Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears (2020)
Sadly because it was for the fans, without the accuracy of the original author very mediocre.
Not to disappoint the fans they made a movie rather than continue with more books or at least an input from the original author of the books and her input on accuracy for the time this doesn't have that flavor or the accuracy necessary. It supposedly takes place in Israel or Palestine of the 1920s to be precise 1929 and it lacks many of what is famously known about that time; for starters as somebody met one of the last members of the Abu gosh family who dates back to the time of the mandate two things are inaccurate firstly Arabs whether they were bed wins or city dwellers of any kind what a Christian or not we referred to as Arabs. Religion would be marked that they were either Arab Christian or Arab Muslim the only people refer to as Palestinian where Jews and this I was told first hand buy a very proud member of the Abu gosh family who showed me his mandate identification card and told me Point Blank when I said why doesn't say Palestinian that the only Palestinians that had it marked in their identification at that time were Jews. 2nd and accuracy is making it sound like the Negev is close to Jerusalem which it is far from as it is south and far closer to the Egyptian border then to Jerusalem. There are other points such as there are points in the background which are not accurate either as somebody who has traveled within the Holy Land I find that the inaccuracies in this are typical of the prejudice that one finds toward the Holy Land in general and its Jewish population in particular. It is said that Australia is anti-Semitic and one gets the feeling that this might be the case based on so many inaccuracies concerning the. And the behavior of what it is seems to be the people of that land. For one thing the prison that the Bedouin girl would have been imprisoned still stands to this day and is in downtown Jerusalem it is the police headquarters. I realize that those Australians in charge of this film wanted to make a fun film that have the taste flavor of the original series but they didn't do their homework. And you can see this by the sequel they created in the new modern Miss Fisher. It lacks Style it lacks all the things that we have come to expect from a Miss Fisher peice, does that mean this is not worth watching no, what it means is that instead of it being the equivalent of a 10 * sequel to the series it is instead a five star and it's sad because the only thing holding it together are the two main leads although to be truthful both the new Young Australian actress Izabella Yena and the one who plays her uncle mr. Naga excellent in their roles and play them very well it is just sad that the original cast aren't given the full opportunity to show their sparkling acting and characters Dottie is a cameo her husband as well and that is the saddest thing of all. You know I understand in these trying times but was it worth the wait no and it was big disappointment for those of us who waited for so long.
The Knight Before Christmas (2019)
Better than Hallmark sweet movie with few flaws
Excellent fun movie and fairly accurate in medieval aspects...don do let the nay sayers turn you from watching it...I highly recommend it.
Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries (2019)
No where as good as the original to many plot holes.
Okay maybe not exactly plot holes but if you have seen the original Miss Fisher then you will be disappointed by this it's most glaring detail is calling her niece Perigrin Fisher it messes up logic. First the last name, Fisher would not have been her sisters name if she was a "love child" as she would have had her mother's name. Second even if she had chosen (which by the fact that when Phrannie sent her letters they were returned unopened) she would not have taken the name of a father who didn't recognise her . Lastly back when this 1960's Ms Fisher would have been born illegitimate I know in both England and certain parts of the US illegitimate children could inherit nothing. She doesn't even read the letters? And would Phrannie have left it to letters or would she have gone to see her in person? Her character in Miss Fisher episodes leads one to believe she would not leave it to letters. Also where is Jane? Too many questions no answers... They just want the fans to watch something so not Miss Fisher.
I Am Frankie (2017)
Another Nickelodeon Rip off?
This looks like the CBBC show EVE and yes I watched the first episode and it was so a like that it has me asking is this a bought US remake of the original or a ripped of one? Eve was before even the Colombian version which was like Eve only two seasons long. So was this bought or ripped of? I liked the original CBBC version more then the first two episodes of this.
