Why Did I Delay Watching This?
6 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Man I am not even able to put all my thoughts into words. I needed to rewind the last 5 minutes of the finale and rewatch it to truly let the fact that it has come to an end to sink in. I have largely watched comedies up until now, and this is easily the best written non-comedy show I have seen as of now (I hear BCS will change this so will give it some time before I start it). From the get go it had me hooked in.

I usually have difficulties with connecting to shows where I don't connect to the characters. Here I may not morally agree with Walter or Jesse, nor even root for them (although I did go with the flow and wished for their best at a few points), yet I felt connected to them. As someone who had multiple members of his family who were struck by cancer, this show made me quite emotional at times, but I found myself becoming more accepting of the dislike I had for Walter despite his diagnosis and look past that in my judgement of him. As such this show was beneficial to me in other regards as well.

The show had many ups and downs, rarely did it bore me. There are multiple great character study sequences and thrilling plot points. Saul was just magical in this show. Jesse's character arc was one of the best I have seen. But Walter's character arc was the darkest and most depressing of the entire show. I was encouraged and pushed to watch this show and I have been putting it off, I am so glad I have finally got around to starting the first ep (after that I didn't need to put in as much effort).

The plot point of Jane and Jesse was quite intriguing because we all know they were better apart for each other's own good yet you also know they should not have had to separate the way they did. Jane did not deserve to die. And the devilish Walter just watching that and letting it happened made my blood boil. Not just this, multiple instances made me dislike the character of Walter, and this just made the ending more satisfying. I was definitely expecting the end to be with his death as that is the most logical and easy way out but still it was designed well. I think the last couple episodes lead up to his end though, it was not the simple way out by killing him. But over time he lost his cover, respect, family (FOS and physical), money, health, and finally his own life. Definitely a well written show.

The family dynamics with Flynn and Skyler were very well designed. I couldn't help but feel sorry for Flynn with how he was constantly cheated by his parents and lied to. What he had to go through was just unfathomable. Even Skyler had her head straight in the start but she became less logical and more motivated by needing to protect her family as the show progressed and gave us a dark version of her whom I was not expecting to see. I really am curious to see an epilogue to show how these surrounding characters turn out. I was honestly really enjoying Hank and Marie's characters as well, it broke me to see Hank die and that was one of the first major blows to Walter who truly cared about Hank. And Marie's entire character was quite well developed with her kleptomania and all, I couldn't help but feel bad for her as well.

I think this show is a great character study which tests our own moral compass at every point of the way by asking whether you can root for this character. And saying no, like myself, makes you enjoy it even more and take away more from the show.

Virupaksha (2023)

Well Written Supernatural Thriller
21 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Karthik Dandu's Virupaksha is one of the few movies in recent times which I regret not having been able to see on the big screen. I watched it immediately after it arrived on netflix, and man oh man was I impressed. One of the best supernatural thrillers I have seen in a long time, particularly in Telugu. This movie's plot should not even be summarized, it should just be experienced.

Considering the budget of the movie I was quite glad to see it had good VFX. There were multiple uses of visual effects, and they were done in a pretty high quality and impressive fashion that was convincing to the viewer. Some of those shots may have been more fear inducing to view in a theater honestly.

The writing of the film was impressive. The quality of writing in Telugu movies has not been the greatest, particularly in commercial cinema. We used to have well written and thought out commercial movies, but we definitely are lacking in these areas these days where we are making entertainers which are incorporating half-baked messages or just acting as crash grabs with doses of nostalgia. Movies like Pokiri, Manmadhudu, Athadu, etc. Where well written movies, and we are missing such films. Additionally we are missing out on genre films, particularly in horror and thrillers we are quite lacking. Virupaksha satisfied both aspects for me. It was a well written supernatural thriller. Karthik, who was hit by a train, was clearly going to die there, but the writing kicks in with the reveal of who he was and why he died in that scene, which was impressive. It had a nice investigative element and to be frank at it's core, it's a mystery film with supernatural, horror, and commercial elements perfectly incorporated. Glad to see them avoid tropes of horror.

I heard the climax was very strongly written. And it was quite impressively portrayed. SDT was fine, but Samyuktha Menon definitely out shined the others with her performance there. It's good to see more women characters getting good characterizations. And the fact that there is a negotiation with the culprits, is quite novel not just for horror movies, but Telugu commercial cinema in general. There is a good point of Nandhini and Bhairava not only negotiating but wanting to get revenge and show that they gave multiple chances for the mob to change and not act through herd mentality. She justifies the act through this discourse, which is an interesting point which isn't on the nose but subtly and well discussed about mob mentalities. I also liked the touch at the with the glow in his eyes, showing Nadhini is in Surya by the end of the film, potentially setting stage for a sequel.

While watching the movie I thought there were a few plot holes I noticed, like that of the first incident that caused children to die, causing the village to kill the family in the start of the movie along with why Nandhini committed suicide in that way. This seemed like lazy writing or a plot hole. But both were explained in a nuanced way, the first incident was due to cholera according to a newspaper clipping shown, which would have benefitted from being addressed in the movie but no big deal. And Nandhini's suicide occurred in a well timed way to make sure there were spectators, particularly ones bound to save her. I like that the film didn't take the audience for granted at all and shared the duties of putting pieces of the film together in such a way. Discussing it after viewing the film, a lot more things became apparent which I quite appreciated. They did incorporate the popularly bashed aspect of giving a backstory and reasoning for the murders, but it's well incorporated and completely justified and doesn't feel out of place, so it's not complained about. Half-baked backstories and those feeling out of place are the problematic backstories, here it worked.

In terms of acting, the movie could have benefited from a better protagonist. SDT was decent in the role, but coming from his accident it was evident that he was weaker. He didn't have the charm I remembered in earlier films, like Subramanyam for Sale. Some of his Chiru-like mannerisms worked in the earlier parts of the movie, but in the aspects where things got more tense and he needed to be stronger and emote more, he was above average at best. But truly glad to see him back and recovering from his accident. Samyuktha Menon stood out in her acting, I didn't take her for that good of an actor with the other movies' of hers I saw. But I was really impressed by her act in this film, she definitely increased the intensity of the film in the end of the film. Rajeev Kanakala was another actor I was glad to see with a strong, full-length role, without him dying. Sunil, Sai Chand, Ajay, Shyamala, and others get nice roles and characterizations you can identify them with.

The vibe of the movie, the music were all well done. Cinematography really set the tone of the film to feel the supernatural element. The music was good and definitely added to the impact of the horror elements included as well. I thought the 90s setting has been overused in recent movies as like some convenient feature to avoid acknowledgement of technology and communication, I don't know if this movie really needed the 90s setting, it would have been convincing with a present setting as well. But I still think there are certain aspects which could warrant it in a way.

Overall, one of the best movies of the year so far.

A Slice of Life Romance
12 May 2023
Srinivas Avasarala's Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi was a much awaited movie for me. Finally watched it as it didn't release in theaters close by to me. It's a relationship drama which embraces being imperfect with imperfect characters going through imperfect situations. The movie moves through various stages of two people's relationship. The vibe of the film, the character drama, and how a relationship evolves through highs and lows, through love and out of it were dealt with in an intriguing fashion.

This is definitely not the movie where novelty or uniqueness in story is the USP. The USP here is a pleasant, breezy film where the shots are just as pleasant. The music was a major asset, might be one of my top 3 albums this year (with Dasara and Balagam). Kalyani Malik hit it out of the park in that area. The locations and Europe backdrop worked well for the film.

It is quite a well made movie which kept me hooked throughout. I know a lot of people complained about it being slow, but I never found it to be boring or slow, I was able to empathize with the characters. The complaints also may be that they creatively decided not to show the more emotional, melodramatic moments in the film. Instead they just cut it and move onto the next part of life. The movie follows growth rather than moments, which is unique and appreciable, but may have caused some confusion. I personally liked the screenplay and the nonlinear fashion the movie was told in.

The screenplay really worked and enhanced the movie. It allowed the movie to remain a proper slice of life film rather than a more emotional drama. I think this was a purposeful choice by Avasarala Srinivas, who was not necessarily wanting to show those emotional beats and more of the character's growth. Now the characters feel less deep, but for being a pleasant slice of life drama it works, especially because the imperfections of the relationship are put at the forefront.

I personally enjoyed the comedy in the movie. I didn't find the kafifi and other bits cringe, I really enjoyed the humour and it felt really well blended in, rather than being forced in. Loved the Valentine Rao in the first half and Neelima Ratna Babu in the second half was another hilarious role. The uncle in the marriage of Anupama's sister was quite funny.

Coming to performances, this was a really good performance by Malvika Nair, who never created much of an impression on me. She performed well. Naga Shourya did a decent enough job, some of his limitations showed in this film. I honestly wish Avasarala Srinivas would move on from him and give others opportunities as well.

The characters were nice and I found it easy to empathize with them. Sanjay was a more sidelined guy in school and wasn't a big advocate for himself, which I really connected to. The way his relationship with Anupama grows is well done in my opinion. The way Sanjay internalizes the trauma from his mother passing is interesting as well. All these points are largely not discussed, it's more of like little pieces that the film moves through. Anupama is also a nice character and where she questions Sanjay's absence for the times she needs him is valid. I thought Giri was another intriguing character though not explored much, we just have to assume they broke up, we don't even see it.

That's the thing with the movie. It doesn't tell or even show many events. It just moves through with various snapshots in their life and we make sense of where the characters are in life as we get associated with that snapshot. That's why the best way to look at this film is a purposefully imperfect film with imperfect characters having an imperfect relationship.

Overall, a pleasant, slice of life movie with great music. Definitely give it a watch despite the mixed talk, you may like it.

Saving the Tigers (2023– )

A Good Start to A Relationship Comedy Series
1 May 2023
Mahi V Raghav and Pradeep Adhvaitham's Save The Tiger is a fun ride with well-written characters in my opinion. The show is on the lines of F2 and Kshemanga Velli Labhamga Randi, dealing with frustrated husbands but it's not cringy like F2 and it isn't demonizing women and trying to show multiple perspectives.

The show tells the story of three characters: Ghanta Ravi (Priyadarshi), Rahul (Abhinav Gomatham), and Vikram (Krishna Chaitanya). It revolves around how they are husbands who are inspired by events around them and displays the conflicts, insecurities, and lovable moments in their marriages.

The three are leading different lives. Ghanta Ravi is doing a buffalo milk business and he acts as such but his wife is worried how his language and actions will influence his kids, while his daughter is ashamed of her father. Rahul is on sabattical and just is at home, while his wife is a doctor, and he is suspecting her and a work friend. Vikram is a patient, shy guy working at an ad agency, married to a lawyer/activist and is dealing with the inequality in their marriage.

The relationships are all interesting. I liked Ghanta Ravi's story and relationship, with his daughter feeling insecure due to her father and telling friends her father is a worker at their business. The arc is ended nicely by the end of the first season. His relationship with his wife is very nicely portrayed as well. Vikram had a very interesting relationship, which worked for me, but i don't know how everyone will appreciate this. I personally found his wife annoying which was what the show was going for as well in a way, but at the same time it tries to show her side but we can tell that she is a woke activist who is neglecting her family and making a big deal. But I liked how they showed her side without demonizing her like many movies do. Rahul has a different thing where they both love each other, but misunderstandings and disputes form due to small things and him suspecting his wife. But it's a more cute and light story among the three, and I really liked how well they balanced the two. And if we had to pick, Rahul is the one shown as the guy who messed up in this story.

There is no outright one person is wrong in these marriages is what the movie conveys to a degree. I say to a degree because in Vikram's relationship it does seem that he is in the right and his wife is in the wrong by not spending time or being as invested, but at the same time the makers do point out the mistakes he makes in making her feel lonely in their marriage. So there is give and take and both sides are shown in all relationships which is a very nice touch.

The acting was good, Priyadarshi kills it as he usually does. Abhinav and his wife are really good. Krishna Chaitanya and wife do a fine act, I found the housekeeper in Abhinav's home quite funny as well. Harshavardhan as usual was a delight but I wish he got more screen time, i hope he does in future seasons. There weren't any weak moments in acting except here and there.

The comedy in the series worked well for me. It looks like it could be a fun entertaining series with some heartwarming elements. It will be a good relationship comedy, and it has good writing like some popular sit coms. I found the characters quite easy to connect with, I was hooked by mid-way through ep 2.

The production values are good and the editing is good. I watched one telugu web series before, Aha Naa Pellanta, and that series felt like a movie cut into a series due to length. But this felt like a natural series and it was entertaining with cliff hangers and all keeping you hooked. The music and all were good.

I definitely found the cliffhanger really interesting and there is a lot to look forward to in regard to not just how their relationships progress and are healed. But also how the events in the cliff hanger will affect proceedings in coming seasons. This is definitely a series which I will be on the look out for and am excited for the next season. I started this like just time pass while working but ended up being hooked and finished it in a couple of hours and was sad there was no more.

Overall, I recommend this show to any comedy series lovers. You are in for a decent laugh at the least. With more seasons I hope it gets better.

Decent Doppelganger Film That Could Have Been Better
15 April 2023
This is by no means a different or unique film, it is a proper commercial, masala flick. We have seen these kinds of doppelganger stories all the way from NTR's Ramudu Bheemudu, but with better screenplay and execution it could have been a better film. The movie ends up decent with current execution, and even at that it takes time to get into the story.

The first half is fine and passable, nothing too special, some jokes actually land. Lot of the scenes feel predictable at the start and then as they progress you get more immersed. The comedy was pretty decent as I said. The movie doesn't get into the main story until the pre-interval and the interval bang is from where the ball starts rolling with some thrilling twists, nothing too out of the world or unexpected. Post the interval bang, you will be able to put most other twists together on your own a little before they are revealed. But this isn't a major harm for the film as it entertains quite well. The last 20 minutes is when the entertainment quotient and reveals begin to make the film more thrilling and fun. A good second half, mediocre first half, overall decent film.

Vishwak Sen is the highlight of the film, especially as Das. He continues to imitate Jr NTR, but I really like the blend he brings to it and has potential for sure. In the character of Sanjay he can improve in my opinion and I hope he does for the hinted upon sequel. Nivetha Pethuraj gets a pretty decent character and is charming in it, but I miss her prior settled performances. Rao Ramesh does well with what he has and really shines in a couple of scenes. Aadi and Mahesh work in generating some laughs.

The movie could have been better if the execution and screenplay was improved. It seemed that they wanted to make a breezy first half with all needed commercial elements, and kept their story jampacked into the second half along with the twists. While the twists and racy second half worked, it would have been better if it was integrated into the film better and made the first half more intriguing. No need for the lengthy set up and they could did not have to save it all for the second half and sequel in my opinion. The direction from Vishwak could be better as well, the scenes start blend and immerse you eventually but feel somewhat artificial in making.

In regard to music, it wasn't anything too impressive. Mawa Bro is a decent hummable song which has become guilty pleasure, Almost Padipoyindhe Pilla and the others are mediocre or forgettable.

Overall, a decent masala flick that gets better as it progresses and can be given a watch. Generated enough interest that I would be intrigued to see how the sequel goes.

Gripping Drama About Obsession
13 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It is hard to describe the feeling I had while watching this movie, but one thing I can say without a doubt was I was sucked in and absorbed by the movie the whole time. My heart was racing throughout the film and after it. I regret putting off watching it because it was a drama about music, this movie is much more than that and it's one of the best and most gripping films I have seen on the topic of obsession.

The movie's premise is basically about a passionate drummer, Andrew, who like many students at Shaffar wants to be in the class of the great Fletcher. Fletcher is a toxic man who believes teaching and creating prodigies requires pushing them beyond their limitations and chooses the most toxic methods possible. What happens to Andrew and his obsession and desire for Fletcher's approval makes the rest of the movie.

Honestly this movie was recommended to me as a motivational movie. I am concerned for those who recommended it to me as such as the movie is clearly not about motivating but rather showing how one's passion became their obsession. The movie sucks you into this drummer's life and shows how he is neglecting pain, love, and all other aspects of his life just for the approval of Fletcher. It shows that passion and dreams should have their limits, we should be pushed but even that has a limit. By the end of the movie we can see that Andrew is just obsessed and he is willing to do anything to make Fletcher proud.

I was shocked when the movie ended, it felt abrupt. But you can tell that the movie ends on a note where there is no positive ending for Andrew. As suggested by his father, Charlie Parker may be a great musician but he was dealing with mental health issues and committed suicide at a young age. The concept of greatness and the toxicity of pushing someone to such lengths in such a brutal fashion, comes with the price of their mental health. Andrew has definitely become a great musician who will be known widely, that is hinted by the ending. But we also know that he will spiral and be depressed due to his obsession with music. He commits to crossing the line of passion into obsession.

The final shot of his father said it all. Despite everything Fletcher did to Andrew, he still wanted to prove himself as a great musician and wanted his approval. He succeeded in doing so. The father clearly showed he finally saw his son's becoming a great musician, but quickly followed it with the knowledge of him not being his son anymore, him being lost and spiraling into this toxic realm.

Connections could be made to today's society where such level of pushing may be praised by certain people, but I am glad we are mostly past it. Yet there are many who go through such spirals and are pushed so hard or even push themselves and go past the point of passion to obsession. I hope this movie rings a bell for those and people who may have seen it as motivation can re-watch it upon learning the director's intentions.

The cinematography of this movie was brilliant, I think the gritty texture of the movie truly helped it. It really added to and enhanced some amazing performances by JK Simmons, as Fletcher, and Miles Teller, as Andrew.

I was quite surprised to be sucked into a movie about jazz to this degree and the movie keeps you at the edge of your seat and causes some form of anxiety at the end. Especially those final 10 minutes, I totally could feel my heart racing and thought I was going through some sort of anxiety.

Overall, this is one of the greatest movies I have seen and I urge every person to watch this movie as it will absorb you within seconds and give you one of the greatest cinematic experiences.

A Comedy With Leads Who Will Disgust You
9 April 2023
I honestly back to back watched Scorsese movies today. And I am so glad that I watched The Wolf of Wall Street almost immediately after The Departed. After The Departed I wanted something lighthearted yet intense still and this movie totally fit the bill.

I laughed and was entertained by the movie for sure but not as much as others stated. A bigger feeling that I had during this movie was the disgust by the characters. Yeah they showed a beautiful life, but I did not find the characters redeemable for the most part, particularly Jordan Belfort. And I was okay with that because I knew what Scorsese was trying to convey and I was okay with feeling this disgust and seeing this reality through this biopic.

The film may have been about the scam by Jordan Belfort, but it was more of a biopic and focused on Belfort only. We never saw the way his actions affected the victims, but we saw him and how the extremities of him and Wall Street culture is horrific and enabled. I think it would have been valuable to see some victims, but still it worked and got the point across without being on the nose. Although it might be a reason why some misinterpret the film. It showcases wall street culture quite well and shows how toxic it is. Loved the film for how much it showed, and glad to learn it was an accurate portrayal from others.

Leonardo DiCaprio lived it as Jordan Belfort. Apart from the final shot, I don't know how Belfort is in reality, but DiCaprio succeeded in making me hate the character and loved his performance. He was hilarious and made the audience hate him simultaneously. Margot Robbie was amazing in this movie, putting her beauty aside, she really added to how we hated Belfort with her performance and the scenes she had with him. Jonah Hill was another character who was initially hilarious and just as hated as others as time went on. Loved the performances in the movie.

Some scenes were just fantastic. I loved the ending and the messaging that Scorsese attempted was quite commendable, but I think a scene or two of victims could have made it register for some of the audience. The final scene could be broken down and dissected for ages to show the reality of how gullible we as humans are and how despite us not liking how it ended for the character, this is reality.

Overall, a great financial scam where the makers want you to disliked the characters and learn about the toxicity of wall street.

Fun Hanks-Ryan Rom-Com
9 April 2023
A fun rom com which might become a comfort watch for me. Lot of similarities in the vibe it gives with You've Got Mail, which has the same leads. I like that they did a gender flip on the pursuer for this movie, not that it's still okay but it was fun. I didn't delve into the stalking or anything, I didn't find it too problematic, it was all done in a light way without making it too creepy. Meg Ryan was fun to watch as well and I liked her and Hanks' movies. I love Tom Hanks and just love watching him in such movies, hope he makes another comedy or something lighthearted again, it's been a while.

Bathuke Oka Jaganatakam
9 April 2023
Krishna Vamsi is back with an emotional drama that shows the sorrow and plight of a retired stage actor. The plot line is not the most unique, the movie is a remake of a Marathi film called Natsamrat (which I haven't seen), as it is telling a story of an older couple whose children are mistreating them. We have seen stories like this but the movie still has the emotions on point and elicits strong drama.

The first 15 or so minutes I felt like I was watching a 2000 or 90s flick, but I'm a sucker for that generation of films so slowly warmed up to it. Some of the actors like Anasuya really got on my nerves and I guess for the characterization it worked out that way. The editing of the trailer was choppy which made me lose hope on the movie, but that wasn't a big issue in the movie especially once you get invested in the drama.

The performances are the main highlight of the film. Prakash Raj lived in the role as Rangamarthanda Raghava Rao, it was not a new character for Prakash Raj but he makes you cry like a baby with ease. Bramhanandam is the man who you look at and immediately laugh, but in this movie man did he make us cry. That hospital scene and monologue was some of the best acting I have seen in a long time. I am glad Krishna Vamsi brought this angle out of him, and hope more directors use this side. Ramya Krishna is another actor who did just fabulously, she was so relatable as a soft mother and just lived in that role. Sivathmika Rajasekhar is a good actor and glad she did well in this film as well, though she needs to improve in emotional scenes. Good to see native Telugu actors acting in Telugu films.

The moral of the film is not on the nose and is just left for interpretation though it is guided by the narrative. We are shown to not mistreat elders and parents especially, and to show gratitude towards them. And from the side of Prakash Raj and Ramya Krishna's side it is shown to not fully trust anyone, it is shown that money can make anyone evil. And above all it is to learn from Prakash Raj to not lose yourself and realize that life is the biggest and grandest play of all. Some of the scenes in the films convey these beautifully without being on the nose or preachy like many films these days.

Krishna Vamsy is back after a long time and you can tell it's a Krishna Vamsi mark film and I am glad he has made a comeback after a string of hard to watch movies with extremely over the top acting.

Overall a good watch if you are interested in emotional dramas and want to see some present stalwart acting performances.

The Prestige (2006)
9/10
One of the best Character Rivalries
7 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Christopher Nolan's The Prestige is a fantastic film which sees two great magicians trying to one up one another. Starting off as apprentice's at the same magician, Angier and Borden quickly enter a competitive stage where the conflict between them surges beyond a professional rivalry and becomes personal to the level of their downfall.

Christopher Nolan is most famously known for films like Interstellar and Inception, but this movie does not come up in discussions as much. I am so glad to have caught this movie and seen the beautiful drama between the two characters which Nolan portrayed so beautifully. The highs this movie gave me could not have even been provided by a popcorn action flick.

Borden is an expert observer who can understand any trick, while Angier is fantastic in execution and showmanship. If Borden did not have the greed for the fame and stood behind Angier, the sky would have been the limit and this is the feeling I was left with as the movie progressed I got into their conflict.

The most beautiful part is the movie shows human nature's dark side. Two people's rivalry gets personal and out of hand, and eventually leads to their downfall.

In fact, the final reveal of Borden being two twins the whole time feels like an unnecessary reveal, but when going back and looking at it that way it becomes more clear that it deletes some potential toxicity to the character's relationships.

I am looking forward to rewatching this soon after I forget a couple things about the film.

Overall, this is a must watch and master piece movie by Nolan, and has one of the rawest character standoffs.

Dasara (2023)
5/10
3/4 Baked Rustic Village Drama Which Fumbles in Second Half
1 April 2023
Srikanth Odela's Dasara is basically dealing with two major plot threads. One is of the village of Veerlapalli and the political conflict there and how Silk Bar is important to that political conflict. And the other one is a romance thread which is what the director ends up focusing on and forgets the other plot thread in second half.

First half was quite good. The interval was quite well designed in a rustic fashion. You can tell what will happen, though it's executed novelly, but you hope it doesn't occur. But second half was dragged on unnecessarily and the plot threads so nicely set up in the first half are not properly conlcuded. Action set pieces were good and technicalities were quite good, kudos to director for designing such beautiful action scenes.

I was so engaged with first half and the characterizations. It was impressive to see all those characters and the village itself became a character in the film. I was sucked into the world and forgot about the snacks I brought. Second half overall did not meet my expectation. Post certain reveals in the second half you know where it's going and your wondering why the movie isn't ending because the setup is done for the climax but it just drags on unnecessarily. Even more of an issue as there are a few major plot points and only one of them is focused on in second half, the rest are forgotten and a rushed scene occurs in the neck end to shoehorn in a short conclusion which doesn't work or give impact.

But Nani acting was wonderful and a major asset to the film, can be considered as one of this best performances. He lived as Dharani! Deekshith was really good and you will love his friendship with Nani. Shine Tom Chacko has a meaty role and he is good in it, not award worthy but good. Samuthikarini and Sai Kumar had pretty good characters but their lack of screen time and threads were inconclusive which lacked impact. Poorna appears as Chacko's wife and she is set up in a good role but she also doesn't get enough screen time or writing for us to fully understand her, although her character seemed to have potential much like Sai Kumar's.

The screenplay is quite good in the first half. The director sets up all the different issues and plot points really well. However, he focuses only on one of those in the second half which causes the main issue and its dragged out as there isn't enough meat to last til climax for that thread. So screenplay can be said to have faltered in second half.

The director attempts to create some high moments which is noticeable but he fails in delivering those highs. There are multiple scenes and important changes that certain characters make and they lack in impact because the director doesn't emphasize them enough in my opinion. Same with the final scene at Silk Bar, which whole thread was what I was most invested in but got lost.

Srikanth Odela does quite well for being a debutant. Very impressive talent, especially in the action scenes and his vision for creating this connect with the village. He makes the village a character which is his major success. He lost my interest as second half progressed as despite the climax being setup he drags the movie for extra 20 min and forgets about the other plot lines which I personally was more invested in during the first half. Apart from that he did good, if he learns from these mistakes he can deliver greater films in my opinion.

Cinematography is bang awesome. Some scenes had issues with green screen. But the cinematography and sets were a major plus point and was the saving grace for me in all those boring scenes in second half. They truly sucked me into the world of Veerlapalli. The music by SaNa was also awesome. Chartbuster music before itself and it took the movie to next level in some scenes. Except for one rap music scene, it was quite authentic. And the Telangana dialect and dialogues were all so intriguing. I don't know much about culture their so I felt like I learned a lot.

Overall it's a mixed bag which has potential but the director fumbled in the second half causing it to be left as a mediocre attempt. Some of the scenes which were dragged could have been chopped to add more to the story and tie off certain plot threads.

Heart Touching & Memorable Family Drama
28 March 2023
A beautiful film that is one of the best family dramas that has come out in Telugu after a long time. We have been overburdened with big scale masala flicks, which have their position, but we have been missing out on feel good and emotional movies. Balagam is a beautiful family drama which is emotional and gut wrenching.

The movie is about the death of Komurayya and how the eleven day rituals post his death occur. The various characters, their egos, clashes, and their flaws are eventually fused into unity and cleansed as they participate in the rituals and return peace to Komurayya's soul.

The writing of the film is amazing, we have seen multiple movies about children who are clashing and have to unite. Most family dramas come down to this. But Venu took a very different route and gave us a gut wrenching story which will remain a classic. It shows how family members should put aside egos and disputes to be in unison in an emotional way through the funeral rites of their father Komurayya.

Whether it's Priyadarshi and his focus on clearing debts, Narayana who is unable to forget the disrespect from his brother in laws, Ailayya unable to put aside his egos, all are flaws and disputes which Venu deals with convincingly and delivers an emotional climax to showcase a convincing change of heart.

The climax is quite emotional. As someone who lost their own grandfather a few years ago, I broke down myself when Priyadarshi had broken down at the end. Priyadarshi and the rest of the cast gave memorable performances.

Venu rooted the story in a Telangana village. I have never seen Telangana apart from bits of Hyderabad, and found the setting to have been showcased in a manner which taught me quite a bit about Telangana culture and villages. A good village drama makes the village itself a character and Venu succeeded in doing this. I am surprised that he is a first time director.

Overall, this is an emotional family drama which should not be missed. This film will be one of the most memorable films for this decade and is worthy of some mighty awards.

Could Have Been Better, But Overall Average Flick
23 March 2023
Due to some friends recommending I watched this movie and it happened to be my first Kiran Abbavaram movie, who is often trolled. Murali Sharma was really good and acting wise the saving grace of the movie. The plot could have been executed in a better way with more engaging aspects and not overcomplicating things. Until last 40 minutes the movie kind of feels all over the place, but it comes together towards the end. I was disappointed with the setting, the Tirupathi backdrop was so artificial and was not showcased well. They tried to make the setting significant but failed and chose stereotypical Tirupati locations and actions. The whole helping people thing was dealt with in a cringe fashion and was cringey most times it appeared but I liked that they used it as a plot point. Some minor holes and execution issues that made the movie bland along with cringe dialogue.

The whole neighbor setup was cringely delivered in dialogue but towards the end it made me feel amused. Honestly the dialogues are a big weakness in multiple scenes, they keep writing Abbavaram overly preachy and cringey dialogues for even other characters that took me out of the film at multiple points.

Kiran Abbavaram's acting was quite bad and hard to watch. The movie could have been better by replacing him and just opting for someone who wasn't so stiff and bland. I am happy for him a Chittoor guy making it big without any background, but he needs to improve his acting. I can't watch his movies because of regional bias or something, he needs to be watchable as well. Hope he improves his acting skill and proves himself.

Vaathi (2023)

Cliched Village Drama Reinforcing The Value of Education
19 March 2023
Venky Atluri's Vaathi is about Bala, an assistant third grade teacher at a private school, who is redirected to a village government school on a program established by a private education corporation. Seeing the lack of interest the parents and children there have in education due to labor and vices, Bala changes their mind and brings them into school. But shortly after he learns Thirupathi has no interest in their well being and wants them to fail. So the movie becomes about how he overcomes the obstacles and helps the kids in the village get a state rank and make their dreams come true.

The movie's premise is by no means very fresh, it is a premise we have seen multiple times in movies like Super 30. But that's is no big deal as it's a relevant issue and with good taking it can be an interesting watch. It ends up doing a decent job but multiple cliches are present. The acting is what really saves it especially with the emotional scenes, and the emotional scenes are actually well written too. The movie could have been a good one with fresh execution.

After watching so much commercial cinema from India, I'm confused why we always make the antagonist entirely evil. I get the idea of fighting a corporate, done right it is exciting every time. But that's not the case here, Samuthikarani plays Thirupthi an evil to the core corporate with zero redeeming factors. I don't get why he needs to be so evil to the core, why can't he have some relatable shades to him and make him a grounded character. Even Samuthikarini has been typecasted into these kinds of crappy villain roles these days which is unfortunate.

The best part of the film is Dhanush as Bala sir and the students. Each of the child actors have done a fantastic job, especially the one playing Muthu. I really connected with the character despite catching on soon this will the AM Kumar played by Sumanth. Sumanth has a nice cameo. Sai Kumar had a nice role which he definitely played well as usual. Dhanush as Bala sir was too good, he elevated this movie which was good in parts and brought that feel good aspect with his acting and the child actors'.

Another issue with the film was the conclusion. The children came to learn about Bala sir and then we learn he is in Ooty. But it did not make sense that the children who came to learn about him did not learn anything further about him nor even concluded that plot thread. I felt a better conclusion could have been given the present storyline.

GV Prakash gives a good background score and another fantastic aspect of the movie is the cinematography. The village is so authentic and the 90s are portrayed so well. Some hairstyles looked more modern, but apart from that good.

I liked some scenes like the one which teaches the students equality and avoiding caste discrimination. It was a well done scene. I liked how he taught them different subjects and tested them on both. The monologues and how easily the people got convinced or clapped was a little annoying at times, making it feel preachy, but Dhanush makes it watchable. Some emotional scenes were good, but mainly due to acting than overall writing.

Overall, this is a village drama which reinforces the value of education. It works in parts. If you haven't seen movies like Super 30, following similar line, you will enjoy it more.

A Thriller Showing the Angst of a Common Man
18 March 2023
Chakri Toleti's Eenadu is about a common man who calls the commissioner saying he planted bombs across Hyderabad and will explode them if the police don't accept his demands. His demands are to release four terrorists. Who is this man? Why does he want these terrorists released? How does he benefit?

The movie is fast paced, with a 100 minute run time it has to be to the point. The screenplay is quite good as it keeps the viewer engaged and it stays on point without deviating. A few quips here and there and quickly narrated flashback help with this. The film is a remake of Naseerudin Shah's A Wednesday, which I have not watched.

The movies thrills and suspenses land for me as I have not seen the original. The social commentary is not so in your face and is presented well. It explores extreme terrorism and questions why we hold onto these terrorists until someone demands their release, rather than executing them. It also questions the corruption involved in the process. Putting aside my personal opinions and disagreements with execution without trial and the death penalty in general, the movie succeeds in getting its point across in a simple yet effective manner.

Kamal Hassan plays the role of a common man, whose name is never revealed, while Venkatesh plays the role of DGP Eeswar Prasad. The two have palpable chemistry and it's a joy to see some of my favorite actors just killing it on screen. Kamal plays the common man's role quite well and succeeds in getting the angst he faces across well. Venkatesh pulls off the strict cop role quite well and his interactions with the Chief of Secretary, played by Lakshmi, lead to some laughs.

Overall, a solid thriller which shows the angst of the common man as terrorists keep the world in fear.

A Quirky Take on Spider-Man
18 March 2023
Into the Spider-verse is about Miles Morales and how he is dealing with being pushed by his parents. In the process, he is bitten by a radioactive spider and becomes another Spider-Man shortly after which Peter Parker dies. But before that a multidimensional portal is activated causing Spider-Men for various dimensions to come into the universe. It's up to Miles to not only understand his new body and powers, but also help the Spider-Men return to their own universes.

The biggest thing about this movie is the visuals. The art style is so appealing and has this feeling as if a comic is being viewed in a 3d model. I hope more movies come out with this animation style. I have been using these wallpapers for a while and despite being a Spider-Man fan, have slept on this movie for too long.

Watching it in 2023, it reminded me quite a bit of Spider-Man No Way Home. Both do get inspired from the same comic sequence. Although it really works for Into the Spiderverse past the nostalgia factor due to the visuals and the introduction of Miles Morales finally. Miles' on screen debut is a smashing hit and has us all waiting for the soon to come sequel.

The music and soundtrack is just as quirky and appealing as the visuals. The characters included, whether Spider Man Noir, Spider Gwen, or Spider Ham, were all adding to the quirkiness of the movie. I am a sucker for movies which are quirky and out of the box, and I loved this quirky take, particularly with the visuals, on Spider-Man.

Overall, a must watch for Spider Man fans and those of animated films.

Thegidi (2014)

A Well Made, Fast Paced Thriller
18 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
P. Ramesh's Thegidi is about a detective, Vetri, that joins a new agency after graduating from criminology school under the guidance of his lecturer, Govardhan. His first case on the job is to stealthily follow and collect data on a group of people. In the process he falls in love with Madhu, and eventually is tasked with collecting data on her. As the movie proceeds, each of the members he collects data on ends up dead. How is this possible? Who is behind this? These are the questions that make up the rest of the film.

The movie continues in a suspenseful pace as it keeps as quite invested and engaged in the story. Though we find out this is the doing of his boss only, we continue to suspect why and what the purpose could be. Inspector Raghuram (Jayaprakash) ends up mentoring and working with Vetri on the case, and the two become a wonderful duo which is intriguing to watch. It comes as a surprise to know this is all done for the sake of the client's insurance policies. And the final twist of his lecturer whom he looked up to being connected seemed like an unnecessary twist overall, but it was shocking and how it breaks Vetri was well portrayed.

Ashok Selvan does a fine job as Vetri. He definitely improved as an actor from those days. But the character could have been better written, just because he is inexperienced he doesn't need to rely on some others to do the simplest of investigating. After all he's a criminology graduate, he doesn't showcase basic skills. Jayaprakash was fun to watch, and his duo with Vetri was nice. Kaali Venkat as Nambi provides great comic relief.

Overall, a well made thriller which keeps you engaged and shows an interesting mystery. Hope it gets a sequel at some point as shown in the film.

Kshanam (2016)

Suspenseful Thriller Which Keeps You Guessing
17 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ravikanth Perepu's Kshanam starts with Swetha (Adah Sharma) getting attacked in her car. Then comes in Rishi (Adivi Sesh) who is Swetha's ex, he is called by her to help find her daughter. Soon after beginning his search he learns from Swetha's husband and other sources that the kid doesn't exist. However, Swetha is unable to take that Rishi doesn't believe her either and commits suicide. Rest of the movie is about whether they had a daughter and if so where she is.

The movie is quite thrilling and it keeps you guessing about whether the daughter exists or not. At one point I was convinced this was some sort of psychological thriller or even horror film. However the movie remains a suspenseful thriller that involves a variety of themes. It finally comes down to Swetha's husband learning the child was not his and wanting to rid of her when the ACP, who has no children, saves her and keeps her as her own child.

At the beginning I laughed at the fact that Swetha calls on her ex to help find her child, it was quite a weird way to go about things. But then when it's revealed this was done because it was Rishi's child answered that question.

Babu Khan (Vennela Kishore) had a nice arc which is not uncommon in thrillers. He plays the guy who does anything for money but after seeing this cause a death he aids the main character which ends in his death. Yet Vennela Kishore's acting convinces and brings about strong sympathy. A similar underrated acting gem is Satyam Rajesh, he kills it as Ravi Chowdary. Adivi Sesh was also quite good and Adah Sharma did good as well. Anasuya was decent as the ACP, she gets the point across but her acting felt over the top.

Overall, a truly suspenseful thriller which should not be missed if you enjoy Adivi Sesh's writing.

Pizza (II) (2012)

A Horror Film Which Is Actually A Thriller
16 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Karthik Subbaraj's Pizza is about Michael who is a pizza delivery boy and recently married Anu. He is sent on a pizza delivery where he gets stuck in a home which seems to be haunted and the household members are killed off one by one. Michael is almost killed as well but some police come in from whom he learns the household members actually died a week prior with a stranger who is identified as his wife Anu. Michael escapes and tries to find Anu which makes the rest of the film.

The brilliance of the movie is the ending. The movie is posing as a horror movie but the deception comes in the form that the whole story was a con and a lie that Michael tells his boss from whom he is trying to steal the diamonds which the boss hid in his delivery. To steal it without raising any questions, Michael makes this horror story up and even makes the owner believe Anu isn't even a real person.

Karthik Subbaraj clearly hit it out of the park in his first directorial itself and I'm so mad at myself for not watching this movie earlier. It is reared highly by many and deserves to be. I love myself a good film which cons the audience, it always serves as a great sense of excitement for me in the handful of movies I have seen including Karthik Subbaraj. But it also needs careful writing to make it convincing, especially in a thriller. And Karthik Subbaraj achieved such good writing. Despite some of the horror scenes not being too horrifying, which I did appreciate, and also few scenes in that sequence getting a little dull.

Then comes the acting. I decided to watch this movie now, despite not being a big fan of horror movies, now because of VJS more than KS. And VJS was fantastic as Michael. He portrayed the fear, cunning nature, and the subtle comical tone the character had so well. Naren as usual is fantastic as the pizza owner and the sympathy he shows towards VJS makes me feel a lot of sympathy for him as Michael cons him. Bobby Simha and Pooja are great as the ghosts in the film.

Overall, this is a must watch thriller with great horror elements and a deceiving story which itself is a big thrilling feature.

The Lunchbox (2013)
9/10
A Film Which Feels Like a Delicious Cup of Chai
15 March 2023
Ritesh Batra's The Lunchbox is about a soon to be retired government employee, Saajan (Irrfan Khan), and the love that blossoms between him and Ila (Nimrat Kaur) through a small, unlikely error in a carrier system common in Mumbai, India. The movie explores how a lunchbox can lead to the sprouting of love between entirely different people.

The beauty of the film is that these characters, Saajan and Ila are so different. One is at retirement age and getting over the death of his wife at age 50. The other is a housewife that is fed up with the poor treatment she receives from her husband, who commits infidelity. They both are in search of empathy and they find that in one another in the most unexpected way possible. Through a lunchbox which is accidentally delivered to Saajan instead of Ila's husband by the local carrier deliverers.

The writing is just so delightful. The allegory with the food and how it meets the romance. In fact the food stands in for relationships, it is a sign when they are sharing food that the character's bonded. This is particularly noticeable with Shaikh (Nawaziddin Siddique) and Saajan. Initially Saajan avoids and is annoyed by Shaikh but he slowly warms up to him and this is indicated by the two sharing food in the canteen. The two becoming even closer occurs when Saajan eats in Shaikh's home.

The acting was just beautiful. Irrfan Khan lives and rejoices in the roles he plays, and he is no different in the role of Saajan. Nimrat Kaur stands out as Ila, she plays the angst of the characters quite well. There is a lot of confusion she has to be in and many choices she weighs when leaving and thinking about leaving her husband at multiple points in the film, and she portrays that so well and subtly. Then comes Nawazuddin Siddique's Shaikh, for me he was the most relatable character. There was a strong emotional connect with the character that is largely caused by his acting prowess.

To sum it up this is not just a movie to pair with a nice cup of chai, but it is a nice cup of chai itself.

Cult Classic Hindi Comedy
14 March 2023
Rajkumar Santoshi's Andaz Apna Apna is about Amar and Prem who are trying to marry a rich man's daughter, Karishma. How they convince Karishma to fall in love with one of them and how they compete with one another makes the movie, while Karishma is facing threats from a doppelganger of her own father, makes up the movie.

One of the most favorite aspects of this movie for me was the music. Each song was a gem, and since I watched it yesterday I have been listening to all the songs on loop. The music was a great call back to the classic songs of the late 70s and early 80s. Wonderful music and I loved the references within the songs to different actors and iconic songs.

The comedy of the movie was really good, it was the right amount of fun. I usually find myself bored in a lot of recent Hindi comedies, especially the Akshay Kumar ones like Good Newz and even Welcome. I just find them boring and cringey and too over the top for my taste. But Andaz Apna Apna was the perfect comedy and will from now on be my go to comedy in Hindi cinema. So glad I finally got myself to watch them.

The acting in the movie was really good and it was filled with a great star cast. I put it aside a little as I'm not a fan of Aamir Khan, although I mostly watched his post Dhoom 3 movies which had some good movies but bad acting for most part imo. But he was amazing in Andaz Apna Apna, and I definitely want to explore his 90s movies and classics more now. I love SRK because I did this kind of exploration of how he grew through 90s and 2000s, want to do it with Aamir now too. Salman was fine, he was fun to watch with his mannerisms. Paresh Rawal was a laugh riot, love the man in anything I watch, and he did not disappoint a single bit in this film. I was not very familiar with Shakthi Kapoor prior to watching AAA, but now I will remember him forever as Captain GoGo that is the most iconic comedic villain in Hindi cinema for me. I would not at all have minded a spin off after this for Captain Gogo. Raveena Tandon and Karishma Kapoor did well in their roles, I liked the twists and turns and the meta humor with their names.

Honestly, after watching the film, I was surprised to learn it flopped. But I am glad it reached cult classic status and it will be one of the classic. Overall, a great comedy which everyone should try. Also please enjoy the album, it's such a banger.

A Heartbreaking Rags to Riches Story
10 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Gabriele Muccino's The Pursuit of Happyness is about Will Smith's Christopher Gardner and how he rises out of a terrible financial situation and deals with separation from his wife and having to take care of his son whom he loves so dearly. While attempting to get a job as a stockbroker for which he needs to go through an unpaid internship which doesn't even guarantee him the job.

Watching this movie is very hard for those who have been in a financially dire situation. As someone who experienced a degree of financial struggles which created uncertainty of what and how to eat for the next month, and used support of family and friends to move forward, this movie brought back an unexplainable amount of emotions and made it hard to watch. It did not help that the movie was set in Oakland which is close to where I grew up. But I watched to see the ending which I knew had to be uplifting.

The ending was beautiful. Not because it comes out of no where. In fact, you know the ending would be uplifting and estimate how it would be within the first 30-40 minutes of the movie beginning. The beauty of the movie is embracing the anticipation and delivering some of the most poignant and poetic lines with a strong emotional connect to deliver the ending.

The best part of the movie, apart from the brilliant writing and showcasing of Christopher Gardner's life on the big screen, is the acting. Will Smith gets into the role of Christopher Gardner and owns it. He delivers what I consider to be one of his best performances ever, especially when he finally gets the job at the end. Jaden Smith as Chris Gardner is just as good and his performance as the innocent child who not just his father but the audience want protected is so touching.

One of my favorite scenes in the film apart from the ending scene where he gets the job, is when Christopher Gardner attends his interview and the circumstances he has to go to them under. It tells a lot about how we judge people and how we probably should not. The story of a poor sales man, high school dropout, and veteran overcoming the financial obstacles in his life is portrayed well in this scene.

Overall this is one of the best emotional character journeys I have seen, and a fantastically made biopic. It is a must watch for all in my opinion because of the relativity for those who struggled financially and the humbling perspective for the rest.

Fun, Quirky, & Action Packed
4 March 2023
Edgar Wright has recently become one of my favorite directors after seeing his Cornetto Trilogy. It only seemed right to explore the rest of his filmography, and I was recommended Scott Pilgrim vs. The World which was once again just the right amount of quirky.

Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs the World is about Scott Pilgrim who falls in love with Ramona and to be able to continue dating her he needs to defeat her seven evil exes.

The plotline is simple yet the movie is bombastic and the action is quite in your face and jarring. Yet this is not a bad thing. The movie embraces it's quirky nature and it tells. The comic book strip like wording of Pow when landing punches just worked wonders. The action was mind blowing. The film was an hour and 50 minutes of quirkiness and fun. I can never pass on a quirky film.

I quite enjoyed the self awareness of the film as well. It isn't easy to do it convincingly, but Edgar Wright is able to do it time and time again. The triangle which he establishes with Scott, Ramona, and Jules is hilarious and their chemistry and the choreography is quite surprisingly absurd yet pops. The movie as a whole pops.

The performances are quite good as the characters come across as innocent and the star cameos were a pleasant surprise. Especially liked seeing Chris Evans as one of the exes. I don't think Scott's roommate's gay jokes aged the best though they aren't problematic by any means.

Toronto is shown beautifully. And I think it was satirical that Ramona shifted from NY to Toronto considering many films shoot in Toronto and portray it as NYC.

Overall, a must watch for quirky action lovers that are wanting to watch a comic book play out on screen.

About Time (I) (2013)

A Beautiful Romance Which Reminds The Significance of Living
27 February 2023
Richard Curtis' About Time is about Tim who learns from his father that they can travel back in time and relive certain events differently. Thinking how to use this power, he decides to use it to improve his love life. From there it showcases him proposing to his first love, Charlotte. And finally meeting the love of his life, Mary, and making the stars align such that they end up together. As the story moves on he begins to understand that time travel has it's consequences. And the movie ends on the beautiful note of learning to live life and not regret or change the past.

The movie has a beautiful, feel good story. It is written to be a wholesome drama, and does that. The writing is quite good in the film. Whether it's the scenes for how he tries to get with Charlotte or how he changes the past to end up with Mary, good writing is what is making this movie feel like a wholesome masterpiece. It's in the writing.

The movie has good music and cinematography. The visuals and settings shown create a pleasant vibe which blends well into the film and works for its themes. The dialogue is so pleasant and adds to the beauty of the movie. The movie uses these elements along with the writing to extend the film from a traditional rom com to being a drama that shows one how to live and reinforces living in the moment.

The movie treats the relations and the writing between characters so well. Whether it's the obvious one about Mary and Tim, and how they bond and build their relationship and family. Or that of Tim and his father, their secrets, and how emotionally connected they are. Or that of Tim and his sister and how he helps her get out of a somewhat toxic relationship, without using the help of time travel.

Overall, this is a must watch wholesome drama for all. The movie hits best when you watch it at a low. It hits best when your looking to the past with regret. It hits best when the living becomes mundane. It hits best when being alone is hard.

An Average Rom Com
26 February 2023
Anil Kumar Alla's Kalyanam Kamaneeyam is about an unemployed guy looking for a job but failing to find employment despite good qualifications. And how he is convinced to get married to his wife due to her mother being terminal and wanting to see her wedding. Despite, his wife supporting him initially, her boss passing bad comments about his work ethic causes her to suspect him and lose her faith in his sincerity. Then he needs to find a job to prove his sincerity.

The story is not the most novel, but it had potential to be a decent rom com. To be a decent rom com the director's first step would have been to cut the movie down to a 90 minute or 100 minute run time. At it's current state, the movie is too long and feels dragged out at parts.

The movie's message is fine and the comedy could have been written better. The jokes seem bland and cringey, getting Jabardasth writing into a movie doesn't usually work. The punches and one liners made me face palm a few times.

The best part of the movie is Santosh Shobhan and Priya Bhavani Shankar, and their chemistry. They make a great pair. Priya is really good in the role as a working woman and showcases the emotions of having an unemployed husband well. Santosh Shobhan is a good actor, he would have bright future, but he needs to pick up better scripts.

The movie takes some twists and turns to the final point. It did not need so much back and forth, some sequences seemed to be a little repetitive. Would have worked really well as a 100 minute film. The cinematography and production values are great though.

Overall, an average affair. Can watch for Santosh Shoban and Priya Bhavani Shankar. Could have been decent if not for the dragged out sequences and bland jokes.
