Acts of Violence (2018)
Not as bad as everyone's making it to be
Interesting. It has some great moments and some not soo good ones but it's definitely worth the 1.5 hours! It brings to light a lot of what's going on within our corrupt country. We have high level "gangbangers" getting protection from the police and special organizations/government for information on other sources.. It's a sad reality and really what's wrong in today's world. Don't think for one second that Human Trafficing isn't a real issue here in America because it very much is! This happens all the time. Gangbangers and criminals preying on addicts. It disgusts me. I'm glad this film sheds a little bit of that light and would say that if any Army Rangers wife or sister were to be kidnapped like this you better believe that they wouldn't sit back and just "let the police go through the paper work" soo in that sense this movie is very much realistic. Of course in real life these three brothers would be much smarter in where they were staying and hanging low.. not just back at the same usual house. But that's just apart of the movie aspect of it all!
Sugar Mountain (2016)
Potential but very drawn out and all over the place
It has some good moments and context but overall it's lacking simplicity and suspense. Also I've gotta mention it.. I guess apparently the women up in Alaska enjoy having intercourse with their unknowing step brothers... seems like a thing up there, I guess.. Not to mention the dude has a perfectly smoking hot blonde french girl who likes him yet he'd much rather sleep with his brothers girlfriend who later we find out is his his step sister... yeah great suspense there Mr. Director...
Had potential if it was directed by maybe a David Fincher or Joe Carnahan type ! And higher list main actors! It for sure has the story just needs the substance to back it up, we're talking potential Oscar nominations if it took that route!

Not quite sure about all the hype...
Don't get me wrong it was suspenseful at times (insert suspenseful music here) and was supported by an outstanding cast.. though it is just very predictable. From the start we see that Mills is a weak rookie detective who makes the most simple of mistakes even when being pleaded not to. So we know he will be victimized at the conclusion of the film.. How hard was it for me to take a wild guess and say that the press guy attempting to take photos at the scene of the crime was in fact our serial killer "John Doe"...... not very hard I must admit. The fact that the director had to bring to our attention that Mill's wife Tracy is pregnant and hiding it from Mills tells us that something gruesome is going to happen to her or the baby in the end... and all it's doing is creating a little more suspense.. but yet still easily predictable.. The only reason I finished the film was the slightest hope of something unpredictable happening. And unfortunately I never got that.. so I wasted about two hours.
I feel for anyone who is a logical thinker that watched this.. likely the only person this film could catch off guard is somebodies 70yr old grandmother.
