Bridgerton (2020– )

A masquerade!
9 March 2024
I've just finished Borgia, The Showtime production and it was so satisfying to watch, yeah they took a lot of liberties, it wasn't accurate but still you could immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the time. I'm watching rn Shogun not historically correct but following a legend character which opened the eyes of the viewers to a special time in the Japan history, a window to a culture with such authentic soul.

And then Bridgerton, oh God, it's a preposterous representation of an European culture viewed through the eyes of Americans. As all too americanized productions Bridgerton could be very well categorized as a total circus! Flashy but with no trace of authentic feeling, an impotent understanding of Europeans. Just sick of it!

The Borgias (2011–2013)

Masterpiece!
8 March 2024
A masterpiece! I don't look for accuracy especially in a artistic movie. It's not a documentary for god sake. The atmosphere was perfectly depicted. The characters were so well portrayed according with the stories. Cezare as the providential prince representing the interest of Vatican but also the demon bringing death wherever he passes. Lucretia as an very intelligent woman but still not being able to control her destiny. There were times when women were just mere pawns. Machiavelli was so very interesting pointed etc The acting was very good. The script is fluid. I have watched this movie after one decade and I still vote it to be nominated for some awards. My only regret is that Borgia serie wasn't finished.

Good fun watching this series
16 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Yeah, it has all ingredients for a spy movie. The rhythm of the action sequences is intense and fast. The twist of plot is quite engaging and interesting in its development. But the movie isn't single out for these futures, it matters more the good humor, language and crazy situations, all of these keeps you laughing until the last episodes when the things really messing up.

It's impossible to not empathize with the main character, a goofy but very intelligent lawyer who manages to solve a lot of issues but in same time to involve in a international tricky business way above his normal preparation.

Anyway good fun I hope I will see this movie continuing because it really deserves a few more seasons.

Last Kingdom one of the best series in the market
14 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Seven kings must die" was in the line with "Last kingdom", excellent played, the script of the movie is a little bit ahead of the books series but I didn't mind it, I expected it since they used this version. History was as accurate as can be represented in a movie of any kind of artistic act. Bernard Cornwall is your turn, waiting your final book. Thank you for this beautiful journey, fantasizing with one of my favorites heroes, Uhtred. For the fans of Last Kingdom series I highly recommend to take your time to read the books, the personages are much more in depth depicted there, and trust me you will love it.

Rise of Empires: Ottoman (2020–2022)

The idyllic representation of Empires should stop
29 December 2022
I think the idyllic representation of Ottomans should stop. It's nothing glorious in Empires! If only we're thinking how the janissaries were formed, and you'll understand the sickening aspects of Empires oppression. The "heroic" janissaries were ruthless soldiers, because they were raised from childhood in a draconian structure, grabbed from the parents arms, usually coming from the Balkan countries as a direct tribute for the Empire, thrown in a foreign lands, forced to adopt other religion than their own religion. The irony is janissary could end up fighting against his own parents lands. But I still appreciate the producer tried with certain accuracy to take in consideration historical data .
