Code 8: Part II (2024)
Can someone ask Netflix to stop making movies, thanks
Netflix bought the rights to this movie, created a drama movie set in the future with few sci-fi elements. The powers look good.
The story is very meh. Girl loses brother, girl is in danger. I don't really get to know anything about these two characters during the whole movie so I don't really feel WITH their sadness? AND she is literally the main character here. The Amell brothers' roles are at best the side story. There isn't any subtance.
The script is "No. Please. No. NOOOOOO!!! RUN!!!!!!!!"-type.
My recommendation is to watch this while doing something else (sharing attention), it's not really the movie you sit down with snacks and friends.
The Meddler (2015)
Not for me
I basically picked a movie on random. Thumbnail and the small description seemed fine. Netflix describes this as drama, indie and.... COMEDY. Otherwise I would never have picked this because well I know what I dislike.
Drama genre that follows a or more persons deeply isn't really my type of genre... So for me this was as others described it "watching paint dry". Seriously, I'm sure I'm in the minority because overall it's a "well done movie" with good cast it seems.
The characters were hella unlikable to me! The only one I liked was Freddy but to be fair, that friendship was super weird. Just sooooo desperate from Marnie. A little bit :S kind of desperate.
None of Lori's friends seemed cool. None of Marnie's did either but then again I didn't like Marnie the character either lol
And what about that poor woman in the hospital?! If I couldn't talk (been there) and someone would go on and on ranting about some BS in their life... That was frustrating to watch.
How does one just join a movie by accidentally walking on the set lol? Sit and have lunch with the cast?
Lori only slept with Jacob once?! They made it sound like they were a couple.
Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story (2022)
Not very cohesive and why is it so long?
The first episode was really repetitive of details, both in visuals and whatevertheyresayingatm. The build up (first episode) is 1h20min.
However it did end a bit "quickly". Like they draw out his whole story but then just "ends". It's like they had to finish it up quickly. They needed to not draw out to make it cohesive with the rest of the segments of this movie.
Another reviewer said to skip the first episode... I slightly disagree. But the second episode would make sense to a fresh viewer still. Idk a short YT video about him? Or your favourite search engine. This first episode is really not worth it.
Homunculus (2021)
Messy, confusing, could be good if stick to the first half...
A lot of reviews here assume that the lower rating are from people who read the manga.
Well, I didn't.
First half of the movie was fine. Mystery, slow action, psychological. Guessing what the end will end up like.
And then comes the r*pe scene... It wasn't really brought up again. I lost all sympathy I had for the main character right there. Bish I don't care about finding his love (Nanako) when he literally R*PED SOMEONE 1-3 DAYS AGO. OR SAME DAY???
And then idk what happened honestly.
Nanako was very trusting of a stranger to just have lost her memory... Be careful guys wtf. He literally scared her and moments later they had sx.
Like if you have literal amnesia, all memories won't come back at once or ... at all. It's a long progress!
I'm really trying to watch non-Western media and this didn't exactly make anything easier lol! (Small joke, I'll continue trying!)
The Road to El Dorado (2000)
Altivo, the horse
The horse was the best character. Laughed multiple times, only because of Altivo.
Chel is there only because 'sexy'. I liked that the movie was childish yet not too censoring! Maybe this was more ok 20 years ago, in media... I got a bit surprised, not used to it. Should be like that nowadays too but some scenes/things they do are super unnecessary, like almost anything Chel did.
Unfortunately reminded me a lot of Atlantis in the beginning...
The Weekend Away (2022)
Unironically disliked this and continuing to dislike Netflix...
How low standards do people have, to be able to enjoy this? I don't have high standards.
This movie is so....... Obvious. Extremely predictable. Cliché upon cliché and the finale with the police lmao so ridiculous ending, banana slip. Its beyond me how anyone can enjoy this movie unironically.
Was Leighton Meeser (sorry can't remember her last name) always this bad of an actress? She can't act worried, sad or angry. Use red makeup at least?
I'm not sure how we are supposed to feel bad about Kate? All we know about her are all the negative stuff all other characters told us?
There was no "bestest best friends" chemistry between them.
Perhaps I'm both blind and deaf then as everyone else seems to unironically enjoy this movie. Maybe I'm missing something by not liking predictable movies with bad acting and cringy story.
Why was his feet dirty in the last scene? What was the thought behind it?
Jfc this movie is TERRIBLE. The camera work is recycled from 1000 other movies, the plot is horrible (+the twists), the actors are...how are they still acting. Zain wins though, beautiful blue sparkly dress and pretty location.
SHE RANTED HER PART TO THE POLICE AND THEN ASKED FOR A LAWYER. Lol. Yes, the other reviews are correct: this isn't a comedy but it's ridiculously laughable. It's not a B movie because budget and actors but without them... It wouldn't be an alphabet-movie.
Amityville Cult (2021)
Did their friends rate the movie? It isn't close to even a 3
It's a low budget movie and I don't mind watching them. There are many low budget movies that are great.
This though........ The acting isn't quite there. The effects, script etc just FEELS cheap.
Found their Facebook posts about their trailer. A few excited people. Going to guess they're the ones who rated this.
Infinite (2021)
Ok fighting scenes, don't waste your movie moment
To the reviewers requesting others to chill and "turn the brain off and go grab some popcorn": I can't.
The whole movie sums up to very dumb. The characters are over exaggerated.
The "nerd" is obnoxious, can't socialise and only cares about his interests alone and with others. Think, aspergers but x100.
Villains sidekick doesn't speak a word, "oooooh mysterious" but is badass.
The Xmen professor is wise, strong but ofc limited.
Nora, as a woman but not main character, is emotional and uses that to be badass. Typical female sidekick to the main character. Everything in this movie has been seen or heard. Extremely predictable movie.
The acting is over the top and screams fake. It's not convincing. Other than the villain. Also, he jumped like 2,5m and started running...
Favourite dialogue:
"I'm hit!!"
"Are you alright?"
The Tomorrow War (2021)
USA military cult?
What is it with the US and their love for military? No wonder they're so brainwashed with loving their military and "dying for their country" when movies are bombarded with the propaganda.
Its such a boring movie therefore. I don't understand how they can brainwash them so hard. Like its CRINGE watching those scenes. Its not fun watching someone say "time to serve your country" like no let them decide themselves if they want to die.
Btw, apparently that's Chris Pratt...
Deja Vu (2006)
One BIG explosion on a ferry and one part of the police only focus on ONE victim .. bruh what
I hope this selfish act isn't possible in real life.
That destroyed my interest for this movie, where tf is the empathy for EVERYONE WHO DIED ON THE FERRY. WHY ARE YOU FOCUSING ON ONE GOOD LOOKING VICTIM.
And the tech omg, they have some data and can create a whole video scene??? It's absurd, who came up with this. It's TOO FAR FETCHED. Even in 2006... It's almost sound impossible, maybe possible in 2050+...
They can ROTATE the video scene too!
AND THEY ARE WATCHING THE NAKED WOMAN SHOWERING. WTF.
How the f was this movie good even in 2006? Okay, I get it, Denzel yummy yum (is what people thought) but come on...
Last and First Men (2020)
I expected a movie...
Just compare the amount of 1 star reviews (as of now 23) to 10 star reviews (as of now 12)... People rating this anything above 3 must have really boring lives.
It's not a movie! It's an audiobook with almost identical pictures showing!
It' extremely boring. Sure, I watch Youtube true crime - it's basically the same BUT this is soooooo slow and soooooo boring.
The 10 star reviews tells you to not listen to us, well let me tell you, dont listen to them. You are commenting on a MOVIE. Now, this isn't it so why rate it 10 star.
The Flight Attendant (2020)
Simple (but good) comedy, some twists that do work, +reality added, a simple "normal" civilian can't fight
I do not care who the main actors are, this is unbiased.
Around episode 3-4 I was kinda skeptic to continue watching. It was the alcohol and the "just tell them that you're involved with police+lawyer"-issue-lying.
But..... When almost every episode ends with a cliff hanger lol, it's hard to stop!
And I'm glad I didn't stop! It was a really good short show, I'm seeing season 2? Not needed imo. I guess it's the follow up on the character that escaped?
And boi, the actor playing Buckley is hot af. I would totally run away if an equal hot person asked it.
A lot of good comedy too.
I can relate to the main character's issue with alcohol, I didn't have it .. exactly. But yeah, I can relate. The lying to oneself and others. It's hard to let go sometimes. You can do anything, as the outro song is.
Parallel (2018)
Gets stars for good quality
Bad acting. Boring plot. Extremely bad at trying comedy (like outdated "jokes").
I can't speak for the whole movie, I only bothered to watch an hour before I quit. It's boring af.
Bunch of friends having a business idea? Finds a portal to mirror worlds and does stuff there..? To develop their business idea I suppose? Nah, I ain't watching that.
Could have been much more with another plot. Disappointing.
I thought I could have it as background noise at least but no.
An American Pickle (2020)
It made me laugh several times but it's an ok movie
If you got nothing better to do and want to watch something light hearted, also funny, stuff this is the movie for you. As it was for me.
It's unrealistic at many times but it also leads to funny stuff.
Seems like I'm in the miniority and actually enjoyed this movie... The religious stuff I did not like.
Bloodline (2018)
Such a bad movie
Ugh, this took energy to watch. The acting was terrible in the beginning.
Mr C has childhood "trauma" and kills people that treats his students bad. Because Mr C's dad used to abuse him. His mother killed his dad. His mother is insane.
His wife becomes skeptical when a detective visits their house. I wouldn't call the wife stable but that's probably why Mr C chose her as wife. Poor Andrew.
The Dead Center (2018)
Slow, a little bit boring but I guess still okay
Actors did fine, everything was fine.
I did not like the plot, at the beginning sure... But then we have this medical examinor who does police work on the side ??? the dead body he was supposed to examine was in fact alive so... His part would have end there in reality? He would not follow the clues to this man..? OR ENTER HIS HOUSE ALONE?! Not even knock on the door!
Then we have this dude on the psych ward, the doctor. Pretty incompetent imo. He also enters the house alone without calling the cops or anything haha. Idiot.
Criminal (2016)
Reviews are lacking
I honestly don't understand why reviewers scores are lower than 8.
Criminal is an action packed movie! So much action! Sure the bond to the child in the end is a bit cringy but other than that it's a really good movie.
I don't have a partner right now, but you can watch it with a partner/friend/mother/whatever. Or alone as I did.
What Happened to Monday (2017)
So low rating? Wow.
I love this movie. I just do. If you got nothing else to do, watch it. If you want to watch a movie with your partner, watch it.
It's about 7 siblings, in a world where siblings aren't allowed. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They each get to go out on their name's day. They take on ONE identity when they're outside.
It's an awesome movie. Typical Hollywood action and it's just great. The first review displayed on the main side is just so... Critical. Does everyone watch movies by being SO critical? Relax. The movie isn't a comedy movie, why do you expect humour...
It's an action/fantasy(/sci-fi, depends which one of them you use) and it's legit one of the best movies I've seen.
Noomi Rapace is Queen, as they say nowadays.
Blindspot: Hella Duplicitous (2018)
Should have ended with season 3.
It should have ended with season 3. Everyone involved in Sandstorm died or got locked in. This episode was hella confusing! So basically their point with this season is, Jane is now Remi again... Nah, this season doesn't look promising at all. I'm done.
Aladdin (2019)
9.5/10 PLEASE don't compare it to the original!
I do not remember much of the original (same goes for the Lion King and still I have seen both and grown up with them?).
I basically went into the cinema completely blind to the plot. I knew it.. Ish.
This movie has it all. The colours make you stay! They make your brain stay active. And I love it!
I'm not that much for Bollywood films but my mum gladly compared it to those, it had the vibe, so to speak.
Please watch it, you'll have an amazing time (if you like cute animals, colours). I couldn't stop smile during the entire movie, haha.
It's not something I will watch again in some year/s but damn it was good.
Lost in Space (2018)
Rule: Believe everything you hear
Wow. Didn't expect bad reviews this much. Sure, I understand all the points made but it was fun for a while to watch something that isn't 100% for adults.
The points I understand:
I HATE the mother (Maureen). She is in charge of almost everything but she doesn't have the control of emotions or other people's emotions. Also, she is easily manipulated by Dr. Smith.
Maybe tell the kids more about dangerous stuff.... Don't go in the garage BECAUSE??? SO WILL THE STUPID REBEL KID DOESN'T GO THERE?
Judy looks and behaves like a 12 year old. Penny has had her first teen love but nope no kiss between Judy and Don!
Penny is cool and all but I didn't expect her to be the book nerd. She doesn't behave like one since the show is built on stereotypes.
I like seeing an adopted kid.
Will is such a stupid kid, I'm sorry. Rebel-stupid.
Searching (2018)
Watch this with someone you love!
It's not easy to make a movie from current time we are in, using computer programs and the Internet as the view.
So yes, the movie is a lot about Apple, haha.
Pros:
*I liked it. I didn't know it would be sooo sad, I wouldn't have watched in if I knew. I, myself, have child-parent-trauma going on in my life. Damn, I almost cried.
*Cool view. By screens!
*I think it was realistic.
Cons:
*To be honest.... The dad did the investigation so much better than anyone else. It felt like detective Vick was the only one working on the case. Being "old" (I know, he isn't that old but for a teen he is, since he is a noob on tech stuff problaby) isn't easy but like... The police had her hard drive.
Watch this with one you love, I wish I did. It brings more meaning.
Our House (2018)
Don't waste your time!
HOW does this so high in rating? In my opinion, the high reviews seems bought. Because the scare level is 1,5.
The ghostly stuff (added effects) is a 0.
The music is a 7.
The acting is a 3.
I just don't understand.
The plot is very unbelievable.
10 min in to the movie, a tragic accident happens. With 0 character development, I feel sorry for no one.
It felt like "Hmm, we need something to happen in the movie so we can continue it."
1 adult, 1 teen and 1 kid believes that mommy and daddy are there in presence.
The twist at the end with the neighbor seems sooo rushed.
