Sex Education: Episode 8 (2021)
Quite disappointing and repetitive
So we ended season 2 with Eric and Rahim splitting up because Eric realized he loved Adam more and Otis acts like a complete idiot but then makes up with his mum and everyone else but he still doesn't end up together with Maeve. Fast forward 8 episodes and Eric has broken up again but this time with Adam because he realizes that this isn't what he wants, and Otis yet again acted like an ignorant and selfish idiot but then makes up with his mum again and then makes up with Maeve but they aren't together again.
See what I meant by repetitive here? Because it's back to where we were at the start of the season which is quite annoying
The ending was quite rushed as Maeve makes the decision to leave without consulting Otis and Otis doesn't make a plea for her to stay and it ends as if everything is fine.
Lily re-discovering her interest into her alien fantasies was also rushed and had zero development at all as she also just happens to like what she does after she is asked for one autograph after being tormented and bullied for it by the rest of the school?
This season also failed to give any direction to Ruby's relationship with Otis or Isaac's relationship with Maeve. Both of these end abruptly and then these characters are sidelined without any development as to what happens next for them or if they still have feelings for their counter-parts which is quite disappointing
Overall the finale failed to conclude some crucial storylines, and rushed the things it did without much elaboration which is quite a shame as the show did really well in it's first two seasons.
Doom Patrol: Wax Patrol (2020)
Good but not great
This episode felt more like the penultimate episode rather then a season finale. But I cannot blame the showrunners as it was intended as the second last episode but due to COVID-19 it became the finale.
This episode focused more on the everyone's own problems rather then facing The Candlemaker (although it did tease the final fight right at the end), the main villain of the season, which is why it felt weak as a season finale. Although we did get a good backstory to Miranda, and the origin to Jane which was the best part of the episode.
The ending of the epsiode doesn't feel like we are left with a cliffhanger but rather a lot of unresolved plot-lines which is quite bothering to the audience i.e.
Cyborg and Ronnie
Cliff and Clara
Niles disease
Dorothy vs Candlemaker
So if I am going to give this episode a rating it would be in two categories
1.) As a season finale = 8/10
2.) As a normal episode = 9.5/10
Doom Patrol: Dad Patrol (2020)
The calm before the storm!
This episode dealt with the emotional attachment of Niles to Dorothy. It really described that how tough it is for a father to let his daughter go. His character development has been the best of them all so far.
In side plots, we see Cliff finally reconciling with his daughter, Cyborg's girlfriend trouble and the most intriguing one b/w Jane and Miranda. We do get to see that Miranda is planning something big for all the personas.
Next week is the season finale and I'm not sure how they'll wrap up all the storylines but I hope they do it properly!
Doom Patrol: Finger Patrol (2020)
Best episode yet!
After the first 4 episodes who were more based on character development and dealing with the trauma that Dr. Niles endured on them, we finally got to see some action today.
The last 10 mins of the episode had some shocking twists in them and I can't wait to see the reaction of the team in the next episode
Supergirl: Immortal Kombat (2020)
Good Ending but not a Great One
This isn't the Supergirl Show anymore, it's the Lex Luthor Show!
Leviathan was built up as dangerous and a formidable opponent at the end of Season 4 but this season really hasn't showed much of them at all, especially after Crisis. It's all been about how Lex rose to power and how he is continuing to gain power.
Leviathan has just been established as a pawn in Lex's game which is quite disappointing. I really don't understand how Jemma even trusted Lex in the first place (yes I know he played her by faking his care for them but don't they really know Lex's intentions since they are supposed to be Immortal Gods).
Also I understand how Supergirl's speech influenced the people to leave the Unity Festival (which was a great speech) but what I don't get is how all of them chose to leave it. I mean there would at least be some people who would have considered to stay.
Eve Tessmacher character was also ruined this season revealing that she only joined Leviathan because they threatened here mother (that could have been done better).
However, I did like Lena and Supegirl reconciling in this episode, it added depth to both their character's development and you could feel the chemistry between them.
The Flash: Success Is Assured (2020)
Not feeling it.
I'm reviewing this episode like any other episode but not as a season finale (as it wasn't intended as that originally)
This episode was the better then the last few ones but still not there yet. I really enjoyed the fight sequence between Black Hole and Team Flash, and the conflict in Barry but other then that the episode wasn't that special.
Those Caitlyn/Frost scenes are really quite unnecessary considering they have nothing to do with the storyline. They really could've replaced those scenes with Cisco's travels to Atlantis because that is something the fans would really enjoy (because we have seen so little of him this season).
The Sue character isn't developed as it should be. Her change of heart to join Ralph in fighting black hole is not convincing enough, because Ralph's speech apparently didn't convince her to stop, so her returning was basically out of character.
I don't understand how much speed, Barry has left? A while ago we were told that he only has a short supply and with that he ran half the city against Godspeed, fought against Mirror Iris and fought Rag Doll but still he isn't drained off his speed yet.
Team Flash isn't working either for me. They have expanded it so much aa there are about 10-20 members which will definitely create plot-holes i.e. where has Chester been since the Grodd Episode? He supposedly joined Team Flash but is nowhere to been seen.
This season was just poorly executed. Hopefully Season 7 will not repeat the same mistakes
The Flash: Liberation (2020)
REALLY???
This show used to be so great but now it just isn't really enjoyable anymore. The whole plot doesn't make any sense.
How could Eva even leave the picture of mirror Iris on the Citizens server. I mean you are supposed to be the main villain of this season and you leave loose ends so obvious?
How does Chief of Police have excess to A.R.G.U.S.?? The last I remember was that it was supposed to be a top secret facility, not accessible by the police. Also why didn't any guards arrive to Bloodwork's Chamber when the alarms went off?? This is a top secret facility and the security measures are ludicrous!
Then we have the side-plot of Caitlyn that has nothing to do with the storyline. I mean Team Flash isn't even on the same page anymore. Since the last two episodes Cisco and Ralph have been doing there own thing, while Barry with absolutely no speed is trying to save the day. I mean this is the time where Barry needs them the most and they aren't even near him.
This Season 6B is no where near to the Flash's standard. I hope this nonsense ends soon!!!!
Better Call Saul: Something Unforgivable (2020)
It's all coming together!
Season 5 of Better Call Saul is undoubtedly the best one yet.
The last few episodes started putting all pieces of the puzzle together. The main question that arose when BCS started was: What would happen to Kim and Nacho? Today this aspect became a little more clearer.
We can see Kim likes the dangerous act as she plots to humiliate Howard, which Jimmy oversees as a joke but she looks serious. This maybe her undoing but we'll have to wait and see.
As for Nacho, the rather unlucky one, he flew too close to the sun. He wanted out ever since his father got involved but he was the "middle man" and once you're in the game there is no out! The moment he met with Don Eladio, I had a feeling that it would be near impossible to escape this situation, and then when Lalo survived the attack from Gus's men, you knew Nacho was doomed. S6 will decide his fate now, which we all know what it will be (I was hoping he would maybe survive with the help of Ed Galbraith A.K.A Vaccum Cleaner Guy, but this seems highly unlikely now).
A special shout-out to Tony Dalton for his exceptional portrayal of Eduardo "Lalo" Salamanca. His performance really spiced up the last few episodes of the season.
Can't wait for what the masterminds, Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould have in store for the final season!
