. Wish might not resonate with those immersed in self-pity, but it's an enjoyable watch overall.

Godzilla is Awesometacular!
4 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Wow, the emotional depth in this Godzilla movie is unparalleled! It delves into the lives of characters deeply affected by post-World War II circumstances in Japan. The narrative revolves around a kamikaze pilot, a woman coping with loss, and a foundling. Godzilla's looming threat adds a gripping layer, making you root for the characters' survival. The studio crafts a remarkable atmosphere, skillfully balancing storytelling and showcasing efforts to halt Godzilla's devastation. What's truly impressive is the film's emotional impact, avoiding clichés and delivering a serious, impactful narrative. The actors' performances are powerhouse, elevating the movie to an awesometacular level!

Deceitful Movie, Confusing Tone
27 November 2023
The portrayal of Snow's rise to power was intriguing, unraveling the influences that shaped him into an evil dictator. However, the absence of exploration into Lucy Grey's character, possibly related to Katniss Everdeen, felt like a missed opportunity. Initially thinking Snow was her father added to the confusion. The focus solely on Snow's story left Lucy Grey's role largely unexplored, and her country-like singing style seemed out of place, disrupting the movie's flow. The film's pacing felt extended, making it dull and failing to engage with some characters that should have received more attention. This ambiguity made it challenging to define whether the movie leaned towards drama or adventure.

Learning about being Humble through disappointment
20 November 2023
"Next Goal Wins" is a poignant tale teaching humility amidst humiliation and grief. Centered on the American Samoa soccer team and Michael Fassbender's portrayal of a coach battling anger issues, the film unfolds after a devastating 31-0 loss at the World Cup. It deeply delves into the coach's struggles, evoking profound emotions. Despite its positivity, humor, and heartfelt moments, criticisms arise regarding the portrayal of soccer associations and Fassbender's character. The depiction of his career and love life choices remains perplexing. Nonetheless, the triumph of the coach and the Samoa team makes it a compelling and enjoyable watch.

Funny sequel but Badly Written movie
11 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The villain and Captain Marvel backstory is totally missing from the whole story of this movie. The plot doesn't even make sense and I don't understand how the hammer weapon is powered without the infinity stone. Monica Rambeau is she even supposed to be a hero? What type of Captain Marvel name is she supposed be? Iman Vellami is a superior character throughout the movie. She mostly stole the show. The movie displays four different scenes but the execution is just a total mess. We have cats that vacuum people up, a singing village, and the skrulls. Their were a few cameos which was impressive but I don't see how it applies with the MCU. Funnier sequel but badly written.

You May Disagree With My Review
23 October 2023
The pacing of "Killers of the Flower Moon" felt slow, certain scenes were confusing, and some characters displayed lies and greed. Unfortunately, the movie lacked the emotional impact I was hoping for, and my attention started to drift. In comparison, Oppenheimer's movie managed to capture it better. Additionally, the non-musical atmosphere in certain scenes felt slow and uninteresting. Leo's character was hard to keep up with, and his lies and ignorance became annoying. I was expecting him to face the consequences he deserved, but the ending, with its Broadway-like twist, left me confused. I had hoped that the movie would respectfully leave the audience wondering about the fate of the Osage people, but I was ultimately disappointed. I wanted to feel an emotional connection, but instead, I was left feeling empty and puzzled. Despite that, I tried my best to appreciate it.

Saw X (2023)

Captivating Saw X film
16 October 2023
The most captivating aspect of Saw X is delving into the enigmatic character of John Kramer. His relentless search for hope amid his battle with cancer is truly compelling. Those who prey on the vulnerable victims are despicable, exploiting people in dire need. My heart goes out to John, as I understand the motivation behind his gruesome traps, targeting those who prioritize their own desires over the needs of others. The unexpected twists in the plot add depth and intrigue, something I've missed in the Saw series. While one character's lack of justification left me somewhat disappointed, I found the film as a whole to be an enjoyable, albeit cringy, yet entertaining experience.

Very Sloppy Movie
12 October 2023
I couldn't quite grasp the storyline here. It seemed like a mix of three different movies, involving earthquakes, two missing children, and possession. There were also some unexpected cameos and an exorcism. The characters attempted to connect with God, but now we have two individuals who can't even connect with each other. The screenplay was messy, and the pacing was painfully slow. Some actors performed well, while others, like doctors, nurses, preachers, police, and firefighters, seemed out of their element. Everything revolved around the father, who suddenly became the central character despite being an atheist and displaying carelessness in searching for his daughter. Overall, it feels like this movie was a disaster right from the beginning.

The Creator (2023)

The Creator is Unique in its Storytelling
2 October 2023
The film's notable aspect is the absence of uplifting music and a positive tone, which some may find dull. However, I have a different perspective. I imagine the protagonist, Joshua, portrayed by John David Washington, grappling with the aftermath of a failed mission and the loss of his love interest, Gemma Chan. The film delves into a scenario where the United States is engaged in a war against New Asia, a country governed by AI. Humans, robots, and AI coexist in this narrative. The story takes an unexpected turn when it is revealed that a nuclear bomb was allegedly dropped on Los Angeles, prompting reflection on the destructive power of lies and their ability to obliterate a city within seconds. Personally, I appreciate the chemistry between Joshua and Alphie, a young character played by Madeleine Yuna Voyles, who possesses the ability to deactivate machines. All of these elements are expertly crafted by the phenomenal director, Garth Edwards, who masterfully evokes emotions throughout the movie.
