The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself (2022)
A devil!shly delightful time, but like a witch without enough potion, it leaves you wanting more.
"The Bast*rd-Son & The Devil Himself" is a decent series, and in its best moments, it provides a devil!shly entertaining viewing experience, thank God it doesn't take itself too seriously. The cast consists of charming and talented actors who give their best on screen. With a dash of party ambiance, the series transitions seamlessly between different sets, and the special effects are reasonably well-executed. However, there are occasional hiccups in the camera work that mar some of the stronger scenes.
While the story is captivating, it can feel rushed at times, leaving one yearning for more character development and plot depth. It's almost as if the creators of the series tried to squeeze a devil's share of drama into a shorter show. Given the potential of the plot and characters, it's clear that there's room for expansion and further narrative development.
In the end, "The Bast*rd-Son & The Devil Himself" offers us a devil!shly delightful time, but like a witch without enough potion, it leaves you wanting more. A sequel or extension of the story would be desirable, with a bit more time, risk, and excess.
*Holy bible, interestingly, IMDb wouldn't publish my review due to two words in the title. Can you guess which ones? :D.
Ragnarok (2020)
One of the best fantasy series, with one of the worst endings
I was pleasantly surprised by how such a small country could produce such a high-quality series, featuring outstanding actors and skillfully developing the characters, all within a captivating atmosphere.
At times, I would have rated the series 9 to 10 out of 10. It's unfortunate how pivotal the ending can be in a storyline, and many series falter in this aspect. However, here, it's more disappointing than in most other cases. The poor ending, stretched out and accompanied by bad pop music, follows the trend we've come to expect from Marvel. Nonetheless, this series managed to distinguish itself quite remarkably from the typical Marvel productions, right up to the very last episode.
But at the end it is just one of the best fantasy series, with one of the worst endings. The ending is droned down like a picture book, crowned with bad pop music, and completely devoid of tension or surprises.
Since all the previous episodes were good, I see the creators as having a duty to shoot a final season and only leave the last episode of this series online as a warning about how bad an ending can be.
