Without Charm, Wit or Humour.
16 January 2019
A re-imagining lacking in style, flavour or a coherent plot. Character motivation is vague and nonsensical. An excellent cast is underutilized. The first Ghostbusters was both a comedy and a horror film. This version is neither.

A darker adventure for Indy but still a thrill ride.

An indication of the personal termoil that Spielberg and Lucas were experiencing at the time, this is a darker, more ominous installment in the franchise although still a rip roaring adventure despite some of the political incorrectness that often dates older films. Not as charming as the original but a solid action adventure movie which stands on its own.

Disappointing for fans, pretty average otherwise.

None of the whimsy and genuine swashbuckling adventure of the original trilogy. A tired, weary almost bumbling Indy is not good for fans. If the addition of Shia was supposed to inject youthful vigor into the franchise, it did not. If your not a fan, then its a tepid adventure movie with some average sometime laughable special effects, a cast with little chemistry and a supposed twist ending which leaves you wanting less.

In a league of its own!

In a market saturated with weak re-treads and trope filled grabage playing it safe for the masses, this show dares to challenge its audience.

Daring, controversial, crass and often offensive this show is also smart, topical and above all else, really funny!

An amazing show! Not to be missed!

It is the best animated adult comedy on television. It stands head and shoulders above any of its closest contenders. Smart, irreverent, funny, crass and loaded with underlying subtext. There is a level of commentary on society, pop culture, the media, the entertainment industry and politics that is unparalleled. Its also just plain fun! Not for the conservative, religious or deniers of science, logic and reason, but for everyone else, a must see animated triumph.

Not standard trek fare but thats a good thing!

Whenever fandoms hold onto the old ideas of what they like they revolt at inevitable change. The show is adult, has darker themes and motivations and is not the Pollyanna of space that Gene Roddenberry first put out.

Star Trek TNG was enimic, boring and lacking in real issues which is what the OS took real chances with in the 60s.

This show at least treads new ground, new themes and looks great.

Limping to the finish line

Although there was potential and they had hit their stride by season 3 the show decended into an over-confident smugness trading quirky humor for cheap shots and put-downs which became the tone of the show for the remainder of its run. Just because something is popular does not mean its actually good. Shows that employ laugh tracks should be put to pasture.

A worthwhile effort finding its feet

Promoted as if it were in the realm of Event Horizon sci-fi horror fans will be disappointed. Despite too many sub plots and introducing to many elements there are some good sci-fi elements here and a couple of great performances that rise above the tropes and some times not so great performances. If they streamline and cut out the dead wood they could have something good.

An ironic look at a bygone era with irreverence and heart.
19 December 2018
Bill Burr does an amazing job at capturing the nuclear family of a bygone age that is both ironic but also rings true. Successfully walks the tight rope of being nostalgic while still being pertinent. One of best animated adult comedies in an over-saturated market, this one rises to the top.

A Brooding Noir Cold War Allegory Not To Be Missed.
19 December 2018
Great cast, intelligent writing and a power-house performance from JK Simmons. Well paced tension, drama and suspence with enough humor and heart to balance a dark brooding cold war allegory with a science fiction twist.

Solid cast with smart writing. A show that deals with pertinent issues without beating them death. Good balance of humor, drama and action. This show should be on everyone's watch list.
