Drømmeren (2022)
Without the aesthetics , boring long winded tale of a petulant narcissist.
The first episode promised a potentially interesting watch with beautiful scenery and the stunning backdrop of a Danish stately home and grounds. . The second episode I was getting fed up with a narcissistic hugely privileged woman with really bad taste in men sulkingly and selfishly disregarding the people around her as not up to her sense of self importance. She wasn't the gifted , talented woman of her era, she was literally the epitome of spoilt brat. By the third episode I couldn't finish it,my time is too precious. As for her 'tales' interspaced in the drama I found them so annoyingly naïve and dreary, no wonder no publishers were interested. The cinematography was well done, the subject was not worth the effort.
Saint Maud (2019)
Don't bother
Just don't bother. It's another dark scenes and disturbing music borefest. Predictable and cliché. Another serving of todays mindless arthouse attempting waste of your time.
The Electrical Life of Louis Wain (2021)
Pleasant viewing with a few heart strings attached
I watch less and less movies, so hard to find one that holds my attention for long. I enjoyed this as well as possible given the usual 'woke' bits, like coloured people appearing quite regularly where in honesty there were not coloured people in the streets of England at that time. I know it's all so that the younger generations accept diversity but why change history? Also the cliché swearing and terms really inappropriate for Victorian times, apart from that which always gets an eye roll it was entertaining maybe more for the female population or is that not acceptable to say in thsese ridiculously bizarre times.
The Gloaming (2020)
Over acted cliché
Its a poor rendition of so many good European crime shows. The lead character is cliché, Emma Booth annoys as the scruffy long haired, beany wearing, tight clad skinny jean wearing female detective with a disfunctional relationship with her only offspring who's lacked a stable upbringing leaving her wimpy and clueless( yawn) It's pretty damn awful. The beautifully haunting scenery just accentuates the shows many flaws. Im on part three and stuggling to keep wasting precious minutes of my life enduring more hoping it will somehow improve but I'm not holding my breath.
