The King of Pigs (2022)
Very good story, but awful acting and writing for the most part
Seriously I don't know what others are watching. I can only assume the writers didn't create a storyboard to follow, as it's often non-sensical. Here's just two examples:
1. Killer gets huge bag of cash, but they decide to check if he bought a large amount of fuel (surely that would be card only). He has, so they know where to look!
2. Here's the 31 classmates. Find where they live and interview them. Killer seen in an area - "Go check all of the 1000 residents of this area to see who he was visiting." Rather than the 31 you've already checked on, where one of them happens to live?
Then there's the male lead detective who is asked numerous questions, only to look dark and moody and not talk for 20 seconds or so, often finishing with a "Aissshhh!"
The kids definitely out-act the adults in this, with almost all being very, very good (the killer himself is also very good). The rest? No, just poor acting chops almost all round.
It has its entertaining moments, has a great, dark underlying story arc, and has good ideas. It's just the execution that's lacking for me. Comes across as dumb in far too many places. If Korean cops are this slow and dumb, how do they ever catch criminals?
Go and watch Signal from a few years back, if you haven't already. This is just not in the same league.
