Picture if you will
28 April 2006
An executive that feels that he can't tell his wife that the families trip to Hawaii has been canceled because his boss demands he work. And, because he's a middle aged man that has been with the company for years and another younger man is trying to get his position, he feels that he has to honor his bosses request and work, or find another job.

Robin Williams pulls this role off with wonderful grace. He makes you really feel for the poor man that has worked so hard to provide his family with material wealth, but forgot along the way about the things that really count in life.

Take a man that is unstable at best, but warm and witty, two kids caught up in their own worlds, and a wife that has her own world, stick them in a rolling motor home and shake and you get a funny mix.

The theater was booming with the laughter as they tackle problems like, getting the racoons out of the oven, and how to empty the sewage without wearing it.

Everyone in my family gives this movie two thumbs up!!

Wonderful Film!
17 March 2006
My daughter and I ventured out last week to take in a movie. The one we had come to see was Shaggy Dog, which we knew was a remake of an older Disney movie but we wanted to give it a shot anyway. We were very glad that we had! We love Tim Allen's movies and other bits of works and thoroughly enjoyed this film. This is a remake, so I guess there is no big secrets as to what the film is about so I'm not going to bore you with repeating what some of these other wonderful reviewers have written as to the plot line.

Just remember, this film was a remake, but it was done so with a twist. It does have some modernizations done to the story line as well as the production.

Two thumbs up from us!

Don't waste your money on this film.

I picked up this movie in the hopes that it was a good suspenseful ghost story. That is not what I got.

This movie must have been produced on a shoe string of a budget, from the odd camera angles to the meandering around the plot, this movie was a big disappointment.

I do believe it had the right ingredients, but just needed more direction and some better actors. The only thing that kept me from turning it off is my curiosity of just how bad this movie could get.

The ending was abrupt, leaving all sorts of questions in the viewers mind. Much like this review.

I do not recommend this flick.

American Gothic (1995–1998)

Departed before it's time!
5 January 2006
I loved this show when it aired on television and was crushed when I found out that someone somewhere decided that it wasn't worthy of being continued! For years I hung onto my copies of this show, ones that I had taped or had someone tape for me. That is until now. The powers that be finally decided to release this beautiful series on DVD and I finally was able to get my eager little hands on the complete set. Which, brings me to this part; the part about that this show is all about.

American Gothic is about good verses evil, basically a struggle between Lucas Buck (that is Buck, with a B). He is an evil sheriff of a South Carolina small town that runs things the way he wants things to be ran and stops at nothing to get his way.

I felt the show was wonderfully written and directed and had lots of life left yet to be lived. I really hated when it was canceled, but that is the way it seems to go for me when I finally find something worth watching on television.

Gary Cole did a great job as the role of Sheriff Lucas Buck, he has just the right amount of charm verses evil to pull it off. The other actors did a super job as well, so I guess you could say, even the casting was a hit with me.

Sneakers (1992)

Sneakers sneaks right in and grabs you!

At first I wasn't sure this movie was going to be much. Prepared to give it a mediocre score, partially to just be nice since it contained work from big names like Robert Redford and Ben Kingsley (who's names didn't appear on the credits on the outside of the package) and more. But this movie did sneak in and grab my attention with it's subtle draw. These people are computer experts, Redfords character is blackmailed because of his past, into doing some work for the government. The task is retrieving a black box, that isn't your run of the mill black box like what is found in air planes, this one has a very powerful secret.

Calendar Girl Murders (1984 TV Movie)
5/10
Not the best, nor the worst
30 December 2005
I picked this movie up off a sale bin at my local store. It basically is a movie about calender girls that pose in the nude, getting killed and the search for that killer. As usual you have a cop caught up in a whirl-wind of confussion and mystery (not to mention his own family and a wife that isn't completely sure she likes her husband hanging out with these thin, very seductive girls.) My copy of the movie isn't of the greatest production quality and the picture is poor. I gave the movie a 5 out of a possible 10 because it is a little slow in places. I have seen worse, so on a good rainy day, it's one of those movies you can pop in and watch while doing something else.
