Carlos: Première partie (2010)
Carlos the Jackal
While I was looking for good political thrillers I discovered this film that exists in several formats, one of them that is divided into 3 episodes in a miniserie, I had the opportunity to see the short version of 160 minutes, but I called so much attention I decided by the long version.
The miniserie works as a film and there are no changes between the two formats, only one is longer than the other.
How it is so long and my time is fractionated I could only see the Premiere Partie this afternoon, tomorrow in the afternoon when i have free time again would like to see the other two parts, but for now I can only say that this is great and has a very elegant aesthetics and great performances. Edgar Ramírez was for my an unknown actor but now I do not doubt of his talent, his work here is definitely professional, at the height of great hollywod actors.
This has an accelerated rhythm and in the first 10 minutes we already know the political ideologies of our characters, I expected that this was bored because at first glance it looked like a film with high political content but without anything entertainment but for my surprise it was the opposite, At no time low of intensity except for the last 20 minutes where it seems to lose a coherence a little.
Possibly he could have a shorter result but each scene and every event that is reached is relevant and important to know this story.
Unfortunately, time plays in me against and I can not finish this incredible movie at the same time.
Love, Death & Robots: The Witness (2019)
Could have gone better
I dare to say that this is the best directed episode of the series so far (for me) I really seemed more appreciable than the first episode, has very good surrealist touches and incredible approaches with a animation work with a lot of cinematographic style, the problem here is the story; predictable, pretentious and boring. But I must highlight the great animation work, I would like to see this style ever in an animated movie.
Love and Death (1975)
That I got to like the cinema of Woody Allen is as easy as hating it
Woody Allen has an undeniable knack for making existentially absurd movies, the rhythm of comedy is in the absurd and Woody improves it by introducing philosophy. The beauty of this film is in the dialogues that range from the most absurd to truly existential discussions where characters they are questioned from the meaning of life to the existence of God.
The characters are constantly giving speeches in which you would probably get lost in a any movie but Woody Allen does it so well with his hilarious touch that even though you do not understand what the characters say sometimes as 'Subjectivity Is Objective' and all that speech where you talk from metaphysics to epistemology, you'll still reflect on life itself as these characters do.
One of the best things about this film is that after each of these dialogues and discussions the characters seem to respond in the best way possible, hilariously to break up a really interesting conversation, it's as if Woody Allen knew exactly what to say, all the words are there for something and everyone is in his place, Woody Allen is one of the best when it comes to making monologues and although he has lost that touch and his comedies have gone by another course at present, we will always have this classic.
The Devil Wears Prada (2006)
All the score that I give to this is for Marly Streep
This movie without the imposing interpretation of Maryl Streep would have been dead to me. If they had left it on any other actress, it probably would have been a disaster. Anne does make decently, but I would like to emphasize the incredible essence that Maryl Streep gives for this, his character is that most outsanding, others seems to be very flat. If she had not been, I would not have bothered to see him.
The Revenant (2015)
Iñarritu is one of my favorite directors currently and DiCaprio, my favorite actor of his generation, nothing could go wrong with this collaboration
The Revenant becomes an ode to nature and a way to show us its imminence before us, showing us that they are forces that we do not control and that we will always be redeemed before her, in each plane the most imposing is nature and its strength, even the History is an analogy about this.
Iñárritu does an exceptional job in charge of this project and it is undeniable that behind all this there was a great work by a long team that delivered everything to bring this incredible film. Personally I think this is the best performance of DiCaprio so far and I know that many think otherwise but if you doubt it can look at the small details of Leonardo's expressions in key scenes such as the fight with the bear, when you are hiding in the bowels of a horse, when it is enduring its suffering and in the sublime and spectacular final scene of revenge, its interpretation makes everything have the most realistic tone possible and thanks to its antagonist the incredible Tom Hardy that with his performance also complements this film, Will poulter has an outstanding intervention here as well as Domhal Glesson.
It is necessary to emphasize that the film is not totally exact and like any other historical film it makes some inventions so that the history is a little more digestible, since in fact it does not have registry of which Hugh Glass has had wife and much less son, and in real history Hugh was not so kind to Fitzgerald.
This is a film that should be seen with the best quality possible, seeing it in theaters was a unique experience, it was perplexed by the beauty of each photograph and the amazing montage of the film, this is an experience that should be enjoyed to the fullest. Do not waste this opportunity on a phone or a low resolution screen.
The Mule (2018)
Eastwood will never stop making incredible movies, while this alive.
It is incredible the versatility of this director even today at his age of 88, he is than surprised with this film in one of his most risky papers, and I say risky because certainly his character is the one of a strong, rigid and imposing man, the same as he has always interpreted (this comment of his interpretations is corrosive) Clint works as well in its golden times, the 60s, the 70s, the 80s and 90s, from the beginning of the century its old age has given him strong but continued to make masterpieces (Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, Gran torino, Sully, American Sniper and now The Mule, and these are only those that I have seen) as Roger Ebert said; Can direct himself in his own film and look meaner than hell
This character has many similarities with Walt Kowaski and the film has many similarities with great torino, although the Mule did not manage to excite it so much is remarkable the stunning moralistic reflection that Eastwood gives us in each of his movies.
The Mule of my part would take a 10 but I'm going to list your mistakes to the score that deserves: * The way they know the one with the guy given to the work was very spontaneous and I feel that something was missing. * History sometimes is loose and presented scene of more than they make you distract. * There are many stereotypes and clichés about Latinos Sicarios and many characters present that do not provide anything. *The police procedure is very neglected, it is very little. * The character of Bradley Cooper was wasted since it could create another type of atmosphere with it. Out of this you must compare them with the positive points of the movie, which has many:
*The family relationship was very well made and this very well shown the ties between each of the members. *The performances are decent. * The Eastwood's address as always, impeccable and with very objective shots. *The moral reflection of the film is clear and spectacular. If I should choose some scene from this movie, I would definitely choose when he stays with his wife in his last moments of life and reconciled not only with her if not with all his family, it is an emotional scene where both demonstrate that they have always loved and reflects a true affective relationship until death, from here, the film does not stop being spectacular.
After analyzing all these points I agree that it is a bright film but has its low points, this far from the best jobs in Clint as director but the talent is admired as equal way. Finally my rating is 7.8.
I need to see more about this director
Bronson is the first movie I see from Nicolás Winding Refn, he had heard much about he, criticism and public varied about his works and this is one of his first works premiered in 2008.
The impression that gave me this movie was excellent, I did not expect to see a masterpiece but it certainly exceeded my expectations, he certainly owes him to A Clockwork Orange of Kubrick above all in the construction of the main character who is curiously based on a real character, Charles is a character with whom I can not get angry because he is certainly a victim of himself, he hias never killed anyone and by the worst that has been locked up are small assaults but this is apparently part of his plan to be always in prison where he can get into fights easily and this is what he like the most, he is a victim of his obsessions and of a society that he blushes and oppressed him, but he is far from being the hero, although he is not the villain either, as is Alex Delarge.
Tom Hardy delivers one of his most avid and rigid performances and I daresay he is one of the most powerful of his career, Tom embodies perfectly the bestiality of bronson.
something that must be highlighted is also the aesthetics of this film that I fell in love with, very similar to that of a play and with excessive touches of violence creating visceral atmospheres.
the music was also quite surprising for me since I liked it a lot and I even watched the credits just to listen to the melody.
My expectations were exceeded, I was hoping that this movie will take a 7 on my part, my final grade was 8/10.
Stan & Ollie (2018)
Because nobody is talking about this fascinating movie?
One of the best films of the year and one that had less impact, unfortunately.
The film is moving and more for those of us who grew up watching Laurel & Hardy, Me mostly because of my grandfather who is a great admirer. History turns out to be a reflection about the true friendship of these two admirable men who at all times maintained their essence and that made them unique in the world of the show, in a big way because their comedy was unique, it was not heavy nor forced their charisma was natural and the actors that They give life to Stan & Ollie they know how to maintain the essence and without a doubt they end up being great performances that will steal a smile on more than one occasion.
Beyond that, the story lacked deeper into the personal life of both since some issues were touched only barely but I do not have many complaints about her because there is no doubt that they knew how to shine even with the ambientation, The design of the production, the wardrobe and the makeup department can be seen that they had a great job behind all this.
It is a film to reflect on the change the comedy has undergone and at this point I wonder if the comedy has changed for the better or if comedians of the stature of these two admirable men will live again.
Captain Fantastic (2016)
the perfect movie for disconnected from a hypocritical society
First we must highlight Viggo's incredible performance, not only dazzled by his performance, his character is unique with which we will learn more of the account and make us question our daily life and ask ourselves if everything we do and how we raise our children really this is good, it is a masterful and deep mockery to society, its history can sometimes decline but the characters are so charismatic that they make this film by much the best of the year that premiered
Leave No Trace (2018)
It's perfect when it comes to expressing a message.
Totally different from everything we have seen, it is perhaps one of the most innovative films of the year. Without the slightest use of violence and with the greatest subtlety possible to be recorded, Leave no trace not absent from emotions because it is certainly a roller coaster. A poem to nature that shows us its beauty in each angle, in each shot it is as if we were watching a movie acted by nature beyond its own actors, because we never lose sight of it. It is hard to believe that it has been terribly ignored in the awards season when it is one of the best films of the year and in technical aspects it is more than decent.
The first 40 minutes can be boring for most, after this and at the beginning of the second act, the film makes an excellent change of atmosphere when it takes us to a transgressive and psychedelic trip with these young people, some situations of the film create suspense and they also show how people who have been drugged are having a hard time while trying to survive the worst night of their lives, but I managed to connect with the characters and the circumstances, Climax is far from the psychedelic films of Gaspar noe, but nevertheless, it is very good!
Green Book (2018)
Sentimental and motivating
It goes without saying that this is my favorite movie of 2018, and I say it for many reasons; Performances that are very cool and because of their emotional and nostalgic charge.
The film tells how a racist man (Tony lip) who is famous for being a quest of the bronx, becomes close friend of Don shirley, sophisticated pianist and a genius of music, seems to be the polar opposite of Tony but during a trip for two months to the south of usa, where Tony works for shirley everything changes and we see how the hearts of each of the men is becoming different and each time they seem to share more things in common. In the trip they face many difficulties when going through a highly racist area in a racist era that was the 60s, these situations will show the true protective personality of Tony and how each time his bond is stronger.
It's my favorite of the year because when I left the cinema I felt renewed and satisfied, a true poetry about friendship and an incredible road movie that will remain for the story, a movie that is hard to forget due to its story so alive that it makes you laugh and at the same time feel like crying
