The Last of Us (2023– )
7/10
Great start.... Rushed end.
14 March 2023
The pilot of the 'Last of Us' is one of the best pilots I've ever watched. It is a seriously exciting, terrifying and emotional episode of television.

The world presented here is fascinating and feels authentic as a post apocalyptic society.

I feel this series had so many interesting paths it COULD have taken.

The first few episodes set the perfect scene. Some felt episode 3 'Long, long time' derailed the series but I personally loved it. It was 'real life' inside this new world. It was a beautiful love letter to human relationships.

However, as the series went on, I felt the episodes were rushed.

The dialogue was cheesy at times. The characters and the relationships weren't developed enough.

The action fell away and the focus became telling too many half hearted stories.

The penultimate episode was well paced and the performances were excellent but in the end I'm left unsatisfied by the finale.

I have hopes for season 2 and won't give up watching yet!

Another important story told by Netflix.
13 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was pleasantly surprised by this series. The case is well covered by Netflix.

Each story and each victim are important and were treated as such.

It is insanity that in this day and age a family can get away with so much simply because they are wealthy and influential.

No one is above the law.

It shines a light on this and will hopefully, promote meaningful conversation around how we treat the powerful when they do something wrong.

It is terribly sad to see the innocent victims of this glutinous and delusional family.

The final line said by Alex Murdaugh "Is Netflix doing something on this?" stops you right in your tracks.

Scrubs: My Screwup (2004)

Done so well...

Warning: Spoilers
I am a huge Scrubs fan.

There's a perfect balance between great humour and an examination of tough emotional situations.

This episode is so perfectly done.

It is so easy to watch it again and forget what is going to happen. The almost sixth sense quality of this episode is haunting.

I often wonder about moments of complete disaster, like losing someone close. This episode shows how the brain can protect you.

This is a deeply sad moment in the series. John C. McGinley is excellent as he usually is.

Those final moments as the seats fill at Bens funeral stay with me. It is a perfect shot sequence, so simple and effective.

10/10.

The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
Season 1, Episode 3

A beautiful episode.

Warning: Spoilers
So good so far with the Last of Us. This episode had a completely different tone and added depth to an already exciting season.

The story of Bill and Frank was beautiful. It perfectly captured how we humans operate better with someone to love and protect.

This episode had lighter moments and great humour.

The garden party was particularly enjoyable and almost relatable. The everyday mundane arguments exist in ALL circumstances.

I am sat here and my heart is heavy with the emotion of this episode.

Franks line "I've had more good days with you than with anyone else" will stay with me for awhile.

Fingers crossed the Last of Us can keep this up!

The best of the best.

This is my favourite episode of the Sopranos. It is so suspenseful, emotional and devastating. Every award garnered was so well deserved. Beautiful, beautiful writing.

The Gentlemen (2019)

Well written and funny from start to finish!

Warning: Spoilers
I was pleasantly surprised at how good this movie was! The performances are great, particularly Hugh Grant, he is nearly unrecognisable. It was fast paced, exciting and genuinely very funny. Henry Golding was also unbelievable here. My only criticism is the Russian story line was slightly tacked on at the very end. Satisfying and enjoyable, it's clever and never feels forced or cringe at any point. Loved it!

Not the greatest story line but really funny!

It was genuinely funny for any age. Some great characters added but the story line was lacking a little bit. Had the feeling of being tacked onto the old story. Still a great watch
