Ee. Ma. Yau (2018)
Beautiful Yet In A Haunting Way
The film is an experience. There are many levels in which the film excels. The thought on this film is simple, a very thin plot nothing miraculous or nothing mindbending, but this film excels by taking such a short "can happen story' and making it haunting, the 2 hrs that we spend becomes a long funeral.
like the name says this film is all about the funeral.
The cast is amazing, Vinaykan like always sets himself apart, Chemban Vinod Jose really blend into the situation and we can feel the tension on yhis face even he is turning back, the film ends in a predictable way but this film is nothing about the ending its all about the situation the tension the slow poison effect.
this may not be the cup of tea for everyone but it is magical.
Wind River (2017)
Cold....
Even from the title we can get a clear feeling of the coldness that the film depicts. The entire film is set in Wind River, Wyoming and the absolute silence and the snow creates the perfect background for cold blooded murder and rape. The film showcases real life issues....
The real strength of the film is its gripping Story and the great performances from the cast. The story is not a mind twister its original, the film is true to what it depicts and to what the real issues are. The performance is great Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen delivers a great teamwork. Good going Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch.
Personally i suggest you guys to watch the film in a more silent area i think it'll have a better impact on the whole film experience.
96 (2018)
The South Indian ''In The Mood For Love''.
Hats Of to The Director The Cast and The Crew for bringing us such a beautiful and elegant movie!
The Movie oscillates between the 90's and the 21st era. It combines the innocence of the school love and the much more practical life and relation of the middle age people.
The cast was brilliant. I really think that there is no other actor or actress who could've done any better. Heart Touching performances by both the leads, they make you laugh out loud, they make you cry, they make you smile, they make you feel the pain that they felt and its soo biting.
I saw this film in the big screen with my friends and at the interval time i said to my friend that this film reminded me of Richard Linklater films "the Before Trilogy" (its personal: spending one night together, the treatment all together). but when the film ended my interpretation was no where near what was going on. The film has moved from a ordinary innocent love to a more platonic level. This film gripped me similar to Kar-Wai-Wong's Classic ''In The Mood for Love'', both the films featured this amazing and addictive BGM and portrayed platonic love.
Lust was no where to be seen in this film.
Personally i don't watch much Tamil films but i had planned to watch 96 after watching the cult film "Vikram Vedha'. I was glancing at the screen with my mouth open, i could't catch some of the dialouge but why think of it when the film is all about the experience.
Its all about nostalgia, how this 2 and a half hours can take you back to your school days and your first love and for every person who have't had the chance for first love in your schools days, well tough luck, welcome to the tribe.
For me this film has became one of the most romantic Indian films.
