Corsicana (2022)
Where do I start?......
The basic storyline being based on a real person and real events was OK. It was in my opinion quite good for a low budget movie. But, the flaws were in the acting (some characters over acted whilst others under acted). I guess this is down to the director as much as the actors.
Some of the scenic photography was OK whilst the action scenes were somewhat thwarted and lacked fluidity. The end "shoot out" was apalling. Again no fluidity, no direction and rather scenes just did not work. As an example the "taking out" of the sharp shooter "California" was pathetic and unplaisible with a single shot from the protagonist taking him out whilst completely hidden whilst hundreds of simple shots with targets in plain sight failed to hit their mark. So whether it was director or editor to blame it just did not work.
Last of all the research was very flawed with one of the "baddies" pulling doemwn his zipper. Baring in mind that the zipper was only invented in 1893, and the movie was set in 1893 but the zipper did not go into production until 1913!
Result poor show on many fronts.
Fauda (2015)
No holds barred
Living in the west, the conflict at the heart of this great series is almost impossible for us to comprehend. The almost infinite number of factions within the Palestinians sets the scene for a complex storyline where tribes are divided by views but united by a passion to gain back their ancestral territories.
The Israelies are portrayed as dominating and ruthless in their quest to retain these territories and it is inferred that they are rightfully doing so. However, their brutality and ruthlessness in keeping control is gut wrenching.
The Story revolves around an Israeli team who of special forces who rule with a rod of iron and think nothing of murder, interrogation and torture.
I found myself being drawn into believing that the Israelies were the "good guys" but you will make up your own mind. The key figure in aof the blood bath is the Arabic/Hebrew speaking Doron who is ruthless but selfless all at the same time.
Each episode succeeded in ending on so much of a high that I felt compelled to watch the next episode and crammed all three series into a couple of days. Subtitles didnt detract in any way. Without doubt my favourite box set for a few years and I look forward to Season 4
Tomorrow's World (1965)
Wrong TV Programme
Unfortunately neither of the two previous reviews bothered to check details. They spoke from the heart about this fantastic/iconic BBC institution but failed to notice that their revues were actually tagged to a us documentary series of the same name and completely irrelevant to the BBC original
Beyond the Line (2019)
Unusually Bad
Unfortunately this movie did not deliver on ANY level. The plot was potentially a good one about the closing days of WW2 in Europe but the weak story line and wooden actors were doomed from the start. The cast was very small with each playing multiple roles and they simply could not carry it off.
The SFX were third rate which was right on par with every other aspect of this movie.
If you can find the strength to sit through the movie, take an extra 3 minutes to read the closing credits that will acknowledge the endeavours of the entire family of the writer/producer/director (Jason Mills). Talk about keeping it in the family!
There was way too much "Drone" footage and it transpires that the Drone was owned by another family member (probably an xmas gift).
In summary this creation had no redeeming features and it is to be avoided at all costs!
