Dark Shadows (2012)
disappointment
I'm a big time Burton fan, even have a tattoo of TNBC but this film is lame and I'm getting really really bored of the j depp and h b carter characters in EVERY single one of his films, both good actors but jeez cast some fresh faces Tim tired old relationships Alice, Charlie and the chocolate factory, corpse bride, dark shadow, Sweeney Todd feels a bit like watching an extended version of the same film except it gets more tedious and boring, will definitely not sit through this rubbish again!!!!!
only small saving grace is a fairly good performance by Chloe grace Moretz and a OK performance by Michelle Pfeifer, otherwise boring. the only thing this film offers that differs from the usual Tim Burton styling is less light and more shad, in most of his films there is an equal balance of bright colours (in corpse bride the underworld was colourful in image and in soul compared to the surface world where everything was grey!) Johhny Depp as Barnabus is dull as a vampire, overacted and far too much make up with far too much obvious confusion when he comes to the more modern world, no surprises and none of his his usual unexpected wit, the jokes are not funny and i think 4 year olds would be able to guess the plot as it unfolds!
The Adventures of Pinocchio (1984)
love it
although the animation is not anywhere near as good as the Disney version, I grew up watching this film and love it just as much now as I did when I was a child. The story shows more in depth the journey he takes to become a real boy than the Disney version, and in 2009, having recently purchased the afore mentioned deluxe DVD that was predicted in the previous comment, I still found myself wanting to reminisce by watching this version also. its a good lesson for children growing up and offers more story lines to follow. As previously mentioned though, the Disney version is also a must see if you haven't already, but this version offers a more classic look at the tale instead of the more modern twist we see in the Disney version. it reminds me far more of reading/watching fairy tales and the old Grimm Bros classic than the Disney version. I think the previous comment sold this film way short and anyone who likes the tale of Pinocchio should watch this film with an open mind. great film and still a fan at 22.
Always Say Goodbye (1997)
knowing what to expect!
not a bad movie at all once you get over the initial shock of it being nothing like desperate housewives or Marcia cross' character in it,Bree hodge/van derkamp! the film itself has enough to keep any viewer interested and sometimes even a little enthralled and could easily pass as a good film but i do think the title is misleading, I know i only bought it because I love desperate housewives and wanted to see more! However, any Marcia Cross fans out there will definitely be happy, there is enough nudity for it to be sexy but not enough to be anything like porn, the nudity is quite conservative and plays a small but important role in the character development. The sex is sexy! and the characters are believable, if at times a little confusing. Some very funny moments and some very embarrassing ones that can be related to by most me and wome.Overall a good film with some interesting characters and plot lines.
Definitely not a waste of time watching this but don't buy it just for the desperate housewives association because you will be sorely disappointed!
