Untouchable (I) (2016)
10/10
One of the best documentaries I have ever seen

This movie is difficult. I won't lie. But it is necessary. It's important. It's crucial. David Feige takes a topic most of us wouldn't think about on a day to day basis and gives it a totally new take. Neither an advocate for the abolition of SORA, nor an advocate for it's strict construction, David Feige pulls back the curtain on what we think we know and shows the very human experiences on both sides of the aisle. It's a searing indictment of a system that is failing and a call for reform but is never heavy handed in its conclusion. Giving stories from both side, David shows that for some the registry is an absolute must but that our sweeping and wide ranging descriptions of what makes a sex offense are reaching a fever pitch and nearly out of control. David does not paint his subjects as victims but rather addresses how their lives have been impacted, not just those on the registry but those who have been victimized as well. It's an incredible piece of film making and one that I will watch again and again to make sure that I remember to be constantly vigilant in the fight for those among us who are considered the least (both the offenders and the victims).
