Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father (2008)
Mesmerizing and disturbing.
Absolutely mesmerizing and disturbing, but yet the filmmakers nobility dignifies the true intention of a film that is not only the story of a crime but also a caring legacy for the people who experienced it. A testimony of how life can continue after the most incomprehensible horror.
Dear Zachary is not just another dead-child saga. It´s true that you really have to have a stomach to travel through the harsh telling of an absolute heartbreaking story. It´s much more than the tearing apart of a family. But still if you are able to get through it, you´ll see that the true intention of the film is not plainly morbid. There´s much more to it. It´s about healing. Makes you think that is someone who´s been through such a tragedy in life can think helpful to others, then we should all find the strength somewhere to carry on.
Being that said, you´ll probably not watch it more than once. At least I won´t.
