Becky (2020)
Lulu Wilson does it again
This movie, I skipped passed in the list of films to watch, but on the third list reading I decided to give it a go and wasn't disappointed, Lulu is turning into one of the bright stars of the horror world, after Annabelle and Ouija: Origin of Evil. Missing her in her first film as the daughter of a police detective in Deliver Us from Evil (2014) which is a must watch.
Becky is the story of a troubled 13 year old whose only friend is her two dogs that she loves (which 13 year old isn't troubled) after the death of her mother and the introduction of her fathers wife to be at her family country home, which she is really not too happy about so she take her self off to her 'play' house while her house is invaded by a group of Nazi loving white. Which upset her slightly. The dogs acted better than the convicts, I was glad to see they get what they deserves, LuLu plays moody teenager, I worked with kids the same age and murder is carried in a few of their heads, the story line is not impossible, the writers Nick Morris, Ruckus Skye must know the workings of the mind of a 13 year old to produce a truthful Becky. Kevin James role of the father Dominick spent most of his time telling his daughter to either be quiet or stop the attitude, quite glad when he got it. Ex wrestler turned actors Robert Maillet brings a softer side to the horror Mostly Canadian actors, its a film that should be watched twice to get the full effect of the little things that is missed. But it is open for Becky part two.
A feast for the bloody violence fans, the tension is built up slowly and brings it to a blood splattering end. I hope the on set psychologist takes care of the mind of Lulu as life is never going to be the same for her., one of the up and coming star.
Alien Overlords (2018)
Its not what it seems
I have started watching this movie 3 times for the first 5 minutes, then turned it off, the 4th time, I stuck with it, I am glad I did, for a faux documentary style which I normally hate, this turned out to be one of the better and convincing faux I have seen in a good while. As a huge fan of documentaries, this had me thinking, with the great acting from the main character you really start to believe what he is saying until a third character then starts to make you think again.
If you are into UFO conspiracy stuff then stick with it, you will be believe in it more and if you think that UFO's are just 'swamp gas' then you may come away from this with a different point of view. I thought it was well done, acting was convincing enough to start to put the seeds of truth in your head and then you feel them grow. Get past the first 10 minutes and maybe you will thinking to yourself as Mulder once did 'I want to believe
They Remain (2018)
Where is the cult????
How this has scored so high and many of the reviews I do not know. Slow is not a good enough word for it, it makes me go and find a cult to join and they can put me out of my misery. But seriously I think many of the reviews are influenced by the partaking of huge amounts of spirited fruit juices, then only you are able to make it work. 2 is for the pretty scenery
