King Kong (1933)
Revolutionary
This film has been seen by many yet equally have not.
This film is revolutionary and due to that it has rightfully earned its name as one of the best films of all time . From a technical stand point this changed the film industry.
1933 can still be considered as a relatively new introduction to sound in film and also can be considered one of the first films with an OST. The sound design for King Kong's roar was made in a unique way that sounds simple but with further thought shows the creativity of those in the film industry at that time. Creating the foundation of what we use today.
Also to be mentioned Willis O'Brien's work on kong and the other dinosaurs' animation, it took effort and dedication, as it takes 1,440 frames to create just one minute of stop motion footage, it shows with mass amounts of detail in each action, really emphasising the technical achievement within the film industry.
As well as all this the story of King Kong is well
made and thought out creating allowing for an impactful ending that no film to this day can replicate.
If you haven't seen it. Make it the next film you see. the influence it has had on filmmakers and those who create special effects.
Le manoir du diable (1896)
Film history in three minutes
This film is known to be the first of the horror genre and because of that there are no high expectations when it comes to being scared. However one plus can be given to the special effects used, It shows quick progress within film since the first movie ever made was only filmed 9 years prior to this. There are minor mistakes but that is to be expected. With only a three minute run length it is something that needs to be watched
Busanhaeng (2016)
Best zombie film around
Honestly, When I first bought this film the only thing I knew about it was that it was a zombie film.
But watching this film without having much prior knowledge about it creates a better viewing experience.
This film is perfectly filmed in regards of setting. Referring to the train. It allows for a realistic sense of claustrophobia making scenes that much more suspenseful. Nowadays it feels like there is no originality within films however this film is different from the rest.
It nails all aspects of what a good film should be. The incredible story allows for a simplistic but powerful ending. The acting should be mentioned as a big plus, with all actors providing an outstanding performance which gives the story a sense of verisimilitude.
This film is a perfect example of what horror should be.
