PRENTENTIOUS RIDICULOUSNESS
6 August 2023
A pretentious and plot-less movie, that is guised as a deep and philosophical absurdist satire. This is not satire. Calling something satire does not automatically make the movie "cool". Where was the satire, you absolute baboon? It was a stupid movie, for stupid people who have a lot of time to waste, and no brain to think and form opinions on their own.

An intelligent movie is capable of making connections, having some semblance of a story, have characters that make some sense at least. This was just plain horrible film-making. If you want a good watch for your lil acid trips, I could list a number of B-grade Hindi movies for that. This was just NOT it.

Good topic, bad execution
23 July 2023
Although the topics that are discussed in the movie - self-image and having a life partner who has a condition are very relevant and important, the execution was done so badly, that the movie fails to leave a lasting impression on you. It's very forgettable. The only time I got emotional were a few of the WW2 flashback scenes, other than that Ajju and Nisha's relationship failed to connect with me.

Main problems that made the movie awful: Jahnvi Kapoor's acting, ridiculous dialogues, and that ending, which felt unrealistic. Jahnvi Kapoor really needs to up her acting skills, this is her 7th movie ffs. The person who cast Jahnvi Kapoor should've chosen a better actor to portray the condition and her emotions accurately. It's weird but in some movies Varun Dhawan acts well, and in some he overacts. The songs were very mid & forgettable as well. Nitesh Tiwari needs to do better. The ending scene, which was a slideshow of the cast's photos, was just weird.

NOSTALGIA
23 July 2023
This movie is NOT what I expected at all. I thought it would be your average formulaic movie, but no. This movie is deep. It explores topics such as feminism & the patriarchy, femininity, existentialism, and a lot more. It uses incredible comedy to make its points, and hence, doesn't come across preachy at all.

Greta Gerwig is absolutely incredible, this is 100% her best work so far. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling did a splendid job, as did the rest of the supporting characters.

Also, the nostalgia you'll feel when you watch this movie is insane. It's so crazy how similar every girl's Barbie play-stories are. I love that I'm just like other girls!!

Cillian Murphy, take a bow
21 July 2023
We knew what we were in for, we know the history, yet Christopher Nolan managed to knock it out of the park. He was not wrong when Nolan said Oppenheimer was his most abstract work. I will be honest, I liked the latter part of the movie much more. We could see the shades of grey in each character. Every actor did a splendid job, especially Cillian Murphy, he was exceptional and I would be shocked if he was not at least nominated for Oscars.

Although I was not fortunate enough to watch it in IMAX, I loved the cinematography, loved Nolan's vision. I think I might have to watch it a second time!

forgettable
4 July 2023
This sequel with its stories and characters forgettable. The first movie was fun, I still remember the stories & characters, especially Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap's stories.

The stories in the sequel pales in comparison. All stories lack a good plot and the most important ingredient, lust. Other than Made For Each Other, the rest three were just boring and weird.

The Mirror was the worst of the lot.

They should have done the sequel with the previous directors - Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Bannerjee. If they make a third instalment, hopefully the previous directors can collaborate again.

shawshank redemption inspired?
3 July 2023
Pretty good movie, better than most Bangla movies for sure. Funny at moments. All the actors did a good job, especially Afran Nisho, he did great. The makeup artist did a fine job as well. We could see Masud age throughout the movie, mostly due to stress lol. The plot seemed heavily inspired from The Shawshank Redemption (1994), but brought in a few new twists. Not the biggest fan of the ending tho. It was a very generic & predictable Bangla movie ending.

The cinematography and direction is commendable. Some of the songs were nice too. Hope to see more work like this from the Bangla movie industry.

It's a cycle, not a rooster coop

Adarsh Gaurav was absolutely amazing in this movie. He became Balram. He embodied a typical driver you would see on the streets so perfectly. His acting is so realistic, I would sometimes forget he's actually not Balram. Quite excited to see his future ventures.

Rajkummar Rao, for the first time ever, falters. His accent seems fake, and it doesn't really feel like it belongs to someone who grew up in America. Priyanka's role was so small, I thought her character would have a larger impact.

Overall, good movie, liked the plot, felt like Dharam did not deserve the ice-cream at the end but okay.

Average but enjoyable
8 March 2023
Finally a Luv Ranjan movie without women-bashing.

I'm a fan of insta-love when done right, but this one wasn't it, chief. It seemed like an infatuation more than actual love. The chemistry was also lacking. The premise was okay & the movie had a lot of plot holes, but the movie is aware of at least some of them. Without giving away any spoilers, one of the major illogical aspects was like when Superman wore glasses, and no one was able to recognise him.

Ranbir did a good job as usual, Shraddha's acting paled in comparison. The cgi de-aging effect done on them was a bit awkward tho, making it hard to see the micro-expressions Ranbir usually uses to portray his emotions. Their skin looked one-toned. The supporting cast did a splendid job as the lovable family. Bassi was also great as the friend.

almost entrancing
21 December 2022
The movie was great. Although the plot was predictable, and I could see what was gonna happen from miles away, the topic was interesting. Rishab Shetty did a brilliant job as Panjurli Daiva and Guliga Daiva. For the scale and budget it was made in, it's truly remarkable how they pulled it off.

However, in a religious film like this, where Shiva was shown as a special child of god, almost as if he was the "chosen one", to show Shiva pinching bellies and harassing women, and in one scene, continuing to making out with her when she said 'no' was just so disgusting to see. Then he later went on to dance in the Bhoota Kolas.

Disappointed, expectations not met
2 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Kartik did a good job, but Alaya F. And Protein Shake's acting skills are quite weak. I felt bad for Freddy so much tho, poor Freddy. RIP Hardy.

The movie is slow-paced and has a lot of plotholes. A lot of flaws and illogical stuff happen. Like, in the end, why didn't she just run or fight? She wasn't under anaesthesia, but she just lied there limp in his arms. Plus, the graves were too short in height, you could easily dig yourself out of there. The ending wasn't satisfactory. I would've liked to see Freddy meet someone else in the end, or sth else happen. But it just ended very blandly, with him lying between the two. The thriller aspect of the movie was missing, they just made it unintentionally funny. Shashanka Ghosh, the director, disappoints yet again.

soothing for the eyes & ears
2 December 2022
The story is beautiful & so are the songs in the movie. It tugged at some mother issues I have as well, so it connected with me. How your mother labels you remains with you forever. The plot is unraveled very beautifully for the audience, Anvita Dutt is a brilliant director. And the aesthetics is just - chef's kiss.

Amit Trivedi has done a beautiful job with the music. The entire soundtrack is a banger. Hands down, best album in a Bollywood movie in 2022. Brahmastra's album is a close second, but not ALL the songs in that album are as amazing as the songs in Qala.

Tripti Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee & Babil Khan have done a fine job. Especially Tripti, showing all the emotions a mentally disturbed person might feel with her expressions, body language & tone of voice so effortlessly. I'm excited to see more of her future works.

extremely disturbing
9 October 2022
This was extremely extremely difficult to watch. I kept pausing every two seconds 'cause it was getting hard to breathe watching this. My stomach hurt so much throughout the entire show.

Before I started watching, my roommate told me a little about him & I made a joke saying, oh we're so alike, we both love the person for what's inside them. Well, I regretted ever even thinking that when I was watching the second episode.

Throughout the show, the thing I felt towards Dahmer wasn't hate, or anger, or love. It was partially disgust, partially pity, partially confusion, partially sadness and whole lot of being disturbed. Pity, because, his childhood seemed so familiar. Although, I would still say it was much much much much better than mine. Watching this series made me scared I'd end up like him. Hopefully not, I have more than enough friends thank god. Loneliness does make you extremely weird to the world tho, who else would know better than me.

I loved that this series showed all the sides, everyone's perspective. My heart hurt so much for Tony. He deserved better, that was so confusing for me.

A bit disappointed :(
14 September 2022
Screenplay wasn't smooth & was abrupt at places. Ranbir was a bit too dramatic all the time. Isha & Shiva fell in love too fast too hard, it felt very unnatural.

Alia's didn't have enough meat in her role for the first time in her filmography. Unless there's a plot twist waiting in the future instalments. I appreciate their dedication towards the movie tho, Ayan spent 10yrs on this. I'm hoping the second one will be better.

The best part of the movie was obviously SHAHRUKH KHAN. HIS PRESENCE WAS EVERYTHING. And I didn't miss the connection to Swades. The Nandi Astra-truck scene was goosebumps-inducing. Kesariya & Rasiya are my favourites from this movie. Loved loved loved the vfx, music & bgm.

Guaranteed headache
25 August 2022
Plot makes no sense, neither does the screenplay. Everyone's acting was choppy. Vijay's stammer wasn't believable at all, that is not how real people stammer. I have no idea why directors still cast Ananya Panday. She just can't act. It's like watching a B-grade movie actress. She ruins every movie with her bad, amateur acting.

lost potential
31 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There was so much potential with the stories that could've been told & the characters that could've been explored. Luther & Diego were characters that just got sidelined and weren't given much importance over the seasons. They didn't even get much of a character arc. S1, the two assass1ns from the Commission were very Pulp Fiction.

The only character of the show I liked was Five. I really liked watching scenes where he was in, cause he's the only smart person there apart from old Reg. Plus, Five's storyline is super interesting. Everyone else was okay.

However, Lila and Vanya/Viktor were impossible to tolerate. I h@ted Vanya/Viktor from S1 cause I just had this feeling she was gonna be the reason for the apocalypse. And lo and behold, it WAS because of her stup1dity and self1shness in S1 and S2 that causes everyone to go through hell. S3, Allison goes rogue but that is triggered by, again, Prince Viktor being self1sh and stup1d yet again.

Is there a S4 coming? Cause I would like to see how Five starts the Commission & who exactly Abigail is.

fuzzy memories
3 March 2022
It's weird. The first time I saw this movie was when I was a kid. On a lazy afternoon, right after school, flipping through tv channels, when I found this movie. It really intrigued me, and I was...enchanted? This movie became really special to me for some reason. The romance? The craziness? A song, perhaps? I'm not sure.

Now that I've rewatched it as an adult, I am terribly confused as to what I saw in this movie as a kid that I liked. It's awful, and nothing else.

The screenplay, the acting - all nothing but garbage.

why cast someone who can't act?
6 February 2022
Why a director like Anand L Rai would cast Sara Ali Khan, I have no idea. This movie would've been soo good if they cast an actress who can actually act. Her crying scenes reminded me of her scenes in Love Aaj Kal 2.

Dhanush was brilliant as always, of course.

What is this plot? What is this acting? Was supposed to be sensual but it was comical instead.

Stupid, predictable, boring plot without any substance. What was the point of the story again? The only thing worth watching was the dude's body I guess.

love the gore
27 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Very gorey, love that. The plot was predictable most of the time, and the ending was so unsatisfactory. They'll prolly show what happens next in season 2, but honestly ever since number 067 died, it hasn't been the same. I was rooting for her so hard, even tho I knew she wouldn't win in the end.

Also, I've a feeling the officer didn't die, he was shot in the SHOULDER by his BROTHER. Lol that's just my theory. I've a feeling the officer will come back in S2 and save the front man, cause the front man is prolly mixed up in this and can't leave.

the definition of 'meh'
17 December 2021
The teaser had me thinking this movie would be funny. Man, was I wrong.

The movie has a very generic plot and is super bland, with unnecessary sub-plots. I skipped a few times cause I was falling asleep.

Also: What happened with Ananthan? Did she continue working with him after he tried to kiss her? Was Sundar's family okay with Meenakshi at the end? What happened to his job/app? Who knows.

Abhimanyu Dasani needs to work on his acting skills, his acting kept reminding me I'm watching a movie. Sanya Malhotra was good.

Warning: Spoilers
Theo is so hot honestly im so glad he lived

started when s1 first came out, i didn't know this series was a book adaption otherwise i wouldn't have watched it(scarred ever since percy jackson). This show is addictive. You don't really like the characters but they're relatable yk? So far, s1>s2>s3. S1 was amazing. I really hope they can really surprise me with s4 and if they can't, i hope they make it the last season even tho the books haven't ended.

What did I just watch? Initially, I was super disturbed, shocked and confused. Then it made a lot of sense.

I also realised I should go to a therapist cause I do feel a certain level of psychosis. I need to get treated before sth like this happens in my life.
