I was looking forward to this movie, expecting some cheap fun.

Instead what I was greeted with was a big budget laugh-a-minute romp that has left me grinning from ear to ear.

It reminded me of Mars Attacks, and to a lesser extent Independence Day, Airplane and 1942.

The music score that forms he backing for most of the movie is breathtakingly epic, with in-joke musical references to John Williams' Star Wars score and Wagner's Ride Of The Valkyries amongst presumably others that I didn't spot. In other places, you're faced with ultra-high-production Matrix-esque industrial music that shook the floor in my living room.

Well worth watching. I'm going to buy the BluRay. I'm still grinning.

The single most disappointingly moronic big-budget sci-fi movie since Independence Day.

I'm stunned. How do these people get jobs in the movie industry? I feel genuinely insulted by this movie.

So much money. So, SO much money. On what? There were probably 3 characters out of the 20 or so the movie focuses on that I actually gave the slightest smeg about, and that was purely because of the actors in question's previous roles prior to this movie, not because 2012 had given me any reason to like them.

So many great actors, such a feeble script.

I'm struggling to find the words. I'm simply blown away by the sheer scale of this trash movie.

The special effects are superb, don't get me wrong, but it's like a couple-of-hours-long advert for a special effects company, seemingly made in the prime vacation period for all of the good scriptwriters and directors in the world.

Insulting? Yes, insulting. It's every movie cliché you ever rolled your eyes at, tied together into a feature length bundle. I couldn't have felt less insulted if a flock of doves had appeared next to the ship at the end, carrying the dog and the Indian scientist guy to safety.

Has to be seen to be believed! How much did this cost? What's the combined national debt of Africa again?

I've got to say, I'm loving this show so far.

I've never seen a TV comedy show with this sort of sense of humour before, it reminds me, as my title suggests, of a Wes Anderson movie but with a pinch of Kevin Smith.

Imagine if "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zisou" was about a young writer-turned-unlicensed-private-detective instead of an over-the-hill documentary-maker, and throw in a scene from "Mallrats" every now and again and you get close to the feel of "Bored To Tears".

Jason Schwartzman is, IMO, the perfect choice for the lead role - he's almost reprising his "I (Heart) Huckabees" character.

Keep an eye out for little details - objects on screen, reactions of "extras", the lyrics in whatever song is playing in the background... there's alsorts of really funny things you might miss if you're only half paying attention.

I can't wait for the next episode!
