Scoob! (2020)
5/10
little more than Hanna-Barbara nostalgia
11 January 2021
Scoob offers little substance and is a bit of a mess. I didn't have high expectations for this movie but I will admit i enjoyed it more than I though I would. The animation and voice acting was competent, though the studio screwed over its current scooby doo cast with its recasting, I will admit I quite enjoyed Zac Efron as Fred. The part that i did not expect and found quite enjoyable was its use of other Hanna-Barbera characters throughout and is nostalgic fun for anyone who grew up with their other works alongside scooby doo, with the inclusion of dynomutt and falcon, wacky races and references to others throughout. I didn't particularly pay much attention to its main plot and just felt as though we moved a long a random series of events. Truly a mediocre film outside its nostalgic value but surely enjoyable for younger children.

chilling film not without its flaws
11 January 2021
Possum is truly a terrifying exploration of trauma, its titular puppet something that's definitely going to haunt me. Harris and Armstrong, though having limited dialogue, are truly amazing in their roles, never have I been impressed with two actors not having chemistry. though the film can be tedious in its middle it does pay off in its ending, while I wasn't terrified by its ending i did feel sickly. truly one of the most uncomfortable films I've seen in more ways than one. This movie isn't for everyone, if you're not a fan of slow paced psychological explorations I wouldn't recommend.

It was ok
15 September 2019
Interesting ideas but a mediocre execution. From the effects, to the acting and cinematography, it was all just,,, ok ? The only interesting thing is it's plot.

What's with the hype?
24 July 2019
Watched this a little while ago and forgot about, however I saw a lot of people going on about how this is "the scariest movie they've ever seen, no one can even finish it!!" Yeah no ones finished it because it's boring. It's not a bad movie, and I'm not against slow paced movies but they have to really interest me, this one did not. it's not anything special but Check it out if you want a typical possession movie.

The best found footage horror movie
3 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Probably the only good found footage movie I've seen. The overall plot isn't super original, but the presentation and execution makes up for it. I love the implication of supernatural elements at play outside of zombies, which I found very interesting. The characters felt like real people put in an unrealistic situation, the acting was great. I'm also glad that they didn't shy away from child death, horror seems to only imply or not show child death and I praise directors who don't shy away from it. One of my top horror movies and I recommend it to everyone

Actually good
3 July 2019
Was not sure what to expect, especially as someone who has not seen the first movie. I was not expecting such a heavy political tone, but im not against it. The special effects were pretty amazing, mothra definitely stood out. though I wish the main villain had a more interesting design, the monster designs overall were great. Wish we could've seen all 17, even if it were just glimpses. Didn't pay attention to the acting to be honest, guess it was decent.

Historical discrepancies
28 January 2019
Good film when you ignore the blinding historical discrepancies and the overarching white saviour trope. Ali was the strongest actor of the bunch and sometimes you couldn't tell if he was in character or just fed up with the film itself and honestly, mood. The soundtrack outside of the actual music was generic at best and outright annoying at worst, mainly towards the end of the film. When their road trip is ending it kinda takes a weird tonal shift and starts to feel like a hallmark Christmas movie, I understand that it is Christmas within the timeline and they wanted a nice heartwarming ending but it felt forced. The film tries hard to be a feel good movie but ends up leaving a bad taste in your mouth, Had potential and would be better if it were in the hands of a black director and writers who actually consulted dr Shirley's family instead of just Tony's son.
