More action and tension than I had thought
23 October 2023
This is your regular Nicholas Sparks movie but on top has more action and tension than a lot of action movies.

Nothing special about the romance but very believable. I liked that. There wasn't anything forced: guy likes girl. Girl likes boy. They get to know each other little by little and romance starts. Nothing wild or meet cute or anything. Just people.

Then coming from a family of an alcoholic abusive father I can say 100% this portraits it extremely well.

Finally, the little twist at the end had us sad and happy at the same time.

100% better than a lot of the crap they put on Netflix these days.

This movie has no plot -and if it does, it's a terrible one
7 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I wanted to like this movie. I like J. Salinger's books as much as the next person and I liked Margaret Qualley and Sigourney Weaver but wow this was an awful movie.

Qualley's character is so bland that she falls for the very first guy that says hi to her while in New York. Not only that but she leaves her long time BF for this guy, lives with him for a year, and then just shrugs and says he doesn't like him? She also never broke up with boyfriend A because she doesn't have any ounce of character in her.

The main plot also revolves around Qualley's character doing secretarial duties. Boring.

Watch on a empty stomach
28 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Watched this movie trying to find new films to incorporate to Halloween rotation. Not disappointed but not a film I'd watch twice.

It's nevertheless a great dark movie with a weird ending and good twists. It goes away from anything already out there so it feels very fresh.

Not a jump scare movie either. More a what the heck film with great cinematography and dark atmosphere.

The ending can feel a little too much but other than that it's a good film that keeps you invested until at least the middle of the third act.

My only criticism is that the villains suffer little after everything they done.

Excellent movie for father and son
29 May 2022
Watched this with my 8 YO boy. Great movie for us to bond. The third act is a little long but for a kid his age all the jokes were on point. I know he will watch it again. Recommend it 100%.

Probably the worst movie I've seen
27 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly "Emily in Paris"'is better than this pseudo "french" movie ... Nepotism at it's finest. Hour and a half of two boring characters having boring dinners and visiting boring places.

Another Catfishing is OK movie
14 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Catfishing is not OK. Stop romanticizing it. Same story as other Netflix movies. Wrongful actions get rewarded because "good intentions"?!

Cast has the chemistry of a cereal commercial and jokes are stale as if coming from 2016.

Don't watch.

I just couldn't finish this movie
3 August 2020
An hour or so into the movie and I just had to stop it. I don't care for any of the characters. Too many "lead" roles, plus the dual narrative US/Japan doesn't work. The CGI is terrible. Only one or two scenes that were good.

Screwed timeline, bending bullets, plot armor and invisible bombs
5 February 2020
Won't spoil it but wow, was expecting so much from this movie and it's terrible. A timelime that is surreal with characters appearing and disappearing at plot's will and bullets that bend to land always inches from the character's face. Not believable at all...

Parents WARNING about this movie
5 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This movie gives kids and especially pre-teens the wrong message. Parents DO KNOW BETTER than kids!

No sane parent would allow a girl be in the same cage as a 1 year old lion. Girl is constantly treated as the heroe of the movie for going against what her parents command her to do.

On top of that the SPOILED girl misbehaves and shoots her dad on the leg and again she is rewarded and treated as the heroe.

I regret watching this movie with my kids and had to talk to them afterwards for several minutes.

And yes, killing animals is wrong. They know that.

Another all white cast show from Netflix
26 May 2019
This cast is so white that is difficult to put apart the different white girls one from another. They all look the same! Like an ad from Abercombie & Fitch.

Except from minor outcast characters are major characters look the same.

Top that with boring unrealistic writing and you get just another mediocre Netflix show.

There is NO RAIN in S2
21 May 2019
I liked S1 but S2 is terrible.

The acting and writing gets worse. Character deaths are inconsequential and not mourn for. Characters come and go without anyone taking a moment to recognize it and above all... THERE IS NO RAIN.

It's like the writers understood the concept of fearing rain idiotic (even when I was OK with it) and triec to change the series concept.

The worst of this movie is how old actors are
5 May 2019
How are we supposed to believe these kids are in senior high school years when most look like they are 30?!!

Seriously, besides a terrible plot with boring characters, every one of these actors are oks enough to be out college, let alone high school.

The producers would've done much better picking younger cast (19-22 YO's), but picking these 27 YOs and have them deliver lines about what to do after high school is just cringy.

Best about the movie is Samuel L. Jackson... and the cat
18 March 2019
I enjoyed this movie. It's an OK movie. The kind of movie that would've gone under the radar if it wasn't because it ties to The Avengers and the polemic around Brie Larsson's persona.

If anything Captain Marvel piggy bagged on The Avengers fandom because otherwise mist people wouldn't be interested in this version of a female Superman.

Samuel L Jackson, the cat and the aliens save the movie and make it worth the ticket. Not so much the Captain Marvel character and her story line.

Predator 36 YO woman hitting on 17 - soon to turn 18 boy
18 February 2019
I won't add to what others have already said. This movie is bad, is cringy, is stupid. It's a bad delivered satire and casting is terrible. All of that is "OK" because bad movies are by the dozen. HOWEVER, what is not OK at all, is normalizing a relationship between a 17 year old high-school kid and a 36 year old woman.

In the movie they have sex and she gets pregnant. And it's supposed to be funny. Come on NETFLIX. Just come on.

Age difference in cast is ridiculous
18 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I am getting a little tired of movies portraying a young, childish - looking girl falling for a 20 years older male protagonist.

Also same young, childish looking girl who has been able to survive on her own for years suddenly needs a "strong arm" to survive.

This movie isn't even sci-fi. Is not a dystopia either. It's supposed to be a "love story" about the power of human conexion. To me it's more about Hollywood keeping on with the clichés of young girls and old guys are meant to be together.

Claire Foy is not Lisbeth Salander
13 November 2018
First of I love Claire Foy, she is a fantastic actrees. She is also very sweet. Lisbeth Salander is not. So it doesn't matter how much leather you put on top of Claire, she's never going to resemble Lisbeth Salander, the punk skinny girl with the dragon tattoo on her back. Claire is also "old" for the role. Claire is 34. Lisbeth somewhere between 24 and 26. It wouldn't matter so much except that the books depict Lisbeth as someone that looks fragile, even child-like. Claire on the other hand looks like a mother of two or three kids dressed in a Halloween custome (no offense).

And then we have Sverrir Gudnanson, who looks like he is 32 when Blomkvist is a fater-type figure.

Top that with changing the character's motivations and archetypes completely and you get a disaster. "The Girl in the Spider's Web" could very well be called "Lisbeth Bourne" because somehow in the three years between Dragon Tattoo and this book/film Lisbeth became a 00 type agent.

Terrible movie for fans. Mediocre movie for everyone else.

Catfishing is WRONG - don't romanticized it
10 September 2018
Sierra's character is a self absorbed "smarty pants" character with absolutely nothing going on for her. At no point in the movie you root for her to win over her love interest.

Deceiving someone into thinking you are someone else is simply wrong and in no way should be romanticized.

By the way - Sierra is just as shallow as Veronica or anyone else. The only reason she's into the guy is because he SENT a picture of him right off the bat. Would've she reacted differently if he didn't look as a catalog model? I definately think so.

You'll feel dumber after watching
15 August 2018
This is one of those movies you have to ask yourself - why?

I did'nt watch the trailer but assumed it was a dumb/funny coming of age/teen movie. It's not.

The main plot is the following: One of the main characters chops his penis. The remaining bunch do many things with the lose member. Nothing worth mentioning happens.

Except for "OK" acting, this movie is really bad. One of the worst I've ever seen.

Stay away from it.
