Falling Skies (2011)
didn't get very far
I couldn't make it past the first episode. annoying dumb characters making emotional nonsensical choices, really distracts from the moment. really can't watch this. was looking forward to it!
Bloodline (2015)
Good for a few episodes
This show seemed compelling at first, as the characters were developed and their stories slowly revealed. Towards the end of season 1 though I found it loses its appeal pretty quickly. It degenerates in to a show about one guy running around sabotaging everybody around him. I don't really see the appeal. I will finish the season in case it turns around but right now there isn't really anything engaging about the story. It's just sad and depressing.
Riverdale: Chapter Fifty-One: Big Fun (2019)
Didn't they get the hint the first time?
If I'm not mistaken, the first attempt at a musical episode was not well received. And now, as the series continues to degrade from a charming story of small town teenagers to a soap opera of full blown sociopaths, a lot of viewers are hanging on by a thread. I don't think this episode helped at all.
Into the Badlands (2015)
Come for the action, stay for the plot
I really enjoy the plot of the show, but I find the fight scenes difficult to tolerate. They're over the top, camera angles are horrendous, and they just go on forever. You know what's going to happen, all the bad guys will get their limbs chopped off and the heroes will come out on top. So it's a bit of a yawn as you wait for it to play out every time. Also the laws of physics seem to temporarily go out the window. If you fast forward through the fight scenes, it's watchable and the overall story is pretty enjoyable. Great cinematic too.
Travelers: Grace (2016)
great so far!
I'm really enjoying this show, haven't started season 2 yet. My only gripe is the Carly character who seems to making terribly irrational decisions nearly non stop and sabotaging everybody around her. All of the characters have displayed moments of weakness but they generally are able to pull themselves back in line fairly quickly. But Carly just seems to be going further and further off ghe rails and I find it's really disrupting the flow of the show.
Can only hope that aspect turns around but aside from that it has been fantastic so far!
Lethal Weapon (2016)
A hit and a miss
This was a pleasant surprise as I randomly came across it while browsing netflix. Had no idea they made a show. In my opinion they did a great job with Riggs but a really poor job with the murtaugh character. He comes across as an obnoxious, insecure, unfunny buffoon and even in the show it's quite clear nobody can stand him. A sad contrast to the character in the original movies and a great injustice to Danny Glover. For me, Riggs is the element that made the show watchable. By drifting in and out of naps whenever Murtaugh opened his mouth I was able to get through his talking bits with only moderate levels of anguish.
With Riggs now gone at the end of season 2 (presumably?), I won't be coming back to the show. It was nice while it lasted, though.
