Ahsoka (2023)
If you're a fan of rebels then you'll love Ahsoka
There is so much to love about this series. There are countless references to clone wars, rebels and the prequels. It's awesome to see the animated characters come to life. The first couple episodes are character building but now after the fourth episode I am certain this will go down as the second best season of Star Wars after Mandalorian Season 2. I really am hoping they introduce the Vong in the series but I don't think they have the writers to pull that off. Would love to see it attempted though. I can tell the season is building up to something big at the end considering they are basing the season traveling to another galaxy. This is a must watch!
Succession: With Open Eyes (2023)
This was a flop horrible way to end such a good show
The last season was literally Shiv flip flopping every other episode to other sides. I was absolutely expecting her to change sides again. This is one of the worst endings of a good show that I have seen in a long time. It was so bad that it didn't make any relationship in the show seem realistic. I don't get how at one moment they're like I love you then do something to destroy their career the next episode then do it all over again multiple times in a season. Honestly the first three seasons should have been enough and the fourth wasn't really required as it got so lame in the last season. Definitely feel like I wasted some time towards the end hoping for an epic finale just to get that garbage.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: The Outpost (2023)
The best Bad Batch episode to date
This episode was fantastic and might be one of the best pieces of Star Wars content made in a long long time. I love the arc Crosshair is on. We are really seeing the Crosshair that was deep down past the chip. He's really coming back as an anti-hero and showing his true colors. Crosshair was always the character with the most depth in Bad Batch and I'm happy this episode was focused on his humanity. This episode had it all, great action, amazing writing, dangerous beasts, adventure, comradery, danger and this felt like there was actually something on the line for the characters. If the season keeps going like the last two episodes this season has a chance to completely redeem itself.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
I am pleasantly surprised
I will annoy many fan boys with this but I truly believe this shouldn't get the hate that it does. The show is actually a very good addition to the world of lord of the rings. I believe most of the negativity strains from some of the missteps the shows creators had pre-release so the negative reviewers are being very biased. I have read the books and watched the movies countless times. I must say this show has very high potential. I would watch a couple episodes without any expectations and see how you like it. You might be pleasantly surprised like me. I have been looking forward to this series for a long time and I am glad it is somewhat living up to what I was hoping for in this show.
The Orville: Domino (2022)
The greatest sci-fi TV show episode ever made
I will go out on a limb and say this is a top 5 episode of ANY show I've ever seen. It should have been the finale tbh. This show should receive countless Emmys this year even if it is a sci-fi show. It has surpassed Star Trek as the greatest sci-fi TV show of all time in my opinion. It's even better than the Mandalorian and I absolutely love that show. It would be criminal for this show to not have another season!
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part VI (2022)
Definitely some holes but people will never be pleased
This was a great episode. People who say otherwise are entitled to their opinion but the writers are flawed just like every person in these reviews are flawed. The reviewers want perfection even though they themselves cannot achieve perfection. The finale delivered on the Obi-Wan/Vader conflict everyone wanted. Ultimately, fans wanted a longer season which I believe is what made everyone so upset. Saying this was the worst TV show in history is laughably biased. They have a great baseline for a season 2 and I GUARANTEE all the people upset at this season will watch EVERY episode of next season. It's obvious at this point.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part IV (2022)
It seems people are focusing on things they don't like
There are a lot of reasons why people are getting upset. Some don't like Reva, some don't like women being on screen, some want the episodes to be longer, some have pent up demands that have built over 20 years and some want more Vader/Obi Wan conflict. Regardless, this episode is being judged too harshly. In general, there are plot holes no question but this episode had fewer plot holes, more action, Obi Wan using his lightsaber and other really interesting aspects that should give it at least a solid 8.
Halo (2022)
I really wanted to like it
Updated to include season 2: man, they are pandering quite a bit in the second season. Man gets hurt, woman takes his place, man gets killed, woman survives horrible injury trying to save man who died. Kwan changed master chief not the other way around according to dialogue. Master Chief needs to be saved multiple times by you guessed it a woman. They're not making it realistic and making Master Chief look weak half the time with these overly strong female characters. A couple makes sense because that's statistically accurate but for every woman to be dominant and most of the men weaker is just dumb. Even the pirate king who is supposed to be this crazy leader is just bossed around and demeaned by his wife every other sentence haha. They need to stop doing that because it makes the show unbelievable and boring.
I have played the games more than I'd like to admit and I was really excited about this. First off, why change master chief's voice? Doesn't make sense and it almost immediately turned me off the show. Imagine you're watching Star Wars and Darth Vaders voice is different. I couldn't focus on the show.
SPOILERS: Second, why only have Elites come to fight a small group of rebels? This would been a perfect time to throw in some Grunts that say hilarious things to breakup the fighting scenes and give the rebels some wins so the fight wasn't so one sided.
Third, the CGI for the Elites was awful. Their bodies were completely wrong and they had stubby trex arms compared to the games where they are slimmer more athletic looking with smaller heads. They really made the Elites look weird.
Fourthly, the dialogue is weird and casting was really bad. I hope they can turn it around but I'm not hopeful.
Dune (2021)
2.5 hours yet very little was established
Watched the original Dune and the fact this was the best they could do with 40 years is disappointing. There's no way this is a 8.3 rating...it'll dive once it's out of theaters. Very concerned with Hollywoods fixation of remaking or adding prequels to iconic films and doing them a disservice. I was really looking forward to this and wanted to love it but it just never happened.
Jellystone (2021)
This is as funny to this generation as the originals were to the previous generations
Funny, mostly wholesome content that gets the laughs without the violence and crudeness. I love those types of shows but it takes a legendary show to be able to pull this off with such innocent humor. This gives me Spongebob vibes mixed with Adventure Time with the original Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters.
This is the best cartoon show to come out in a long time. This one is here to stay for as long as they keep the quality up with this season. Makes it worth keeping HBO Max.
Mr. Iglesias (2019)
Needs some work but a great series
Had to make a profile after using this platform for 15 years to comment on the show. I could see this being a very good sitcom. I agree with the laugh track. Gabriel Iglesias is funny so we don't need to be reminded when we should be laughing. Other than that, I hope this show goes on for a long time. One of my favorite Netflix comedies to date!
