Without a doubt Seth Rogen's worst film
8 October 2009
Seth Rogen has imprinted his name as one of the funniest if not THE funniest comedian actor as of today and whenever he seems to land a role in a comedy it sparkles gold. Observe and Report is probably the only exception.

The movie seemed to come out of nowhere and did not get a lot of publicity which is rather odd for a film starring Seth Rogen. He had many previous hits that made him into the A-listed star he is today like 40 year-old virgin, Knocked Up, Superbad, Pineapple Express and Zack and Miri Make a Porno. I thought all of those films he was in were extremely funny and seeing him use weak jokes in awkward situations in this film was a serious let down. I guess it was one of those situations that the director wanted to make a comedy and wanted an A-list comedian. Seth Rogen being the nice humble guy he is, probably couldn't turn down the role no matter how unfunny he thought it was.

The movie had jokes that give you a chuckle and not a huge laugh like in his other movies. The movie was more grotesque and shocking than funny in my opinion. Rogen playing a Bi-polar mall cop gives many moments where he outbursts his anger in situations which I guess was intended to be funny. But like I said the film all around was awkward and dragged on too long. The storyline was pointless and the characters weren't interesting or funny enough to keep me from despising it. All in all Observe and Report is an unfunny comedy, which I guess wouldn't make it a comedy, so I guess you can just call it a movie starring Seth Rogen with other actors trying to make jokes.

Se7en (1995)
10/10
My favorite movie of all time for a number of different reasons
8 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Se7en is unlike any other movie I have seen before. This movie made me realize the genius of David Fincher. Each scene developed brings a different mindset to the audience because of the surreal art direction that gets into the psyche of the viewer. Each moment on screen gives you a feeling of what it is really like to be in the mind of someone who is insane. Andrew Kevin Walker writes a story that is daring, complex, and brilliant.

The movie starts off with Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman inspecting the first murder and the different personalities each detective has in the way they work. Brad Pitt's rebellious attitude and Morgan Freeman's old school antics is a great team of bold and brass. As each murder occurs, we can see the different reaction it has on the detectives and the way their stature is shaken by these events. Each different gruesome murder found increases the shock factor for the audience. To think that one man can do such manipulative and sadistic acts leaves the viewer stunned and wanting more. David Fincher couldn't have created a more suspenseful and elaborate plot to keep the audience on edge.

While Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman play their role to a T, the real star of the movie is yes SPOILER: John Doe himself as played by Kevin Spacey. The shear brilliance of this character is amazing and makes you uneasy with how intellectual and cunning he really is. The famous scene in which he gives himself up to the cops leaves you saying WHAT?! WHY?! and asking many other questions. While this is his first appearance on screen in the film, the presence of his character only gets better as the movie progresses.

The second most famous scene to me has to the be the long monologue the two detectives and John have in the car ride on the way to the murder scene. This to me is one of the most memorable pieces of dialog in any movie i can remember. The genius of this scene is shown mostly in the ways Kevin Spacey answers the questions the detectives throw at him. Example when he questions Detective Mills about the fact that the people he murdered were innocent, actually leaves yourself questioning, Is John Doe really the evil one, or is society the devil itself? This was just a prelude to the most amazing ending to any movie I can remember.

After the long car drive to the scene where John Doe is supposedly showing the detectives where the last two victims of his grand scheme are held, the unexpected hits you like a speeding bullet. In my opinion, I believe that the majority of the people who watched this movie think the last two victims were Mills and Somerset themselves and John Doe was just luring them to the be the final victims of his masterpiece. But David Fincher and company leave you with your jaw dropped and eyes wide open. As the scene progresses, a van is seen coming towards their direction. A man comes out saying he is supposed to deliver a box to a Detective Mills at this time. At this point I'm thinking what in the world could be in that box? Is it a bomb? But as Detective Somerset goes to investigate the box and John Doe says that he admires Detective Mills life, it all slowly starts to piece together.

Once Doe mentions he admires him and his wife Tracy, everything starts to make sense. Once you find out Mills wife Tracy's head is in the box you are left speechless with eyes glued to the screen and cannot look away. John Doe's famous line, "It seems that Envy is my sin" is one of the biggest twists in movie history. And finally telling Detective Mills, "Become vengeance, Become wrath" is still one of the spookiest lines spoken on film to date. When Doe is shot and everything is over, you honestly have no idea how you feel. Its an assortment of feelings like amazement, sorrow, shock and disbelief. A great film is a film that you can watch over and over again and not get bored. This was one of those movies for me.This is by far my favorite movie off all time and if you watch this classic, maybe it will become a personal favorite of yours as well.

Very happy they brought back the originals
8 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
We loved the Fast and the Furious franchise for three cars, hot girls, and the duo of Paul Walker and Vin Diesel. I was so happy that they brought back another Fast and the Furious movie with the original characters because the Tokyo Drift film prior to this couldn't have been more irrelevant to the franchise.

The movie starts off by starting the film with what the series is best known for, hot cars and Vin Diesel stunt-driving in a hot car along with Michelle Rodriguez who I have always loved. The adrenaline rush you get just from the opening scene makes you smile ans say YES the Fast and the Furious is back. After the fuel truck is done flipping and exploding, a second scene takes place of a detective tracking down a vigilante on a wild foot chase. You know who this is, Brian O'Conner. Just from the first two scenes of exploding fuel trucks and a guy driving another guy through a two story window leaves you saying wow, well it did for me anyway.

After all the action has cleared, the main story of the film starts to take place in which Dom leaves to escape from getting caught by the cops once again. Months after his departure, he gets a phone call from his sister Mia saying Letty was murdered. Now the emotional tone of the film sets when one of the loving characters from the franchise is gone. The entire film focuses on Dom getting revenge against the gang that murdered Letty as does it also focus on Paul Walker's character tracking down the same group of people. Fast and the Furious 4, if thats what you wanna call it, sticks to what it was known for and thats what fans of the movie want to see. There are great heart pumping scenes of fast car chases that never lets up. The ending with Dom going to jail, and then having Brian and Mia trying to get him out couldn't have been a more perfect ending. For those who are wanting what they gave you in the first Fast and the Furious movie, this one is just that.

Below average horror film, average film at best
8 October 2009
Haunting in Connecticut is claimed to be based on true events. Almost every movie with the tag "Based on True Events" deems the audience to believe the movie will deliver an extremely frightening experience. That is certainly not the case in this movie. While the claims of the true events are true about a family in the 1980's moving into a house that they believe is possessed, the movie tends to blow the true story way out of proportion.

Haunting in Connecticut is definitely more interesting than scary. I was more interested by the plot than the scary moments that surprised me because well, there weren't that many. The actors in the movies played their roles well but seriously, who looks for good acting in a horror movie? The story about how their sick son, who was seeing a ghostly boy child was the best part of the film. Him seeing visions of him and uncovering the past history of the house was great but the interesting plot was not enough to help the weak script and minor scary moments. Haunting in Connecticut was a let down for me and if you're looking for a movie to be scared, I don't recommend this one. If you are going to check this out, watch it for the story.

Martyrs (2008)
6/10
So creepy and disturbing that I didn't like it that much
8 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I thought Martyrs had a great concept but I guess the timing of me watching this disturbing film made me not like it as much as I should have. I was expecting a normal horror film with gory scenes but did not expect what I witnessed. First of all I took a random movie off the shelf of the horror section and said, "Oh this looks creepy lets watch it." I didn't even know the film was in French so you already know my little knowledge of this movie.

During each scene of child abuse and vicious bloodbaths, I had mixed feelings of shock and uneasiness. The intensity of this film is off the radar and there are many instances that catch you off guard. For example one scene in particular I recall is when they cut to a scene where they show a normal family having a conversation at the kitchen table and all of a sudden the doorbell rings. As the father goes to open the door, unexpectedly a young teenage girl with a shotgun blows him to bits. This was just one of many scenes that left me with my mouth hanging open and left my skin crawling.

Martyrs is a VERY disturbing film psychologically because the premise of the films subject about people being tortured in order to achieve a "Martyr" type level, leaves the viewer dismayed. I myself can say I haven't seen a movie in a long time that deals with violence and torture in the sense that Martyrs did. I thought this was a unique film with an eerie concept but the shock level of the film was too high for my liking. If have no problem with extreme violence and torture and looking for a movie based on something you haven't seen before, check this one out. Certainly not for the faint of heart

slappa da bass!!
7 October 2009
I Love You Man delivers with its odd predicament about a man in search of a best man for his wedding. Something that very few men watching this movie would relate to which is why this movie is so hilarious. Paul Rudd has definitely proved he can be one of the funniest actors in any comedy and it doesn't just have to be people like Seth Rogen or Will Ferrel taking over the comedy world.

I Love You man consists of hilarious one liners that will have you quoting the movie days after watching. Jason Segel is a great co-star to Paul Rudd and the two make a great comedic duo. The situations the two of them get into are awkward and so bizarre that you cant help but laugh at the scenarios. The thing I loved most about the movie were the many pop culture references and guest appearance by Lou Ferrigno. This movie also made me love Rush more than I already do. Go see and enjoy this movie for its many laughs

A remake that pays homage to the original and if anything, surpasses it
7 October 2009
Many remakes of horror movies are dismally made and shed far from what the original was trying to present ex: (Psycho, Friday 13) or basically an Asian horror movie ever made. But Last House on the Left does something that most remakes don't and thats keep the shock factor and increase it. I was a huge fan of Wes Craven's original Last House on the Left and was iffy when I heard they were remaking this because I was worried about them ruining a classic. But that was certainly not the case in this movie.

In my opinion no one plays a sadistic serial murderer better than David Hess did in the original but Garret Dillahunt pulls off a pretty good version of the cynical Krug. All of the characters personalities were changed slightly to make them more modern-day relevant and I thought that was a great change they made. Sarah Paxton plays the lead role of Mari Collingwood great and each scene of torment she is in, you can really feel the emotion and struggle her character goes through. Martha MacIsaac is also great as Mari's friend Paige who is equally tormented.

The thing that I loved most about Last House on the Left is the fact each actor portrayed their character so well. Whether it was the mother and father feeling the pain and sorrow of their daughter being tortured or the killers feeling no remorse what so ever for their sick actions. Each scene keeps you on the edge of your seat and leaves you in suspense for how it will turn out. For anyone who was a fan of the first one, check this one out because this is one remake that does not destroy the original.

Push (2009)
5/10
Complex plot with not many memorable scenes
7 October 2009
The idea of Push about people with different types of psychic powers was an interesting topic that made me want to see it. The film as a whole however, does not keep you interested in many scenes.

Push's complex plot outline about a man and a girl trying to save another girl from a ruthless government sounds appealing but just doesn't deliver the goods. From the start of the movie you see how the director was trying to show the audience the hard conditions of a man living in Hong Kong and struggling to find out the meaning of his fathers last words to him. Some scenes develop faster than others but the pace of the film leaves you slouching in your seat waiting for something interesting to happen. The action scenes do not last very long and there were many moments I don't recall all that well because they were so dull and forgettable.

Push has a pretty decent cast in Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning, Camilla Belle and Djimon Hounsou but the strong set of characters placed in the film cannot make up for the weak script. In short, don't expect an amazing film, expect an average action film with an AVERAGE interesting story to go with that

Coraline (2009)
7/10
Intriguing, good characters, but still missing something
6 October 2009
I was drawn to this movie due to the fact Henry Sellick directed it who brought us the timeless classic Nightmare Before Christmas. Coraline has many of the same elements Henry Sellick uses in his movies but it was still missing something to me to make it a great movie.

Henry is a master at creating unique characters that amaze the audience. Coraline is no exception as the different characters and amazing scenery is what stuck out to me the most. The plot of the movie was also on point about a young girl escaping the real dismal world into a fantasy world where anything is possible. Many other aspects of the movie make it great as well like the amazing score and art direction but the pace of the movie is what slightly bothered me.

Some scenes in the movie to me were drawn out too long and the point some of the characters were trying to make were halted for some unnecessary scenes. I guess with the many different characters in the film, there needs to be a lot of screen time to get their story across, but some scenes to me were not needed and dragged the film a little longer than it needed to be.

But overall, Henry Sellick still proves he is a master of creating unique characters, stunning imagery and developing a great musical score to make any movie of his a must see. While Coraline has some flaws, it is still a good movie and a recommendation for anyone whose a fan of his work. 7/10

Zombieland (2009)
8/10
An unexpected hit
6 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Everyone rates movies differently but I rate a movie on how much I enjoyed the film and with that being said, Zombieland gets a 10/10 for me. This zombie action comedy flick sparkles with its hilarious twist on the idea of a zombie plague and hilarious cast.

The idea of spoofing the classic zombie outrage was first introduced to us by Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg in the hilarious Shaun of the Dead. The creators of this movie who were inspired by that classic deliver a movie that is as witty and hilarious as Shaun could be. The thing that amazed me most by Zombieland was the fact that it kept me interested and laughing out of my seat from beginning to end. Starting with the very first scene of the movie where Columbus is explaining his rules, pulls you in from there and you never look back. But the real star of the movie is of course Woodie Harrelson. Imagine his character from Natural Born Killers turn up the funny but instead for a knack of killing humans, its zombies. He pulls his role off flawlessly as the Zombie killing machine, Tallahassee, with a twinky fetish.

Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin are great in their roles as well. Their characters show the love two siblings have for one another when everyone else in the world has vanished. The mixture of tough and bad ass action scenes, along with funny and sympathetic ones is greatly spread throughout this film. And lets not forget the great cameo by Bill Murray. This was just an extra bit the makers of this movie threw in their to make a great film even more exceptional.

Zombieland is a great zombie action comedy that will remain as a favorite for a while. Go and see this and hopefully you will enjoy it as much I did.

Pulp Fiction (1994)
10/10
Tarantino's greatest, and every other actor in this movie's greatest achievement
4 October 2009
Pulp- "A soft moist shapeless mass of matter" Pulp Fiction- one of the greatest movies not just of the 90's but possibly all time and will not be surpassed by any of its genre for quite some time.

This movie sparks the genius and creativity of Quentin Tarantino. A single masterpiece that gives you almost everything you could look for in Crime, Suspense and Drama. Each storyline that is thrown at you drags you in for a wild ride that leaves you wanting more with each scene and climax. Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary deliver the biggest set of characters in any other movie I could possibly remember. After learning that this movie only won one Academy Award for best screenplay I thought what a sham. Nothing against Forrest Gump at all but this movie blew me away with each scene as it developed and if this movie did not deserve best picture, no other movie did.

The cast of this film is incredible with such A-list actors such as John Travolta, Samuel L Jackson, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis, Ving Rhames and many many other great performances. Each story drags you into the lives of each character and each is just intriguing as the next. Samuel Jackson is the star of this picture in my opinion because with each line of dialog he delivers keeps you in awe and amazement. This movie will stick in my mind for years to come and I'm sad I didn't embrace this epic earlier. Pulp Fiction is in every way a masterpiece, nothing else to say

As good as the first Street Fighter movie.....enough said
1 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I believe the only reason this film was being released was to build up hype for the new Street Fighter IV video game...which gives me little hope that the new Tekken film will be anything close to good. This movie was one of those movies that you watch for about 10 minutes and you're thinking, are they serious??? The acting is horrible, plot is stupid and when you look at the cast before you even see the movie you already know its going to be a bad movie. To name a few, Kristen Kreuk as Chun Li: OK she wasn't that bad in the movie but as a fan of the game, when I think Chun Li I definitely don't think Lana from Smallville. Taboo as Vega: OK I don't know what the hell they were thinking when they mad this casting role because this itself screams box office flop. Chris Klein as Charlie Nash: definitely without a doubt the worst actor in the entire movie. Every time he tried to turn his tough guy attitude on it was way more awkward than intimidating. Robin Shou as Gen: Robin Shou obviously can't say no to any action movie he is offered. Mortal Kombat was enough Robin, stop ruining other classic fighting games turned into movies. And finally Neal McDonough as M. Bison: let me repeat that Neal McDonough as M. Bison???? WHAT?!?!? Neal is nowhere near anything close to resembling Bison's look or attitude.

Did not criticize Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog because I am a fan of his, but the character in my opinion was pointless in this movie. And the only reason I gave this movie a 2 and not a 1 out of 10 is because of Moon Bloodgood. She is such a stunning and beautiful actress and without her appearance on screen, I would have had no recollection of this movie whatsoever after I watched it. She is such an underrated actress and needs to be put out there in way better roles than this piece of crap.

There were many instances in this film that had me go what the hell was that? (For example the spinning bird kick was one of the most awkward things in the movie) and all the acting was beyond laughable. And to put the icing on the cake, the ending where Gen goes, "There's a fighter in Japan. Ryu......something" was the biggest shame this movie could possibly put on a classic video game series. Don't waste your time watching the movie, instead play the video game and you'll get way more joy out of that.

Fired Up! (2009)

Like most comments on here, SURPRISINGLY funny
1 October 2009
This movie did not intrigue me at all when it was first announced and I waited until it came out on DVD until I saw it. But overall it was an enjoyable funny teen comedy with hilarious moments. Fired Up is basically your typical teen movie with high school jocks obsessed with hooking up with hot high school girls. Ignoring the cliché plot, the two leads of the movie in Nick D'Agosto and Eric Christian Olsen are a great pair. There are definitely some lines in the film that you will have quoting after watching and hot teenage girls in cheer leading uniforms can never be a bad thing. Sarah Roemer is absolutely stunning and not a bad actor to boot. Go check this low budget comedy out for the laughs

Funny People (2009)
7/10
Appropriate title, movie however is lacking Judd Apatow roots
30 September 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Movie title is very appropriate because you have some of the funniest people in Hollywood today such as Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Leslie Mann, and many hilarious celebrity cameos. HOWEVER, compared to other Judd Apatow classics, this movie pales in comparison. And the hype surrounding this movie made it seem better than it actually was.

Judd Apatow is becoming that director that audiences seem can do no wrong and every movie composed by him will be a hilarious epic after the other. Those were the cases in the 40-year old virgin and Knocked Up but Funny People has its flaws. From the first opening minutes of the movie you can definitely see the tone of this movie is much much different than Apatow's previous films. That might have been the biggest problem this movie had with me because it seemed Judd tried to create a different mood to sway a different target audience instead of keeping to his roots that made his previous movies so enjoyable. Allow me to explain this synopsis.

The movie is about an aging comedian George Simmons who is diagnosed with a disease that is life-threatening. The plot itself makes you think differently of Apatow because the sadness and depression this movie brings at moments is definitely different than any of his other films. Seth Rogen comes in as a small time stand up comedian hired to write jokes for Simmons and in my opinion any movie Seth Rogen is in will definitely give it a plus for me. He is IMHO the funniest guy in Hollywood as of right now.

The jokes in Funny People were very creative and had me laughing hard at moments so lets not think too negatively of this film. The funniest part of this movie to me were the many and i mean MANY hilarious celebrity cameos(Eminem being my favorite) but I mean you had star names like Sarah Silverman, Ray Ramano and even James Taylor having hilarious moments. Leslie Mann, being in every Judd Apatow movie, proves yet again she can be one of the funniest women in Hollywood and this movie brought out a side of Eric Bana no one thought was possible. Smaller roles like Jonah Hill and Jason Schartzman play their role very well and add a great deal of humor to this film.

While i enjoyed this movie more than I didn't it did have many flaws that I could point out but biggest one to me was the length in it being 2 and a half hours long. This flaw was probably the biggest reason this movie was not successful at the box office because audiences aren't going to see a 2 and a half movie a second time. While not being the best Judd Apatow film to date, you have to still give credit to him for still compiling a great cast and still delivering many memorable jokes. A movie you have to see at least once.

A lower rating than Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen? Now that's wrong
30 September 2009
I will admit I wasn't expecting an epic classic movie out of G.I Joe but what I liked about it was that it was exactly what I expected it to be and that is lots of cool action scenes and not too much over the top humor. I add the title about Transformers because we all know Transformers 2 did not live up to the hype and we all know the humor in that movie is what pretty much ruined the film. G.I Joe however wasn't too hyped, it made much more sense and it was much more satisfying in my opinion. There were some pretty cheesy moments and the plot outline was sort of scattered around everywhere, but to be serious, a movie starring Channing Tatum about a G.I Joe movie you can't expect good acting or a serious plot. Enjoy the movie for what it is and that's great and I mean GREAT action sequences. Lets hope the sequel takes the story a little more serious next time.

Never read the book? Go see it. You have? Don't expect much
30 September 2009
I never read the book or the series for that matter so I guess my opinion doesn't matter but I'm on a mission to review every movie I saw in 2009 so here it goes. I thought the movie was funnier and more mature than the other Potter films but of course every negative comment i see here is about taking out scenes like the epic battle at the end, the character of Bill and many and I mean MANY scenes. I read somewhere that they took out many of these scenes because they are building up everything to be amazing for the last book. Well lets hope so because this movie was as disappointing as the second Transformers movie. Stick to the book director and please the fans. Expect a huge disappointment from this movie if you are a die hard fan.

Pretty Pointless
29 September 2009
Another reason to me why Hollywood should stop remaking movies. And of all movies to remake they do it to a horror franchise that has been dead for almost 20 years. They already did Freddy vs Jason and I kind of like that movie but this movie makes about as much sense as why they made 20 Friday the 13th movies in the first place. Don't be intrigued by the trailer and ads saying "from producer Michael Bay" because its just to bring in a wider audience but if you have seen any Michael Bay films, the only thing this film has in common with those is horrible acting and boobs galore. I will admit this movie was not boring because I was laughing at many moments (most of them not intended to be funny of course) and seeing stupid drunk pot headed teenagers getting killed is always a plus. If you are ever gonna see this movie, watch it with no intentions of being scared, but watch it when you're drunk to get the most joy out of it.

Not as good as the first two, but definitely worth seeing if a fan
26 September 2009
Underworld Rise of the Lycans is a great prequel to a popular franchise created. While not as good as the first two there are still great elements that stay true to the series and answer some questions you had in the first two movies. Rhona Mitra has a great performance as the daughter of the vampire lord falling in love with the werewolf slave in Michael Sheen. Bill Nighy is great as usual and the action sequences were top notch. Most prequels do not give you what you want and leave you somewhat confused and unsatisfied but Rise of the Lycans surely delivers. Also the ending with Kate Beckinsale was a nice homage to the series. A good pickup for fans of Underworld.

Watchmen (2009)
4/10
Not my type of movie...
25 September 2009
Hearing about Watchmen I was very intrigued with the idea and the characters and scenery looked very good from what I saw in the trailer so I definitely was excited to check this one out. Being directed by Zack Snyder who I am a big fan of I had high expectations for this movie. But sadly I was left unsatisfied and drained.

The best way I would describe this movie is like riding King-Da-Ka at six flags; at the very beginning you get all this adrenaline built up in you and just like that all the excitement is over. I think the weakness of this movie was probably all the different characters and how it tried to follow all the back stories of each character and in doing so made this movie boring to me. I know this movie is based on a famous graphic novel(which i have never read) so I did not know what to expect. The movie was 2 hours and 40 minutes and was probably the longest I've ever felt watching a movie in a long time. It honestly bored me to death and I didn't find the plot, characters, or many other sequences very interesting. This is just one person's opinion but like I always say, the only way to know if a movie is good or bad, go watch it yourself.

The Hangover (2009)
10/10
Funniest movie I have ever seen, and I've seen them ALL
25 September 2009
This movie to me is not only the funniest movie I've seen so far in my life but also the BEST movie I have seen in 2009 so far. Todd Phillips (known also for directing Old School) delivers a smash hit that will stick in my mind for a very long time.

The movie consists of many actors not very popular but they couldn't have picked better people to portray these Roles. Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and the hilarious Zack Galifianakis are the best trio in any comedy movie I can remember. I have seen this movie 3 times in theaters and each time it felt like I had never seen it before because I was laughing out of my seat almost every scene. If you are having a bad day, watch this movie and you will laugh so hard you won't remember what a bad day is.

As bad as I thought it was going to be...
25 September 2009
In one of the FAQ's about this movie I read, "They are pushing the release date back so they have more time to work on special effects so it won't have to compete with other movies coming out." Did they mean compete for worst movie in history to have a budget that big??? They knew it was going to be bad so why make this stupid film? They have ruined the Dragonball franchise and all the actors in this movie should be ashamed to be in some dribble like this. NONE of the characters portrayed even close to the original characters from the series and I'm surprised this movie wasn't directed by Uwe Boll. Oh wait one more thing, if for some god awful reason there is going to be a sequel based on the after credits scene, I will never watch another movie associated with any of these actors, directors, producers, distributors or whatever. And why the hell would you put another scene during the credits? Because as soon as this piece of crap is over, people are gonna rush to get the hell out of the theater so obviously no one is gonna see the scene. Gamer (2009)
6/10
Way better than I expected. Will probably be one of the most underrated movies of the year
25 September 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I will start off by admitting I thought this movie was going to suck big time just judging it from the trailer but once again i love getting proved wrong from being so naive. We all know and love the star of this movie Gerard Butler from the intense action flick 300 and while his role in this movie is nowhere near the area of his King Leonidas role, he still delivers a very entertaining hit in this film.

This movie is not for everyone and I am not gonna argue with people who hated it because it is very easy to hate a movie like this. Gamer is directed by Neveldine & Taylor (co-directors of the Crank franchise) and this film does not shed too far from the roots of Crank. I believe the first two scenes of this movie set the tone quickly as the action sequences kick in and blood and gore spill across a battlefield like a violent video game is taking place......oh wait it is a video game. I thought the plot and premise of this movie was intriguing and interesting throughout about humans controlling other "Slayers" and wanting to escape. The action sequences were well shot in my opinion and the plot kept you very interested. There are many scenes of bloody violence, panty shots, occasional boobage, and a few disturbing sights of a disgusting obese perverted man in a wheelchair. I recall in about the first 20 minutes of the movie about 5 ppl walked out obviously from the profound violence and suggestive content.

You may think I am bashing this movie but not the case, I enjoyed this film very much but I am just giving people a heads up on what to expect. If you are not a fan of gory violence, or some sights of scantily clad women then this movie is certainly not for you. But if you are looking for a movie with cool action sequences and awkwardly funny moments (even though some of the scenes aren't meant to be funny) then you should check this out. Think of this as a Tarantino type film if you were to cut an hour off an skip all the dialogue. Oh yeah and Terry Crews plays a small role in this film but i never get tired of seeing Terry Crews on film. 7/10

Overall a funny dark comedy, way better than I expected, don't be so quick to judge
18 September 2009
Let me start off by saying the amount of criticism towards before it's even released is ridiculous. Many people are bashing this movie for lets face it, the fact Megan Fox is starring in it. Give the girl a break people, we all know she can't act well but thats what someone with looks gives you, a movie meant not for acting credentials but meant for pure silly fun, which is what Jennifer's Body is. Secondly, anyone who says this movie will suck because they think the trailer looks stupid or the plot sounds retarded, i shun. There have been thousands of cases where a movie looks bad at first from a trailer but ends up being a good movie. You will never know if a movie is good until you actually go see it yourself. Don't let someone else decide for you if a movie is good if you haven't even seen it yet.

OK now lets get to the movie, I admit when I first heard of this movie I did not have high expectations but I gave it a chance, given that it was written my Diablo Cody(writer of Juno) and I must say she delivers once again. This movie of course won't get the praise that Juno did but it's still overall a fun entertaining movie that you could enjoy. Megan Fox stars as Jennifer Check, a high school girl who turns into a boy-eating demon due to an unfortunate incident. Now majority of the people who will hate this movie are: A- people who despise Megan Fox because she is simply a pretty face with amateur acting capabilities. Or B- because they hate movies with sex and gore.

Allow me to answer those two right away. You already know its starring Megan Fox so if you think you will simply hate it just for her and ignore the fact this movie contains other great characters, than don't bother seeing it. And the movie from its trailer, is obviously bloody and has sex in it due to the fact its Rated R for "bloody violence and sexuality" (God people read the ratings before watching a movie) If you don't have a problem with these two elements than you should be fine watching it.

Again this movie is a dark-comedy, and not an Oscar caliber movie but just enjoy the movie for what it is. I thought the humor wasn't overdone and had me laughing at many moments. Amanda Seyfried has a wonderful performance as Megan's "sidekick" so to speak and the plot is somewhat simple but still enjoyable. Overall i came into the theater with low expectations but left thinking of a good popcorn flick. Give this movie a chance and maybe you will like it.

District 9 (2009)
9/10
An inventive and creative sci-fi story that redefines the genre
27 August 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I cannot remember another science fiction movie in a long time that made me leave the theater wanting more. District 9 takes the cliché concept of aliens on earth to something completely new that we have never seen before. The movie starts off kind of slow to let the audience take in the story of the aliens landing on earth, but after the story is explained, an epic adventure about the race of both humans and PRAWNS begins.

In most movies about aliens, the plot consists of evil aliens landing on earth and then having a wild cat and mouse chase of aliens versus humans...NOT the case in this movie. For the first time Neil Blomkamp and Peter Jackson twist it around and make you feel what it is like to be on the alien side of the story and the emotions and struggles they have trying to cope with the human race on our planet. Almost every scene in which a human is abusing one of the PRAWNS, your heart sinks slightly and you cant help but feel sorry for them. The makers of this movie leave you with emotions of anticipation, depression and anxiety through each scene as it develops.

Sharlto Copley, (unknown to me before this movie) plays his role perfectly as a once enemy to the alien race to a half turned ally towards them. His struggles through his transformation and escape is equally heart-felt as is the back-story to the prawns. The special effects and scenery were as good as any other science fiction movie i've seen in quite some time.

If you are looking for a different and innovative movie about aliens and something you haven't seen before, i suggest you check this movie out right away. It is one of the best reviewed movies this year by far and i can see why. Do not miss your chance to see this classic

Even if you're a fan, you have to admit the idea of a movie is stupid
29 June 2009
SO basically i feel the need to make this to put some sense into people who are both in love with this movie and hate it with a passion. I gave it a 1/10 so u obviously know mine. But thats not the point, these are IMDb REVIEW BOARDS people, not expression of opinion boards where you can take your anger out on the Joe Bros or explain how you want to kill all of the haters.

Now im going to say that i do NOT like the Jonas Brothers at all and let me give my opinion on why. Not because they have a fan base of crazy pre-teen girls, not because they are virgin Christian boys, and not because they are a Disney formed creation of a band (ok partially that) but what i do hate is the fact they somehow HAVE TO make a movie about their freken concert???? and in 3-D nonetheless???? If you are a Jonas Brothers fan sit down and think to yourself, they are making a movie.....about a band's concert.....in the big screens....in 3-D!!!!! Now doesn't that sound just a little retarded to you??? My favorite band is Metallica but if Metallica were to come out with a movie, about their Death Magnetic concert.....in 3-D i would say to myself what in the blue hell are they doing making a movie like this?!?!?!? Despite how much i love the band.

If the Joe Bros are a band then there is no reason they should be making a movie on the big screens. Stick to the television sets on the Disney channel to please your fan base. I mean seriously people you're going to spend $10 on a movie thats 76 min. long that you could probably see the exact same material online OR Disney channel???? Oh, wait mom, its in 3- D!!!!! WE HAVE TO SEE IT CUZ OF THAT!!!!!

Honestly, for those of you who are under the age of 16 and have an IMDb account, i suggest you delete it right away because lets face it, you have no respect by anyone on this site, you have no idea what an actual review of a movie should be and you're just inflating this site with users who don't know how to review a movie properly. All in all, this movie is horrible, for the fact it isn't a movie. It's the Disney channel on a big screen, in 3-D. Save your money, watch the Jonas series at home, and lets face it, when the Jonas Brothers turn 20, they'll disappear off the face of the earth and you'll be saying to yourself, Jonas who????
