Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan (2022)
People give too much credit for this one.
People will despise you if you dislike this film. I get it. I get the point of the movie in the first place. But, at the end of the day, it's a film, and critics will always exist. Even though it is a historical film and may be meaningful to some, there will always be people who focus on the details of the film rather than just enjoying it. As for me, as a "Melayu" myself, I want this film to be as immersive as possible, especially given the historical setting. This demonstrates that Malaysian film quality lags far behind of other countries. Even if the story isn't based on genuine events, it doesn't have to be implausible just because it's historically false!
This film lacked a great deal of attention to detail. All credits only go to the cast. The cast was incredible and delivered a powerful performance in this film, but the rest was a colossal waste of potential. If the director had not found the right cast in the first place, this film would have been a flop.
The script is basic. They need to put in more effort on this front. The Malay accent is less accurate than it was in the 1980s. Consider P. Ramlee's films as an example. The fight scenes are good, but the camera work is terrible plus the sound design is overused.
This film doesn't even give me the classic 80s vibes that foreign films do. The British actors too, their acting is terrible! I cant stand it at all
The story is good; I wouldn't call it bad.
It takes the whole immersion away from this movie with the Sikhs' actors as British soldiers. It would be so great if they cast a real British actor for the soldiers, just to add more immersion to the story.
Although it is enjoyable to watch, it is not even close to being considered mastery, despite what everyone says. It does not have very much depth to it.
If this is the level of quality that local people like and get excited about, Malaysia's film industry will continue to regress.
And all the fuss and chaos from a few months ago is just too much. They give too much credit for this one. Be true to yourself. It is not Syamsul Yusof's greatest film.
Prey (2022)
actually, not bad. i enjoy it.
This one should be on your watch list too. Its not a origin as I thought, but a prequel to the first four films. I watched all of this film franchise and this one is personally the best one. Its a bit slow for the first 15 minutes, but the rest was cool. Still brutal, in a cool way. What do you think the fight is going to be? How is it to fight a highly equipped tech predator with with a human that lived in 1719 that only used a spear and bow to survive? Well.. no spoilers here but its brilliant. The fight scene was cool, the CGI was awesome, and the predator screen time was absolutely fantastic. The main character is a female protagonist and shes not bad at all, but the scripts/dialogue and interaction between the characters are weak... The predator also got nerfed in this movie. They are far superior in technology even in 1719 but I take that as they are not as superior as in the present (the rest of the four movies), so I guess thats why it seems like they got nerfed whereas they actually not (maybe). Plus, the tribe was also not weak..they were skilled at fighting and surviving. So yeah, balance..I guess???? The setting was also eye catching.. nice location and landscape. Breathaking. ..overall, its a great movie. A fresh take on the Predator franchise. Its not perfect but its not a dissapoitment to the predestor either. Well executed. I enjoy it!
Chronicle (2012)
not gonna lie, it was a great movie.
I'm honestly surprised at how I'm so hooked to the movie while watching it, which shows how well and effective it is, thanks to great acting, and the concept isn't bad either, cliché but acceptable. It's a 2012 film, and the visual effects aren't great, but they're also not terrible. As a handycam film, they attempted to portray the reality, which made it interesting and cool to watch. I enjoy it. But there are so many gaps in the storyline.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
HYPE
Whatever the fudge ur expectations are and how high it is... trust me. It outshines everything you ever think of. The trailer you've seen on YouTube showed you nothing.
Finch (2021)
EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER
A little bit boring to start, but at middle and the end made me sentimental over human and robot relationships. The emotions Tom Hanks brings are well-acted. Tough to believe that I barely cried over a robot. I love the little details of the robot that gradually develops. From voice and body language. I guess this movie is not for everyone.
Arcane: League of Legends (2021)
EXTRAORDINARY
Whacked my mind! This is outstanding! Absolutely outstanding! Astonishing art from the start to finish. Deserves a standing ovation. I can't believe what I just watched. For those non-League of Legend players, nevertheless still can deplete this phenomenal story. Whoever behind the animations are definitely made this with authentic passion. The Music, action, animation, and the origin... are flawlessly engaging man.
Fear Street: 1994 (2021)
Didn't even feel the vibe of 1994
Didn't even feel the vibe of 1994. The setting, the atmosphere. Wish i feels more like stranger things.
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf (2021)
As a non-witcher fan
5 Just for the animation, action, and art style.
Story? It was fine. The sound design was super weird and dull. Voice acting? Big fat no. Some of the characters sound like the fanmade voice. Overall as a non-witcher fan. It was entertaining to watch.
Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild (2021)
As a Monster Hunter Fan
As a Monster Hunter Fans. Everything is wrong with this movie. It's not accurate at all. It's really hard for me to watch the fight scenes. But the graphic is good. The animation is stiff and bad. Could've been an epic battle with the elder dragon. I don't get attached to the characters at all, fast-paced. The script is boring and kind of cringe.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
I love it!!!
I like the previous movies more, but this one still good and interesting. Still Terrifying to think its based on a real story in the first place. Maigod, Vera Farmiga played the role perfectly. Great acting.
Chaos Walking (2021)
It wasn't that good and it wasn't that bad
As the title say.. yes.. it was kind of boring, and slow. But still worth the watch.
