Norbit (2007)

So Bad, It's Good!
7 December 2022
I may be a bit biased since I grew up with this movie but I don't think it matters. Yes, this movie is pretty bad, with the writing having a lot of tropes you've seen in other films and the humor is a bit... questionable (Eddie Murphy donning yellowface still makes me uncomfortable), but come on, how can you hate this movie? It has some funny jokes and Rasputia is quotable as hell ("How YOU doin'?"). Plus, surprisingly enough, Eddie Murphy as Norbit has great chemistry with Thandie Newton as Kate. I highly suggest y'all give this a watch if you wanna just turn off your brain and have a good time!

Treated Unfairly
7 October 2022
It's a massive shame how this show is a 5/10. The fans who hate this show are WAY too biased towards the 2012, 2003, and 1987 versions (and this is coming from someone who thinks the 2012 version is the definitive version). Although the humor can be hit-or-miss (with just a few dated references), the animation is stunning, the action sequences are magnificent, the characters are awesome, the jokes (for the most part) are funny, and the writing as a whole is great. Also, the voice acting is top-tier (especially from Ben Schwartz as Leo). I'm pretty disappointed with the fans constantly complaining about how "bad" this is without even watching it.

Years later, I still like this movie...

Make no mistake, this movie is really bad. The humor kinda falls flat at times and it's not even a good adaptation of the Cat, but I grew up with this and let me just say that this is one of those movies that are "so bad, it's good". Just a movie to watch when you want to turn off your brain, you know? I see why people dislike this movie but honestly, I feel it's way too overhated.

Great for Eminem fans, good for everybody else
25 March 2021
This movie has a predictable plotline but what makes it so unique is that unlike all the other celebrity cash grab movies (Crossroads, Glitter, etc..), it's not here to sell a soundtrack or make the artist relevant again, it feels like an actual movie. This movie is realistic. And for a guy who's never acted before, Eminem gives a damn-good performance as Jimmy (B-Rabbit), and I loved the character's relationship with his little sister.

One of the most BORING movies I've ever watched...
18 December 2020
The only thing this movie truly has it going for is the (insultingly) beautiful animation. The visuals are stunning, everything is bright and colorful (for a kids movie, at least), and the emoji designs... are not really that bad.

With that being said, watching this movie from start to finish was THOROUGHLY unenjoyable. The writing was some of the worst I've ever seen, the screenplay is horrible, the plot is bland & repetitive, the characters are annoying/forgettable, and the humor.. my god, the humor. The only, and I mean the ONLY times I've at least had a smile on my face was right at the beginning where we see that that the text emoticons are considered the elderly in their universe, and the Just Dance scene, as I love Just Dance. Also, what is with this movie and playing "Feel This Moment" by Pitbull and Christina Aguilera twice? I personally love the song but man, why couldn't they just pick a different song for the end?

Overall, this movie really IS as bad as everyone said it was back in 2017. Don't show this to your kid(s). Show them Wreck-It-Ralph, The Lego Movie, or Inside Out instead. They'll have way more fun watching those movies instead of this boring mess.

Idle Hands (1999)

This movie is pretty bad, but it's the GOOD kind of bad.
12 October 2019
When I heard that Jessica Alba, Vivica A. Fox, Devon Sawa, and, most of all, Seth Green was in this movie, I had to give it a watch.

This movie is filled to the brim with typical horror movie clichés and bad dialogue. But I'm pretty sure that's what this film was going for. To make a mockery of horror movies with said clichés and terrible dialogue.

Idle Hands isn't a MASTERPIECE, by any means. But its comedy, tone, large amounts of pot jokes (yes, there are a LOT of those), and likable/comical characters is what kept me entertained. I will continue to watch this movie when I need a good laugh, and I highly suggest you do too.
