What the Folks (2017)
Must watch.
This show is simply so brilliant. I came across it quite late when they dropped the trailer of the final season. 1st season dealt with managing the in laws in a very light, quirky mood, 2nd one grew a bit complex, 3rd one talked about falling out of love and moving on and this one, Akshita and Anita both taking mature decisions and how Indian parents deal with it. The relation shared by Nikhil and Akshu is really underrated, I just love the bond they share. It's a must watch.
Meri Pyaari Bindu (2017)
Close to the heart.
This movie is such a gem. Ayushmann Khurrana's acting is like water flowing in a stream. The nostalgic old songs, the madness, the Bengali touch and accent are it's plus points, Bengalees fall for it. Parineeti's good in this film. The film is hilarious at some times, will make you smile and cry at the same moment. There's a lot of emotion depicted. 'Maana ke hum yaar nehi' is so soulful, the rain, the atmosphere, the lyrics, a Bengali get-together which felt so special and close to the heart.
Aamis (2019)
Speechless
This movie, starting from a perspective, barge into a whole new world of craziness, passion and the ultimate hunger. A person is so in love with a lady, nearly twice her age, that he cooks himself to offer the lady. The lady is not satisfied with such small pieces, she wants more, she craves for thighs and arms. They murder a rickshawala to fulfill her desires, but the intervention of the police, futiles everything. But the last sequence, where they finally hold their hands without hesitation, with their faces covered and news reporters murmuring...is the emblem of their true love, ravening...
The Sinner (2017)
Great story
In the second season, Julian, the main protagonist, is a really absurd boy, not by choice, but the upbringing. To know who his real parents are, you have to wait till the last episode. The story comes to and fro, to clear every plot. The emotions of a mother is hugely depicted and that it does not always need to be linked with bloodline. The psychic revelations, the panic, the trauma, created is a good watch. Only 2 questions, according to me didn't quench my thirst :
1.Why don't Ambrose remember what happened on his way home from Vera at night?
2.How can Vera lactate at the birth of Julian and Marin not, although being the surrogate mother?
What/If (2019)
Manipulative
The real star of the show is Anne Montgomery, all others defocus but her. She's manipulative, sultry, sexy beyond of her age, her drooling cheeks. She is strong, and quite a mind reader...a psychological binge on her character. She has a past which unfolds slowly in the entire show, each episode directed by different directors is a gem to the crown. Loved it, loved the story telling, the editing and the direction, with no unnessesary plot twists.
Meghnadbodh Rohoshyo (2017)
Redemption
A very much twisting subplot with wonderful cinematography and story telling that slowly peels the onion and makes way for the bulb. Meghnadbodh Kabyo has no such connection with the story (its a weapon) but the story of betrayal has been used as the USP. Certainly its a good watch and a delight to watch Sabyasachi Chakroborty, out of FeludA. There are so many good actors who do not get the privilege of their desired acting.
Russian Doll (2019)
Death death and death
Wow, seemingly the crucial characters die over and over and over. The girl is portrayed to be a drug addict and wishing to get over her birthday party but she cannot as she dies over the road on her way all the times in different ways but returns to square one in the bathroom in front of an open tap and a mirror in the front and constant knocking at the doorway. She finds another person on her journey who is suffering from the same thing over and over and they seem to have been linked with each others death. Everything, eachtime happens to be in a different way but the thing which reminds us that they are living the same day is, with the rottening of fruits and shedding of flowers. They again find themselves to but on a parrallel universe sabotaging their memories about each other. But things whats going on give you a wide smile when those parallel lines somehow met at infinity.
You (2018)
Psycho
Wow! This webseries really got me nuts. Its absolutely a crap thing at the end but it seems interesting and awkward as well to get yourself always get watched and stalked by an intruder. The boy is so much obssesed with the girl that he gets on killing the people who can be a harm to her or have a relation with her. And the crazy thing about this is that he never gets caught. He believes in karma. One thing that he has done the best is by killing the person who ought to get killed. Finally he kills his own girlfriend and again he returns with a new chapter escaping the police's eyes.
Criminal Justice (2019)
Great attempt
The story deals with quite undeceitful situations and the way suspect gets involved in it. The society is widely picturised, the sentiments were greatly criticized as well as the police force was hugely questioned and the manipulation by the powerful. But each episodes were run for atleast 45 mins and even to an hour, and was dragged for a lot with inessential subplots for the final outcome.
Badla (2019)
Didnt meet expectations
Got in the theatre with so many expectations but came out with a gloomy face. The first half was interesting but the second half has got all the twists and turns. A completely engaging story but so much twists and turns made it a cliche. All the loose ends got knotted up and it felt that the whole duration of the movie was a lie but this time not like Andhadhun. Sujoy Ghosh had met a great effort in the upbringing of the movie but according to me this time it was not that lit.
Andhadhun (2018)
Sunspense down your spine
A great plot, a great twist, a wonderful story, a wonderful screenplay. This movie is quite unpredictable and sequential. Ayushmann Khuranna's probably best judgement to this movie. The songs, the rough piano playing will certainly give you goosebumps. Tabu steals everyones heart when she is on screen. This character hardly with any feminine qualities undergoes too much mercilessness and rage. Lastly the story telling which leaves you inebrieted till the end - a wonderful tarse. Director Raghavan has really done justice to the movie and it gonna remain in every a movie lover's heart.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017)
Quenches the thirst
Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri, is one of the most interesting and thought provocating movie with some awesome written characters and heavily interwoven unpredictable situations. In the movie with every win there comes a failure. The switching of characters, the farce created throughout the journey of a mother fighting through the demons of his family as well as the whole Ebbing, is relentless. But the end comes to a loose end of providing a justice to another rapist who is placed under confirmatory issues. And this is for the first time we see the mother smile in the whole movie.
