Day of the Dead (2021)
Not the worst thing ever
As a zombie genre fan I find this show enjoyable , but there's little similarities between this show and the zombie apocalypse universe Romero created. Far more similarities to Return Of the Living Dead. They seem to be trying to hard on the attempts at humor. Romero used satirical humor in a clever way. They do not.
Halloween Kills (2021)
They're lucky I love the franchise
This movie is a bit of mess to be honest. The characters aren't likable no matter how much they try to make them , and I think that's what they were going for. If you like the same old horror trope of characters making stupid choices that makes no sense you'll dig this. I'm aware they were trying to go for a social commentary of mob mentality backfiring but it's far too over the top.
The second escaped convict little side story was so not needed and fairly predictable once we see the mugshots of two escaped convicts.
Was there really any reason to bring Tommy Doyle and Deputy Hawkins back into this with such anticlimactic endings?
Laurie is fairly sidelined in this movie and that's not necessarily a negative because the daughter and granddaughter are pretty effective here. Michael Myers himself is solid as well.
I thought the movie was very mediocre but I'd still recommend it to people who love the franchise. I'd probably rank it 8th out of the 12 movies in the franchise.
Pros
Michael Myers is effective and menacing.
Flashback scene to the best character in the franchise imo Dr Loomis was cool.
Laurie's daughter and granddaughter are decent characters.
The unmasking was cool
Cons
Really dumb and unlikable characters.
Ineffective use of characters such as Tommy , Lindsay , and Hawkins.
The other escaped convict red herring
Predictable ending
5/10.
The Walking Dead: Here's Negan (2021)
By far the best episode of season 10
Never been the biggest Negan fan , nor am I one of those annoying Negan haters. I've been entertained by the character , and equally annoyed at how the character is written so over the top.
This episode was a well balanced Negan. I like that he was pretty much a lazy , freeloading , cheating , unemployed , immature manchild , and not portrayed as a great guy that went bad because of the apocalypse. JDM and his wife were excellent and had great chemistry in this episode.
This is still a dying show and franchise , but they did show with the right story and characters they can still pull off an occasional good episode. I'm not going to say this is among the shows best 10 episodes , or even 20. The people saying that need to pump the brakes a little imo , but still very solid.
8/10.
The Walking Dead: Diverged (2021)
Garbage juice
The last two episodes have been among the 4-5 worst in the entire show. This episode was a whole lot of nothing. Time to put this old horse down already.
