Sadly wasted potential
24 April 2024
I really wanted to like it, as I enjoyed most of the ladies before in iconic roles, especially Morgan Fairchild and Nicolette Sheridan. But this flick suffers from very lame writing, and characters that miss the fire we know from earlier roles. It is like a weak rip-off of THESE OLD BROADS with Joan Collins and Debbie Reynolds, which wasn't perfect but much much better. DIVAS CHRISTMAS has some fun moments and it's nice to see these icons together, but I was hoping for more pizzaz. And, as other reviewers mentioned, the love story of the younger characters is especially weak, and their acting is bad.

Weren't Fitz & Mac the most annoying characters ?
13 November 2023
Just been rewatching the series, which I really still like. But this time I felt it even stronger, self-righteous Mac & erratic Fitz are so annoying. The ladies were mostly the best characters, Quake, Gemma, Melinda. Most of the storylines were interesting, though sometimes stretched a little too long, like the never-ending stories about Ward. Lots of fantastic guest actors like Kyle MacLachlan as delightfully manic Dad, Jason O'Mara as the new director, Joel Stoffer as Enoch, and lots more. My favourite stories were DARKHOLD/GHOSTRIDER, LADY SIF, THE TIME JUMPS & DEKE (The Fitz/Simmons son). And I'm still saddened that Quake never crossed over into the MCU.

Epic season Finale
6 October 2023
A fantastic end of a good season. All storylines came to an end, and new seeds were planted for the future. A lot of magic, which I always like. And each of the main protagonists got to play his part. The kids proved that they are worthy of the powers they got to wield. The acting was good. The visuals were excellent. The town where it happened reminded me a bit of another great fantasy epos. For a moment I thought Daenerys could fly above it all on one of her babys.

I don't know if the book readers will approve, and I don't care. TV and books are totally different and need different storytelling. This series was getting more & more interesting. As a fan of high fantasy I really love it.

Ragnarok: Ragnarok (2023)
Season 3, Episode 6

I get why a lot of folks dislike it, but....
13 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Unlike THE ALMIGHTY JOHNSONS, which I loved by the way, this series, in the end, doesn't follow the same premise. There it was all real, which was fascinating, here it is a kind of psychosis.

That doesn't take away anything from the story that unfolded over three seasons. The acting was great, the stories were well written, the take on the mythological backstory was interesting.

Is it really such a bad thing that Ragnarok did not actually happen ? We saw it, they killed each other, and the blending with the real life situation was great television, in my opinion. And the signs that it was just in hismind were subtle in the beginning and getting stronger in the last season.

I'm a big fantasy fan, and it was fantasy in the end.

Crowe was good, I still was team Asmodeus
15 August 2023
The movie was entertaining. I have not seen an Exorcist movie in a very long time. Russell Crowe gave a strong performance, the rest of the cast was mostly weak in comparison.

While this movie isn't a masterpiece, it was way better than most of the horror flics I saw in the last couple of years. I liked the staging.

But I really would have fancied Asmodeus entering the vatican and wreaking havoc among that corrupt and evil catholic pack, but I understand that the exorcist needed to win the battle. But you can dream..... The most disturbing thing though was the fact that this guy really existed. I can imagine how many poor mentally ill people he must have tortured with exorcism rituals that only needed psychiatric help.

Very authentic & touching
8 August 2023
This little series that I had just discovered, is a perfect example of bringing the gender theme to the people without being woke at all. It just is this person with his story, his problems and family. All the actors did a great job bringing their characters alive. But Elz Carrad gave a stand-out performance, which I'm sure was partly derived from his own life story. But the way he displayed the roller coaster of emotions was very touching. And Arlo Green as his ex-boyfriend also gave the perfect performance of a "straight" guy that has a wider spectrum than he is willing to admit. Very realistic, from my own experiences. I was also pleased that they didn't show a queer bashing scene. Just like Schitt's Creek they delved into character development more istead of violence.

I'm already looking forward to season 2.

very mixed bag
28 July 2023
The magical fight scenes were fantastic, I was really entertained by these sequences. There was a lot going on, a lot of casualties. But as we all know from legions of horror movies, never split the team. And THAT was all that happened. "Leave it to me" was the dumb motto in every second scene. So the seriousness of what was at stake was waning. I really don't like it when experienced characters do stupid things. And then there was a Witcher somewhere on the sidelines of this episode. Are they trying to put him more & more aside, because the actor is leaving the show ?

Personally I find other characters more interesting than the Witcher himself, but since the series is named after him, a little more to do would be fitting.

Another excellent episode
22 July 2023
Many of us weren't sure if the reboot could work. We all needed to adjust, the fans, the actresses, the writers. But I feel like it clicked this season. I'm really enjoying the stories and developments, the diversity, and the realness of the older versions of the gang we loved back then. We have grown older too. And just like in Sex & The City back then, I find parts of my life displayed in the series. That was what made it special when it started, and the vibe is different but it's there. Cynthia Nixon did a good job directing this episode, and she also gave a great performance. I'm looking forward to more episodes and hopefully more seasons.

Quite Entertaining ! Just ignore the usual "Lore Whining"
22 July 2023
It was an interesting story with a variety of interesting monsters, and good voice acting. It's the entertainment value that counts, NOT the lore, the books, the game. Filmmakers want to create their own visions and don't have to retell everything from some source material. Marvel and DC also present many different variations and the viewers like it, and don't care what was written in the comics back then. The main witcher character was even more entertaining than Geralt. His personality was more likeable than the always moody and grumpy one. But... to each his own. I enjoyed it, just like Blood Origins.

Excellent episode, ignore the book maniacs
6 July 2023
It's getting so annoying to see all those book maniacs, who think everything has to be exactly like written. TV is a very different medium, and needs different storytelling. The so called "fans" these days are trying to destroy everything, from GOT & LOTR to Marvel & Witcher. Just put your noses in your books and stop whining. Each & everyone feels like he is the main critic, storyteller, director & specialist. This was an excellent tv episode, very different from the others, had me hooked from the start. Unravelling a lot that was hidden at first. The actors were great and the director did a good job. For me this season so far, was a big improvement from the weaker 2nd season. As some other reviewers wrote, I'm also looking forward to the remaining episodes and the next season with Hemsworth. Cavill is good, but for me not irreplaceable. The series is definitely good fantasy entertainment.

What an epic change compared to season 1
14 April 2023
I have to admit, I started watching the 1st season, but was so bored after episode 1, that I quit. After learning about the new theme I gave it another try, and I'm really enjoying this hommage. The musicals of Kander & Ebb, especially Cabaret & Chicago, are my alltime favourites. Dark and jazzy is what I like. The song and dance numbers here are a fantastic tribute to Big Spender & Bye Bye Mein Lieber Herr. The unfolding crime story is promising. The "Sally Bowles" character is marvellously portrayed here, I'm sure that Liza will love this season. I'm already excited to watch this season with all the references to my beloved musicals.

No production money for voice sond effects left....?
6 April 2023
In the first chapter of this episode I was totally distracted by the non-existent voice effects of the two aqatic lovers. No creature with mouthes like these would be able to sound like an ordinary human voice, even the movements of the mouth didn't fit the words. That is just bad production. Each and every stupid robot has a sound effect on its voice.... The rest of the episode was kinda ok, but I expected a little humour when Jack Black is in the episode. His part could have been flamboyantly funny, but was too lame. So the whole episode felt fragmentary.

And Grogu is getting sidelined again, which also was disappointing.

Excellent acting but the premise......
18 March 2023
...felt wrong. Looking at the world today, and what humanity did to this planet, they made the wrong decision. We, as a whole, don't deserve to survive because we are nothing more than the cancer of the organism called Earth, destroying everything. But the first part of the movie was really good and full of suspense. The acting of the whole cast was fantastic. Dave Bautista showed that he can be more than Drax The Destroyer. Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge presented a realistic and convincing gay couple. I haven't read the book, but, as was mentioned in other reviews, I also would have preferred an ending that leaves you guessing.... Was it real ?

Great visuals & Kang Introduction
3 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It's obvious that a bunch of Marvel "fans" are out to put everything down that's released. Me and my friends had a good time watching this movie. The ideas and designs of the Quantum Realm were epic fantasy. We just thought WOW. In some moments there was a little Star Wars flair. And the introduction of Kang The Conquerer and his motivations was delivered perfectly. Jonathan Majors delivered another Kang variant, and like He Who Remains, he nailed it. Another interesting take on the multiversal problems with evergrowing timelines and variants. The mid-credits scene was a lead-in to the next Avengers movie. The quartet of heroes were a fun team to watch. The only plot hole for me was Janet not telling her family about the great danger in the Quantum Realm. It's her fault that Kang got so mighty down there, and that the family experimented with it.

Going downhill fast
17 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I found the premise of this series really interesting and enjoyed the first two seasons. From season three on I felt that the series is starting to lose direction, and with more and more divine mumbo jumbo it seemed like the second LOST. And now after the break I tried to give it another chance, since Netflix revitalised LUCIFER so successfully. But sadly it gets more confused and especially the character of Ben with his over erratic behaviour is so annoying. In this episode, where he finally is able to find his daughter, he doesn't play safe, no, he has to go alone, so that he can be struck down. That's such bad writing. I'm done with this series, I don't even care about the "explanation" that might come in the final episode. Probably they all died in a plane crash or something.

Good final episode of an interesting season
27 December 2022
All the storytelling this season was very special, some things could be expected, but a lot of scenes & stories were fortunately unexpected. I'm really fascinated by the portrayal of queer people with various cultural backgrounds. Being queer myself I enjoy the different take on that subject compared to the European or US styles. In the last 3 years I discovered a lot of good entertaining tv productions from Canada, like Schitt's Creek or Kim's Convenience. And Sort Of is also fresh & special. The actors do a good job, the writers evade stereotypical storytelling. So, we can hope for more seasons to come.

The Good Fight: The End of Eli Gold (2022)

What an intense and foreshadowing episode
30 September 2022
This series was always political and therefor critisised by some viewers who thought, this is simply propaganda & fake news. What they are presenting is the looming threat of the end of democracy in the US. The presentation is excellent, the actors are all incredible and the directing has never been better in The Good Fight. You can feel the growing fear among people who aren't white and christian (whatever that means to people who spread so much hate, certainly not what Jesus was about). The contrast to that is Diane's storyline, who found an emotional escape from all that. Before, she deeply suffered from it, but now found her inner peace. That's really great storytelling and Christine Baransky nailed the performance... again !

Perfect ending for an entertaining new take on the Super Soap
19 September 2022
I really enjoyed the remake, because they created their own version of Dynasty, but included many references to the original. Fallon was such a great character, much better than the old version, who was 1st an annoying character, and then kinda boring. Liz did a fantastic job there. Most of the actors have been great on this show. My other favourites were Rafael as Sammy-Jo, Sam Underwood who perfectly displayed wacky Adam, Elaine Hendrix & Michael Michele were the perfect Alexis vs Dominique dynamite duo. The storylines were campy & funny, and often over the top like back in the 80s. I'll miss this show, but great that they ended on a high.

The series started well & interesting, but these last 2 episodes were so boring. And Violet gets more annoying in every episode. I couldn't even finish this one. Don't even care for the finale. Such a lame treasure hunt.

This Show is worth saving.....
14 August 2022
It really captures the campy super soap style that it has been in the 80s. This episode again showed a perfect balance of fun & drama & over the top storylines. Most of the main actors are excellent, but Gillies, Hendrix & Michele are so perfect for this show, like Collins, Beacham & Carroll were back then. Is this like rich people really behave...? NOPE ! But it is so much fun to watch.

Not enough Sandman....
13 August 2022
I never read the comics, but I know the last 4 episodes are supposed to display another story. As most of the other reviewers, I felt this episode was a big drop in quality. The acting wasn't that great, the story felt lame in comparison to the 1st arc, and, most of all, a Sandman series shouldn't sideline the main character, who is really fascinating. Too much people here that weren't that interesting. I already read some spoiler free reviews of the season, that praised the 1st arc, but didn't like this one. Let's see......

Our Gang really had fun watching this
8 July 2022
We all know now that the hardcore Marvel fans hate it when the MCU films don't take themselves too seriously. But for us it was a fantastic experience, lots of humour, good action and still, big emotions, regarding the couple and the villain. The story was interesting, and we'll obviously see a much darker side of Zeus in the future. The cinematography is excellent as well. Great Entertainment

Phase 4 is so interesting because it's much more varied, in the themes, the heroes and their stories. This obviously brings a lot of new fans, but confuses or bores some of the old ones. I love it, they don't repeat the formula of Phase 1-3, so it stays fresh. Good Job, Marvel.

such bad writing.....
2 July 2022
...just to force a heartfelt talk between the false and the real sheriff. The end was good though, Job punishing the guy in a very delicious, non-violent way. I guess like many series before & after Banshee, it's best to end it while it is mostly entertaining. 4 seasons is definitely enough, be cause the quality is descending.

I don't get the praise....
14 June 2022
Like some other reviewers stated, this wasn't the dark comedy anymore, which I loved. It was so much overacted melodramatic and mostly boring storylines. All main characters going completely insane, just not funny. Felt like a completely different series compared to seasons 1 & 2. And this season finale was completely unhinged. Doesn't have to be renewed for another season, sadly I won't miss it.

Good Finale with stellar cast
9 June 2022
The main cast of this season did an incredible job, especially Lana & Allison. The performances were so spot on & nuanced.

The ending was still surprising, but very well written. The bad reviews obviously came from folks who wanted to have a happy ending for Rita, but this isn't Once Upon A Time, guys. This series always is sharper & meaner, so I found the last episode satisfying & very entertaining. Thank you, Marc Sherry, you did it again.
