Booba (2014)
Sets a horrible example for children, zero educational value
At first glance it's a cute show about a baby Yeti having adventures, but my 5yo son developed behavioral issues after watching it. I guess it's supposed to be slapstick comedy, which would be fine for kids old enough to know it's just fiction and they can't really act like that in real life, but Booba routinely misbehaves and get into unsafe situations that little kids try to emulate. He eats non-food items, breaks glass, destroys things, climbs ladders and furniture, and gets his head stuck in things. There's no educational value, no dialogue, and Booba is never supervised or punished. Everything just turns out fine in the end after he completely destroys his environment and causes mayhem with zero repercussions.
My son began climbing the furniture, playing with electrical cords, and throwing things after seeing Booba do those things. We have had several accidents that almost resulted in my son getting seriously hurt. He used to be able to play alone in his room but now we're having to re-baby proof the house and watch him closely again. Last week he threw his little chair across the room and nearly shattered a window, if it had hit just a few inches to the right we'd have had a sliced up kid and broken glass everywhere. Many times I've entered the room just in the nick of time to stop him from trying to climb a bookshelf or dresser and jump off just like Booba.
So yeah, Booba is now BANNED FOREVER in this household.
13 Reasons Why (2017)
Flawed but necessary
I like 13 Reasons Why despite it's shortcomings.Yes Hannah is self-centered and annoying, but most teens are. This show confronts a lot of dark topics that people like to pretend don't exist or are not that bad. I think Tyler is probably my favorite character, for some reason I really empathize with him even though he started out as the creepy guy. The bathroom scene legit made me cry. I have no comment on the infamous Ani cause I'm only through season 2 so far, but we'll see if she ruins it for me lol.
You (2018)
A glimpse into the mind of a "nice guy"
This is a great show and if recommend it to anyone who's ever been pursued by a "nice guy" or who's interested in psychology, but I would have enjoyed it more if Beck was a more likeable and interesting character. The whole time I just wondered, "why her?" I didn't get why Joe became obsessed with such a boring, shallow, utterly basic girl. Ooh she likes books... like MOST people do. Not a reason to fall madly in love! Honestly Joe, the neighbor kid, and the girl he dates after Beck are the only characters in this show that didn't irritate me with how stupid and dull they were. I'd have enjoyed it more if he became obsessed with Peach, she was awful but at least she had a personality that couldn't be fully summarized by a "live laugh love" poster and a pumpkin spice latte.
Anyway, it's still a great show and I hope they make more seasons.
