Doctor Slump (2024)
At least 5 episodes too long.
Started off ok - a bit cliché-ridden but good performances by main cast and side players. Credibility straining as time went in and it had really fun out of plot by episode 8.
Many of the flashbacks served no purpose and the supporting actors live story was actually more interesting than that if the main characters.
Notable tropes include: several wrist grabs, at least two accidental swoons, several wake-ups in the wrong place after drinking, a premature death of a parent, a hospital stay with an unidentifiable IV drip and numerous occasions of going out to eat after the characters have just eaten
Nice directing and camera work certainly helped move this along but, if you're after a good drama with a well-written plot then look elsewhere.
Asteroid City (2023)
Only giving the stars for the sets and costume
It's a typical quirk fest of a Wes Anderson movie that's in search of a plot (spoiler - it didn't find one) the cast deserved a better script and the set constructors, lighting, makeup artist.... in fact everyone that put their talents toward the making of this movie, were similarly short-changed. Overall, I was left with a number of questions about the purpose and meaning of some of the "plot" side roads and diversions. However, taking the whole thing into consideration, I came to the conclusion that I probably didn't need to know the answers and there probably were no answers. It's a meaningless string of live theatre-like scenes combined into pointless movie.

Cliche replaces script on this travesty
Staccato lines delivered by actors so wooden they should have a fire hazard warning. The script is truly awful. What a terrible waste of a story that could be so much better. Only the sfx and cgi redeem this turkey.
