American Horror Stories: Drive (2022)
Glad when it was over
I can not believe that the AHS franchise would hire Bella Thorn for one of their episodes. Her acting in this was mediocre at best. The other actors did not deliver great acting performances either. The whole urban legend aspect could have been left out and the story still would have worked. This episode would have been much better with different actors. The story was there but it was delivered poorly. Some tweaking on the script with better actors (maybe seasoned AHS alumni) would have made it much more believable and enjoyable to watch. I love the AMS shows but this one was painful it sit through to the finish.
The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez (2020)
A reminder to pay attention to what is going on
This poor sweet boy. I can only imagine the abuse that be this little one was put through. I a child abus survivor. No one ever came forward for me . I was beat, emotional abused and sexual abused for years by my mother's boyfriend/ husband. I know the pain physically but mostly mentally that i was subjected to. I watched this series with a VERY heavy heart knowing the guilt and betrayal this little one went through. How could a mother allow this to happen to her child, her flesh and blood. It amazes me how a woman can choose a man over her own child and then participate in the abuse and murder of her baby boy. I am pleased with the verdict in the boyfriends case but feel the mother should not have been allowed to make an agreement. The only comfort I find in her sentence...is that she will live among women who do not approve of her compliance and participation of her son's abuse, torture, & death. Hopefully they will provide her with mothers' justice behind bars. . Gabriel you were such a beautiful soul. I find comfort in the fact that you do not have to contend with the daily abuse and torture you received. RIP little one.
Secrets in the Water (2021)
Storyline was solid, everything else not so much
This could've been a great who done it but...the acting was terrible by 98% of the cast! The scenery was beautiful and the story was interesting just very badly portrayed. They could have spent more time in the beginning focusing on the background of the characters and their relationships to one another. I feel like there were a lot of holes that could have been filled to make it smoothly transition from the introduction of the characters to the murder, to the investigations of potential suspects and finally the climax. Worst of all, it doesn't take Sherlock Holmes or even Dora the Explorer to figure out who the murderer is. I chalk that up mostly to awful acting. If you are looking for a decent thriller/mystery, skip this one.
