Again meh....

What started as a visual treat soon became rather stale imo and felt like it was trying to hard.

Meh....
31 March 2019
A decidedly meh start for an opening episode, felt like I was watching a video game aimed at 13 Yr old boys. Don't get the rave reviews at all.

Absolutely Fabulous (1992–2012)

Seasons 1-3 are golden, the rest not so much...
17 January 2019
I am a big believer in sometimes the best TV, comedy, film etc is short lived, a moment of genius that lives on. This is how I feel about AbFab. Series 1-3 were and still are ultimate comedy gold and that's why I rated it 10. However the same cannot be said for the remainder of the series. More misses than hits, super lazy writing and it's kind of become what it used to take the piss out of which is a great shame. Still one of the best British comedies ever in it's early series.

Not what I was expecting
12 January 2019
I went into this film with the full intention of hating it and boy did I come out surprised. The obvious main strength of this film is the performance of Tom Hardy, particularly strong in the scenes where he is first joing with Venom. He was comical without being absurd or dumbing it down and also played it with a slight touch of madness in his eyes which I adored. The film itself is ok and so are the other performers although the typical 2d style bad guy brought the film down considerably in my opinion. However as I stated at the start of this review it's all about Venom/Tom Hardy double act that really excels this otherwise average film.

Fairly enjoyable fluff
12 January 2019
This to me is very a much aimed at the the kids of today i.e post 2010 generation. There are some nice mods aimed at slightly older folk or those with a vast knowledge of gaming. The main theme of the film is friendship as it tends to be nowadays and it tries in it's own way to through out a half decent moral message. It's a pleasent enough harmless little film, one firmly directed at the little ones.

An utter joy
12 January 2019
From beginning to end this movie is nothing short of awesome. The soundtrack worked like a dream and the action set pieces were top class. What made this movie work most of all was the totally believable chemistry between the out standing lead girl and the awesome bumblebee. They forged a real bond and that made their goodbye scene all the more powerful. I'm not ashamed to admit I cried at the end.

A deliciously bawdy romp
8 January 2019
I utterly adored this film and was howling with laughter throught. The script was razor sharp and produced some of the funniest and filthiest words I have heard in a while. The cast were all superb but Olivia Coleman stole the show for me. I personally did not like the ending and felt it could have maybe been 10-15 minutes shorter but still bravo all round.

A Star Wars triumph
5 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I had many doubts about this film hence why it took me till now to actually watch it and it turned out to be a true triumph very much in veign with Star Wars Episodes 4-7 and being directed by Ron Howard to did most of his best work in the 80's it's no surprise. It has a great classic Sci-fi adventure feel to it and the score real helps to sell that. Chewbacca was always the biggest selling point for me and boy did they deliver and gave us a touching back story and an army of Chewies. Judt am utter joy from beginning to end.

Decent action flick
5 January 2019
I liked this film a fair bit and was pleased to see Jennifer Garner back in an action roll. I don't want a lot from my action films and this delivered on most levels, although a little more hand to hand and less gun combat would have been nice. I also found it no less absurd or a stretch in parts than most action films but you come to expect that with these kinds of films.

Classic Von Trier
5 January 2019
I've heard rumours that this may be Lars Von Triers final film and if so then bravo, what a swan song to go out on. I found the whole film entirely captivating from beginning to end (well that last 10-15mins were a bit meh) and it ended on the delightful Hit the road Jack" and that made me chuckle. The film is very dark and disturbing on many levels and can be pretty hard to watch in places however I did find myself chuckling at some the deliciously dark humour within the film. Also bravo Matt Dillon who gives a career best performance.

A proper comic book romp
4 January 2019
I'll keep this short and sweet. After a lot of initial doubt I'm just back from the film itself and OMFG it was brilliant. Decently acted by all despite the slightly clunky script in places. It was visually stunning and for the most part the CGI was pretty darn good. It was just so much fun I was totally engrossed from beginning to end.

The best
4 January 2019
This for me was the jewel in the Crown of 90's cartoons. It was funny, gross and utter genius in my book and still holds up very well by today's standards.

Slapstick hilarity
4 January 2019
The 90's were a superb era for kids cartoons and this was just one of the many gems. Mostly hilarious but sadly a touch repetitive at times.

Such promise.....

Warning: Spoilers
I was soooo enjoying this film and was totally and utterly absorbed in it right until the many, many, many alternate endings and I'm sorry I know that was supposed to maybe be the point but man that was some repetitive BS that totally dragged what was otherwise a fantastic film, shame.

Funny but flawed.
3 January 2019
Overall I really did enjoy this film for the most part. For me it worked best when humour was used and it failed miserably in the "emotional" scenes but hey ho it is a cartoon aimed at kids so there is bound to be the odd saccharine moment (or ten) to be expected. Visually it was a bit of an assault on the senses at times but overall worked for the film. My most hated thing about the film was the gawd awful soundtrack. Highlight of the film goes to "Spider pig"

Superbly gripping stuff.
3 January 2019
The first 30 mins of this film I found very intense and I could not look away and thankfully the pacing kept up nicely throught the film. I found Sandra Bullock very watchable in what has to be her most physicaly demanding role to date. There is also an incredible supporting cast consisting of John Malcovich, Sarah Paulson & B. D. Wong of Law & Order SVU. I overall was utterly satisfied with this film and would highly recommend it to anybody.
