Penance (2020– )
8/10
The find cast deserved a better script, predictable from the opening scene.

I would not call this a thriller, as it was easy to connect the dots, and be two steps ahead of the plotlines. It was easy to decipher what was going to happen next. If there is such a thing as a formulatic thriller this was it. Every key action point in the 2nd and 3rd episodes were predictable and sometimes tedious. I won't go into detail and run the plotlines here, but every twist and turn is easily to see coming a mile off. Still I gave it 8 stars, the acting is very good, Graham and Morrissey are veteran greats who did their best with the material at hand. Tallulah Greive is very good with a role that could have been meatier as we discover her hand in events occurring before the movie starts. Nico Mirallegro had the part of a menacing thug down pat, but seemed to lack empathy when trying to be a grieving grandson. Great acting hamstrung by a predictable script.

Sometimes a one trick pony works

I have to admit , I didn't think I would like the show, but being a fan of Tamsin Grieg and Simon Bird, I gave it a shot. The first episode was dullish, and not going anywhere when Mark Heap, appears and takes over briefly. I am not sure about himself that is so captivating. He captures the true essence of the neighborhood pest oh so well. The acting is done well, and the writing somewhat silly, is saved by the actors, and their delivery. I will admit I was hooked after the first episode ended, and have enjoyed everyone since. I must say my favorite episodes are the ones with Tracey-Anne Oberman, a very talent actress nd of course the grandmother always steals the show. It might not top your list of favorite shows, but it a good solid comedy that will keep you laughing and amused.

Hell to Pay (2005)

The plot was as deep and empty as an elephants grave

Warning: Spoilers
Looked forward to this movie, since it contained several great western all-stars. Acting was pretty good, Drury, Smith and the others did a great job. Even the youngsters were good. The best acting couldn't save the film from the holes in the plot, the lack of continuity, and the poor storyline. In the one scene six men ride up, four are killed, two ride off, the daughter rides after them, kills them but is then killed by another bad guy, where did he come from? Overall was great to see the old stars again, but that was all that was good about this flick. Will someday watch it again to count the mistakes, and errors. That is about all it is good for.
