Joshua killed me as well!
3 April 2024
A contract killer turned bodyguard trying to protect his love interest from international bad elements.

Though the movie had considerable budget, the execution was terrible.

Listing them in points:

1. Acting was horrible, especially of Varun's. There was no expression at all, with so much stunt training going on, I think he skipped basic acting lessons.

2. The movie is basically a copy of Hitman's bodyguard, Bodyguard series (Netflix), John Wick, Bourne and 100 other movies. Just made with low quality.

3. GVM, in the name of so called "classy movie" has made this movie with cringe filled redundant scenes. The generous use of "English" in his movie doesn't mean it's synonymous to international standards or quality. One easily gets distracted from a scene in just a couple of minutes.

4. Lot of logic loopholes with forced and predictable scenes. In fact a movie need not have a well defined good story, even a simple story could be well executed in a good way through screenplay, cinematography and dialogues but this movie didn't have any of those things

At the end it is just an action movie overshadowed by terrible acting and poor story. Watch if you don't want to use your brain much.

Hardly brought any laughs
17 February 2024
Right from the first few minutes of the film it is evident that the director tried to imitate Edgar Wright's style of directing (Shaun of the dead, Hot Fuzz etc.,). He terribly failed at it and ended up creating a half cooked weak plotted nightmare with forced laughs and cliche filled scenes.

Another important point is that actors should stop playing roles as teenage kids in school, as if we are still in 1980s or something. The movie 96 did a great job in this by being practical with brilliant casting.

Wonder why tamil cinema is doing so bad nowadays, we should stop encouraging such films and should not even watch it on OTT so that the directors feel the heat and stop making such low quality boring films.

Mediocre
17 June 2022
New director, cibi's movie Don is about a youngster's life journey from being a student to a successful professional, that is filled with comedy, love and dad sentiment.

I anticipated a typical SK movie in lines of comedy gold like Varuthapadatha V. Sangam and Rajinimurugan. But the movie turned out to be a disappointment.

The major flaw that I noticed is that the scenes are cut short i.e, editing is quick without breathing space like that of new age YouTube content creators. (May be to attract gen z) As a result SK's humour is affected exponentially. Now SK has an amazing natural sense of humour, and it has made wonders for him. But his style requires long shot scenes with a mix of timed dialogue delivery and body language, all working in tandem. If you make his scenes like YT shorts then definitely it's gonna look messy.

There is a general lack of flow in the movie, scenes doesn't seem to fit together, thus screenplay is affected.

Other thing is, dialogues are poorly written. I think if SK took care of the dialogue part himself, the movie would have been much better.

Last and final, please it's bloody 2022, why do you show a grown middle aged man as a school boy. We have witnessed this in Tamil cinema for ages. The movie 96 broke that trend and thus was realistic. In my opinion movie stars should embrace their age and act accordingly, they can easily refuse such impractical age roles.

In a nutshell, the movie is not that funny, and sentiment is as that of usual typical old-school Tamil cinema making it as an one time watchable movie suitable for teenagers only.

Watch it at your own risk
11 May 2022
A movie copied from a ton of Hollywood flicks scene by scene then topped by typical Indian masala, dance number and stupid humour.

Director should be punished by law for making such a horrible disaster, only then future of Tamil cinema would be secured.

I feel bad for Vijay, waste of talent.

Feel like throwing up!

This is one of the worst movie in the cinematic history. Full of predictability, cliches, and cringe moments.

It is the product of cheap script and brainless direction. I feel pity for actor Ajith, he is nice man but stuck in bad roles. I wonder why would a sane man ever accept these kinds of scripts.

In short, watch this movie if you want to kill your brain cells.

Stupid movie, no-brainer
11 February 2022
A movie can't be made any worse than this. Each and everything in this movie was easily predictable. It was extremely difficult to sit through the whole movie without getting bored as hell.

Waste of talented actor like Vikram, may be he is concentrating more on developing his son's career, while his son dhruv's acting is poor, he needs to learn a lot.

In a nutshell this movie is a piece of garbage wrapped in gift wrapper.

Phenomenal

This is a quality movie, apart from the social message it tries to give as described in many reviews, the direction, cinematography, acting and importantly music is top notch.

Honestly speaking, I like to watch western movies a lot and have always wondered why we aren't able to bring such quality in our home cinema here. But guess what, this movie has made me think otherwise. Infact this movie outsmarted many hollywood standards.

I wish more of such original and sensible movies are made in our country and let Tamil cinema take the leadership banner.

Below Average !!
18 June 2021
The movie's beginning was promising and different, expected an entertainer like Quintin Tarantino's movie ( btw Kartik Subburaj's works are generally inspired on Tarantino's style only) but as movie progressed it got worse and became a meaningless disaster. Completely lost interest thereafter.

I would say in the end it is a wasted opportunity for the director and also ruins south Indian cinema's image among global audience.

Horrible nightmare
23 May 2021
How did this movie even managed to get through censor board.

It encompasses blatant hate mongering and mediaeval mindset.

Above all the movie in itself including direction, acting, music everything is far below standards.

This is the perfect example of how worse can a movie be made.

Utter stupidity at its best.

1. Lack of thinking, 2. Lazy script, 3. Poor direction, 4. Taking audience for granted, 5. Age old script, 6. Typical masala stupid movie, 7. 100% waste of time,

Finally this movie is a shame to Tamil cinema, which has earned nation wide reputation in recent times for making quality movies.

Slow and predictable
28 February 2021
The movie is very predictable. It is not engaging enough and bores you at many places in the movie. Story had potential but was not utilised properly.
