Halo: Thermopylae (2024)
Admiral Parangosky is TERRIBLE
The worst written character in the show by far. There is no depth whatsoever to the character and her sole plot device is to make the worst decision possible at all times. I can't point to one moment across two seasons where she has done anything to move the plot in a positive direction.
In this episode, not only does she continue that trend, but SOMEHOW knows all about Halo and what it can do. HOW? How is that possible that no one has any idea but this person? So infuriating and there's no reason for it. Without her the show would be fine and would remove a few RIDICULOUS set backs.
Get rid of the poorly written characters in this show ASAP.
Reacher: ATM (2023)
Not Reacher and Too predictable
I am watching the writers think they don't have to try anymore. A 10 year old who was told who Reacher is probably wrote the script while all the writers were off on strike.
That's all I really have to say on this and here's my prediction of what happens after watching the first 10 minutes and turning it off.
Reacher finds the people that Calvin (whoever) was working for. One of them seems bad, isn't bad, the real bad guy from his team (omg!). Then he hunts his old teammate down and it gets emotional for no reason. Then he catches him, maybe his partner gets shot but she survives. The end.
The reason I say it's not reacher is the scene when he gets evidence in the coffee shop. They turned him into Sherlock Holmes. He gets the evidence, looks at it for 3 seconds and knows everything. Even Sherlock has to study the evidence and you watch him come to a conclusion. Even that conclusion isn't always 100%. Reacher takes 3 seconds to tell me everything that happened in the crime. At least have him study the evidence before he makes the crazy conclusions.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part IV (2022)
HAHAHAHAHA Who wrote this?!
Crucial dialogue to start Kenobi back on the search for Leah is sooooo lazy it's unbelievable. Man says he won't help, man says traumatic thing as reason he won't help... you must help... you want my help you got it.
Nothing changes and he changes his mind!!
- also they snuck in "Leah knows everything they'll find where we are" completely ignored by both men AND HOW DOES LEAH KNOW ANYTHING?
I'm so sorry but for how short this series is, could they really not figure out better plot drivers?
Coming off the weakest first fight scene between Kenobi and Vader like absolutely no force used and he gets destroyed but they Vader for some reason can't go around a fire LOL.
Halo (2022)
Lazy
This is not a Halo nerd review. This is the laziest, cliche, duplicate piece of media I've seen in years. Every piece of dialogue has been done before and the plot walks along the most basic line ever created.
It feels so cringe how soft they make master chief just for some manufactured character arch. In order to create some character development (probably the only attempt for any character) they rely on artificially removing, then creating emotions for him. And then it's stagnant after that.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 4: The Gathering Storm (2022)
Finally
Boba Fett returns to being someone who should be feared in the Star Wars universe.
Star Wars villains or anti-heros are hard core people and not boring peaceful softies. This is a return to that for Boba Fett.
Eternals (2021)
Cuts
This movie might set the record for most scene cuts in cinematic history. I mean it feels like every scene is a montage, making it so fast and hard to see any actual acting in the movie other than the pandering shots. For a 2.5 hour movie, it feels unbelievably rushed. Easy to follow and fun to watch but not memorable because it's so distracting how each scene is shot.
I.e. Kit harringtons first kiss with his eternal girlfriend literally took multiple cuts. It's like the editor was on 100mg of adderall and thought he could make each scene perfect by cutting it up so much for the "best" shots.
What If...?: What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark? (2021)
Best so far
This episode is driven so excellently. Roller coaster of what's going to happen and so many instances to form your own thoughts rather than be guided.
Honestly you see the characters' core, but under such extremely different circumstances its only right different choices and behaviors happen.
What If...?: What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord? (2021)
Oh yeah
Thanos was kinda weak but the collector made up for it so dank tchalla just a natural born leader is killing it in the universe. This one is a ride and I loved it.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Can't tell if good or bad for a while
This movie had ups and downs, time traveling action cheesy-ness, but surprised me with some deep situations (character interactions felt real and intense). However it's hard to say any character had an arch. It's pretty much exactly the movie you think it will be, but with some really good scenes and modern writing to keep it interesting.
The movie itself knew it was cheesy, calling itself out at times for typical movie scenes/sequences, which was funny. I would rank this higher but I honestly watched it last night and barely remember it.
Black Widow (2021)
Fun
Fun movie decent plot and depth, cool villains. If you like superhero movies you'll like this one.
Relax, have fun, you'll enjoy it.
Already rewatched it, enjoyed it again. Catch so many instances where rather than using movie magic they make a point to show how they get away. First task master encounter you see Natasha open the case. The tourniquet delay when in pursuit for bait taskmaster.
This movie really spoke to Natasha's superpower, the super spy.
Wanted to lower it to a 7, but I think due to unnecessary hate and high expectations I'll keep it here. Do my part to get more people to see it.
