Game of Thrones (2011)
So I just binged the show in 2 weeks
Well, not entireIy watched season 1 a few years ago and hated it, I was/am a massive lord of the rings fan and killing off the only true good character at the end didn't make me want to see any more. I slogged through season 2 after losing a bet with a friend, then made it to Blackwater. After that episode, I watched the entire show, pretty much all day and into the night for several days. Seasons 3, 4, and 6 were great, 7 was by far the worst, and I didn't think season 8 was that bad (I thought the bells was a great episode) but the finale was truly awful. I honestly think if they had done everything else but put Jon on the Throne instead of Bran, people wouldn't have been so upset. But that one decision killed 10 years of fandom and any rewatch value. Anyways, just my thoughts. I started the first book, glad to be a new member of the community.
Snow Buddies (2008)
The greatest kids movie of all time
My brother and sister watched this on repeat for years as kids. Great visuals and themes about family, honor, and friendship. Also fantastic action. Cute dogs talking and also racing against wolves in a dog sled race. Each dog has a unique personality that kids can relate to and even name their stuffed animals after. My parents probably got really tired of watching it and gave us Santa Buddies instead. Pretty good, but not as good as this God-given holy piece of entertainment. 10/10.
The Show (2020)
Not another murder mystery
Famous comic writer Alan Moore's first film feels like one of his graphic novels. He most likely wrote a comic script and gave it to a director instead of an illustrator. The pacing is more akin to a comic book than a film. With a comic you can slow down and read it at your own pace, but with a film some things fly by too quickly and things, like the dozens of similar names and faces, can be missed. This lead to the ending not hitting like most other shocking and satisfying Moore endings, but I can see how it would play better on a rewatch. The film had probably the most realistic dream sequences in film, the nightmare scenes felt like they filmed inside an actual nightmare. Love the immense detail in the production, sound, and costume design, even with the obviously smaller budget. Great performances, even from Moore himself, and great direction from Jenkins. Definitely will play better on a rewatch.
That Damn Michael Che (2021)
A modern Chapelle show
A fantastic, creative take on political America. Michael Che's personal opinions are the center of the show, and it is very remeniscint of his stand up.
