The Writer with No Hands (2014)
So bad I thought it was a mockumentary
This thing is so ridiculously awful that I was convinced it must be a faux found footage movie and not a real documentary. I was shocked when I looked it up near the end and learned that it is in fact a real documentary but that almost makes it even worse. It tried so hard to be creepy and create tension or suspense but failed miserably. It's too bad because had it contained some facts about its subject matter, it could have been an incredibly interesting documentary. Unfortunately I will have to look Devore up and learn about him and his death on my own. Maybe I should make a movie documenting my online search. It would be more interesting that what I just watched!
Unraveled (2021)
Awful podcast voice and cadence!
I'm watching unraveled mystery at the mansion on discovery plus and the voice over/narration is the epitome of terrible podcaster voice and tempo. It's so distracting I can't even finish watching it. Plus they are really bad at interviewing people.
Finding Andrea (2021)
Pack of fools drawing conclusions from thin air!
This series is laughably frustrating in that every person involved in the investigation spouts one inane "conclusion" based on nothing after another. Half the series everyone is insisting one poor woman must have been involved because she drove Andrea over the bridge at 3:00 am. Woops! Turns out the idiot telling everyone this is a fact because she saw the toll receipt herself was too stupid to see it said 3:00 PM!! Don't get me started on the retired cop who is about as smart as his girlfriend who saw the toll receipt. They try to draw you in by not so subtly inferring the cartel is the culprit. Absurd! Cartel wouldn't waste their time on this. Poor family needs to get far away from these fools.
The Last Narc (2020)
Why doesn't anyone care that our government did this??
Most engrossing docuseries I have ever seen. I studied this in undergrad in a class about governmental crime. It was horrifying then and it's even more horrifying now because after all this time not one of the US government agents involved paid for their crimes and corruption. Everyone still has Reagan on a pedestal despite his huge role in bringing drugs into this country. This doc is incredibly well done and is by far the best I've ever seen. I just wish it were recognized by the media to bring it to the attention of the general public. This is a must watch!
